To think UN should now be in Gaza as a peacekeeping force

Seriously, when even the Daily Express are even calling mass forced starvation and putting pictures like this on their front pages.

Surely the UN could act as a peacekeeping force and stop this insanity?

Its obscene.

I just don’t see what the point of the UN would be, I could see it if they had safe areas for civilians but they wouldn’t really be able to do anything to police those areas. Maybe food distribution from dedicated centres. I don’t know how you get aid to people who really need it tbh.

There was an awful video of people leaving the GHF site and then being stripped to their underwear by hamas and having all their stuff taken off them. Clearly GHF is a fucking mess but some people are getting food and then being robbed by hamas. It’s ahit when the people who are supposed to be in charge are exploiting you. I can well believe there are starving Palestinians but it’s definitely uneven aid distribution, quite a few Hamas members are literally obese, you don’t get fat during a famine unless you are stealing all the food. Bastards.

Omg what a terrible accusation, the IDF never kill innocents!!!!!

said no non-zionist ever

Whats a non zionist? Strange term

Radioundermypillow · 23/07/2025 22:58

I mean, Israel have been totally shit at rooting out Hamas. They've flattened Gaza and murdered as many civilians and children as they can and they still haven't managed it.

Any chance to read that article yet??

Flumpflimpo · 23/07/2025 23:00

Do any Israelis on here feel sad for Gaza?

It would be so interesting to see when each poster here joined mumsnet. So many names I don't recognise...

I think this is partly because posts about Gaza are cropping up in other topics and being kicked into here so they don’t upset anyone.

Very annoying.

But they are picking up new posters in AIBU first. And of course now and again there is a flood of posters who have just a couple of repetitive points to make. All about how it’s Hamas fault.

Very annoying too.

Exactly, sure with the tech nowadays tunnels & civilian assistance should not create this much of a barrier? But I do believe that if Israel could have wiped out Hamas they would have done it by now

Hamas need to release hostages and stand down or be ousted. Gazans need to do what other ME territories manage and overthrow terrorist organisations.

Sorry Gloriia. As you can see I'm sympathetic to israel overall and happy to stand up against the hyperbole and anti semitic but the reality is that Gazans are powerless. There have been demonstrations against hamas by gazans and hamas has retributed viciously.
Hamas doesn't care about gazan lives and is willing to sacrifice them for the "greater good" but starving the gazan population is simply morally wrong, a war cime and a stain on Israel forever, and even worse will do nothing to release the hostages. This war has to end.

Well it is isn’t it. gaza wouldn’t be in this state if 7th October hadn’t happened.

Wedonttalkaboutboris · 23/07/2025 23:03

This 👏👏👏
I find it truly disturbing how anyone can justify the man-made starvation of 2 million people. It’s a war crime.

Right now in Gaza, over a million children are facing a man-made famine under total siege.

More than 20,000 children have already been killed, and those who survive are being slowly starved- half of all children under five are acutely malnourished.

Infant formula is being blocked, along with food, medicine, and clean water.

Babies are being born to starving mothers, in tents, with no incubators, no fuel, and no chance. Newborn babies have starved to death.

This isn’t just a humanitarian failure- it’s the deliberate use of mass starvation as a weapon of war.

Blocking aid, bombing bakeries, attacking distribution points, and denying formula to babies is not “defeating Hamas.” It’s collective punishment and under international law, it is a war crime.

Just baffled why they won't oust hamas. Many other places overthrow leading terrorist parties. It's almost as if the majority support them.

Well it is isn’t it. gaza wouldn’t be in this state if 7th October hadn’t happened.

Gaza wouldn’t be in this state if it hadn’t been under a 17-year blockade, bombed repeatedly, and deprived of basic human rights long before October 7th. The idea that this level of destruction is purely a response to one horrific day is false and dangerous.

What Hamas did on October 7th was indefensible. But Gaza’s civilian population (half of them children) are being subjected to mass starvation, displacement, and bombardment not because of that one day, but because of decades of impunity and a system built on collective punishment.

Babies are dying from hunger and dehydration. Formula is being blocked. Over 20,000 children have already been killed. If your position is “they brought this on themselves,” then be honest: you’re defending war crimes.

This crisis didn’t start on October 7th and it won’t end by pretending it did.

This is the problem though, food is clearly getting into Gaza but for some reason no-one seems to be able to get it to the right people. People have been buying what should be free aid since the start of the war. UNWRA were previously responsible for distribution, why then were people not getting what they needed. hamas is starving the population.

For all its faults, the un knows how to distribute food properly. If there's plenty of food, who cares if hamas still some? Personally I'd flood gaza with enough food that its worthless because I bet hamas is getting rich from the inflated prices

The 7th october attack was two years ago.

Israel have retaliated for two years.

Do you not think that is excessive?

Why was it under blockade? And its not a blockade if people can pop into Israel for work or medical treatment.

With a permit that Israel may or may not issue you and may or may not take back another day

There are still 50 hostages in Gaza. Can you imagine the British government going “fuck it, we know they still have hostages but we’ll just let it go”.

Israel wants to bypass the UN and has set up the GHF which is not working well. Supposedly this was to stop aid going to hamas but clearly hamas is able to terrorise the population to get what it wants

“Why don’t they overthrow Hamas?”
Because they’re being bombed, starved, and cut off from the world. Gaza has been under siege for 17 years. There haven’t been elections since 2006. Critics are jailed or killed. People can’t even leave, let alone organise a revolution.

This isn’t about support for Hamas- it’s about a population trapped under blockade, punished collectively, and denied any real power. The ones paying the price right now are children.

Exactly. The IDF are not stopping it. Hamas are stopping the distribution.
