Thank you @SharonEllis & @quantumbutterfly

I realised just as I posted my comment above that I had fallen into a trap because once again an attempt is being made to divert away from thetopic being discussed and into a silly personal attack.

It happens!

I will admit that I’m biased in favour of Israel but I’m not in a professional job working for the UN am I? Most of us commenting on these threads have a bias for one side or the other in the war and it’s generally obvious which side we support.

We can still show concern for civilians caught up in the war though & it’s demonstrably untrue that I have expressed zero concern for innocent Palestinians, I have done so on several threads.

I don’t support Hamas, I don’t support Israel. I don’t think the current situation in Gaza can be described as a war, It is a Genocide. Not read all the threads you have been on twiglet so apologies if you have previously expressed concern for Palestinians, glad to see you draw the line at literal concentration camps

Thank you for the apology but I am offended by your use of the term concentration camps and it’s strange you would bring that up as it’s not the topic being discussed.

Anyway, let the conversation return to its purpose which is to discuss Francesca Albanese and where we had got up to was a recognition that she is not as impartial as someone in her position should be.

You had referred to camps earlier in this thread.
i don’t think a conclusion was reachd that Albanese is biased, she has stated that Hamas committed war crimes so not pro Hamas, I think she is an exceptionally brave and competent woman who continues to highlight Israell’s breaches of international law while being continuously pressured and slandered as an anti semite like all who justifiably highlight Israel’s war crimes.

quantumbutterfly · 18/07/2025 10:51

If she's pro-palestinian I would hope she wouldn't be pro-hamas, they are not pro-palestinian. They are a mafia like organisation, funded by Iran (like hezbollah - who apparently are in cahoots with south american drug cartels). You would hope that palestinians could be better served.

You can carry on defending her but her anti Israel bias is pretty obvious to many of us.

Something you may be interested in with your talk of concentration camps is that in October 2024, the World Jewish Congress accused Albanese of repeatedly engaging in Holocaust inversion by drawing comparisons between Israel and Nazi Germany, calling her statements "not only deeply offensive, but a gross distortion of history".

Those who fail to recognise the commonality of suffering but deflect arguments with feigned offence show me who they are. have to go,
Francesca is a hero,

quantumbutterfly · 18/07/2025 11:45

The commonality of suffering is an interesting phrase isn't it? Opinions differ as to who is more to blame for the suffering of Gazans, I'm definitely in the 'but hamas' crowd. I wonder how Albanese feels about them.

This is an independent and impartial human rights specialist?

A hero for Hamas @Everexpanding.

She also said Sinwar’s death was ‘inhumane’.

Sinwar’s death was inhumane, all extrajudicial killings are, to capture and prosecute him would have been more effective, I think law should be respected whenever possible, it is all that separates us from barbarism. I can’t say I would have any sympathy for him though being a liberal, atheist, feminist

Twiglets1 · 18/07/2025 12:11

Poor Sinwar -my heart bleeds for him NOT.

No feigned concern from me about the killing of a monster.

I consider what happened to Sinwar to be the targeted killing of a Hamas leader and I support the targeted killing of him and other Hamas leaders, yes.

Personal attacks are just predictable & boring by this stage 🤷🏼‍♀️

quantumbutterfly · 18/07/2025 12:49

Who is responsible?
Well I might assign some agency to hamas, possibly a little culpability to Egypt for closing it's border.
I can see the urban warfare tactics that hamas uses, and were I on their side I might applaud them, but I'm not. To me, they and other islamists were a huge problem for Gazans even before 7/10
Last I heard there was talk of another possible ceasefire agreement, that would be nice.

Anyway....back to Albanese.....

TooBigForMyBoots · 18/07/2025 12:50

Mercurial123 · 14/07/2025 11:26

Nobody in their right mind will openly admit supporting a genocide online though.

They dont need to. Their dismissal and denials are enough.

We still see them.

If Albanese were impartial, why has she not investigated and reported on the impact on the amount of civilian deaths and injuries due to Hamas using civilians as human sacrifices (which is actually more apt than human shields and Hamas has publicly stated that is what they are doing), and Gazan civilians having no places of refuge either in or outside of Gaza?

It’s pretty obvious to anyone with basic critical thinking skills that is going to massively increase the death and injury toll of civilians.

The ‘genocide’ lie can only be perpetuated due to the above so it’s clear who’s side she’s on and it certainly is not Gazan civilians!

TooBigForMyBoots · 18/07/2025 17:36

What a ridiculous "argument".🙄 You expect her to compile all the reports on this conflict?

Why is it riduculous? Why is she not interested in harm perpetrated by Hamas?

Wow if there were medals for mental gymnastics, how can you discuss civilian casualties in Gaza without mentioning the role played by the massive bombs dropped by Israel, truly a virtuoso demonstration of the denial of reality

TBH I can’t quite comprehend the mental gymnastics it must take to discuss civilian casualties in Gaza without mentioning the role of Hamas who started this war deliberately, and without providing any places of safety or demanding safe refuge for their civilians, as well as openly stating they need their blood to fuel the ‘resistance’, and calculatingly using them as human sacrifices, AND also refusing to surrender despite claiming mass civilian casualties.

That certainly is truly a virtuoso demonstration of the denial of reality!
