Israels plan for Gazas future

Defense Minister Israel Katz said Monday that he has instructed the IDF to prepare a plan to establish a "humanitarian city" on the ruins of Rafah, which would eventually house the entire population of the Gaza Strip.

According to Katz, the plan involves moving 600,000 Palestinians, primarily from the al-Muwasi area, into the new zone after security screening. Once inside, residents would not be allowed to leave, the defense minister said.

Katz added that, if conditions permit, construction of the "city" would begin during the 60-day Israel-Hamas cease-fire currently under negotiation.

You don’t have to live or be in Israel to have experience of terrorist attacks. We don’t go around thinking annihilating a population or taking complete control over civilians lives is an acceptable solution to that.

You've lost me. Where is a population being annhilated?

Annihilation is a term I believe to be accurate. Given pps queries here I had a look over news etc articles to see if annihilation is too aggressive a term. It seems not. This article for example notes ‘whilst states argue over terminology ‘…. People can argue but the unfolding outcome remains the same. dictionary definition number 1 then article also using annihilation to describe what’s happening in Gaza. I’ll use the terms I deem appropriate unless I believe the definition wrong. It isn’t.

What agenda do you think I have? I’m not Jewish or Israeli and have no skin in this conflict. I can have an opinion though.

He invalidated himself by giving validation to anti-semites all around the world because Israel is fighting a war to defend its citizens and dismantle Hamas, while making no mention of Hamas who are the reason this war started in the first place.

Netanyahu is the most dangerous thing - not an Iran backed terrorist organisation who carried out Oct 7th and has been/is currently using Palestinian civilians as human shields while indoctrinating them to continue the conflict for generations to come, killing and torturing them for trying to get aid and refusing to surrender and release the rest of the hostages to enable more Palestinians to get killed?

Give me a break.

veiledsentiments · 15/07/2025 19:00

Anonimummy · 15/07/2025 15:49

Oh really, what do you think of Mosab Hassan Yousef?

I think blaming Israel for fighting a war they didn’t start for global antisemitism and putting Jewish people worldwide in danger, rather than putting accountability on antisemites and those who wish to attack/kill Jews because they are Jews with Gaza as an excuse, is absolutely despicable.

Why are you asking about the green prince? A man who was kidnapped as a boy by the IDF? And was subjected to god knows what horrors that it broke him to the level that he betrayed his own people, his friends and his family and even his own father? The anger and shame is blatant just by looking at his eyes. The reason he converted to Christianity is that he craves forgiveness as Christianity is a religion of forgiveness.

Martymcfly24 · 15/07/2025 19:06

You are not Jewish @Anonimummy .
He is.

Absolutely vile to say he has invalidated himself and his own ethnicity because he holds a different opinion to you. Silencing his voice is shameful .

I was asking you to clarify that one Jewish voice doesn't speak for all Jews.

Because you seem to think that Jews in Israel should listen to Mandy Patinkin because "he is Jewish".

But the population of gaza isnt being 'completely destroyed' is it? That is objectively untrue. The numbers killed amount to a very small percentage of the population and a large proportion are combatants (not normal soldiers because Hamas choose a different approach). It is completely normal to kill combatants in a war. Civilian deaths are always tragic but this hyperbole is blatant misinformation.

No I absolutely dont. I gave no indication of that whatsoever. It was to counteract the other poster who seemed to think he should not be allowed an opinion despite being Jewish .

You do yourself and your argument a disservice by using hyperbole like that and by putting words in people mouths.

I'm not using hyperbole I was just asking you to clarify that you don't think that one Jewish voice speaks for all Jews because that is what I took from your post saying "he is Jewish" (so what if he is?).

If you could just engage without going on the attack that would be amazing.

So when are the journalists going to be allowed in? You talk about hyperbole why do we have to rely on only Israeli reports, when we could rely on independent journalists? To rely on Israeli reports is like Dennis Rodman going to North Korea and being shown a supermarket full of food by Kim Jong Yn.

Ok I'm not attacking anybody.

If that is what you read into that I apologize but I would have that it was quite clear from that post and the following one that I was unaware the other poster knew he was Jewish as the sentence.
"Is there a reason you think Jewish people should listen or take heed from an ACTOR"
Stood out from me that they were not grouped in with "Jewish people"

Why would I possibly think he speaks for all Jewish people, but he his opinion is valid (despite what @Anonimummy thinks)

I have no idea. The casualty figures come from Hamas and I think its unlikely that Hamas are significantly underestimating the death toll.

Hamas’ figures over all the years that Israel has “mown the grass” in Gaza have been verified as correct. The figures this time may be incorrect because they only account for verified deaths. How many bodies are under the rubble?

It comes across as going on the attack when you use very negative emotive words such as "vile" & "shameful" to another user, and the moment I engage with you (politely) I get back You do yourself and your argument a disservice by using hyperbole like that and by putting words in people mouths.

It did rather feel like you were after an argument tonight which I am not.

Anyway, there was a sort of apology in your post so thanks.

We will never know the true extent of the deaths. This I fear has been very deliberate... It's tragic. Not even in death will they get justice.

Except it's not illegal to be a Zionist, and I have no issue with being identified as someone who supports the existence of Israel.

I agree from a current % of the population this is correct. However. - the term has been used by others, - it has been and can be used to describe destroyed infrastructure alone - it doesn’t have to be just about % of deaths. Hence, I’m fine with the word but I’m glad I checked so thanks to those who queried it.
