Israels plan for Gazas future

Defense Minister Israel Katz said Monday that he has instructed the IDF to prepare a plan to establish a "humanitarian city" on the ruins of Rafah, which would eventually house the entire population of the Gaza Strip.

According to Katz, the plan involves moving 600,000 Palestinians, primarily from the al-Muwasi area, into the new zone after security screening. Once inside, residents would not be allowed to leave, the defense minister said.

Katz added that, if conditions permit, construction of the "city" would begin during the 60-day Israel-Hamas cease-fire currently under negotiation.

Ok. I think we have established that @veiledsentiments does recognise that Hamas continues to be is a threat to Israel but that is ok. Israel still doesn't have the right to defend herself. She thinks that Israel is causing racists to be antisemitic around the world and the rise is antisemitism is Iarael's fault. And that she, in her own words 'can't be arsed'. I think that's all nice and clear. Do correct me if any of that is incorrect.

@SharonEllis Looking forward to your answer:

I have never said that I support proscribed terrorist organisations. I support the terrorised Palestinian people, as they have been for decades. Will you still be supporting Israel when they are internationally proscribed as terrorists by the UN following investigations for crimes against humanity?

You have been very clear where your sympathies lie in numerous posts and just declaring you dont support terrorists doesn't match up with what you have actually said elsewhere. But this post is very muddled. I don't think there is a mechanism to proscribe Israel internationally as terrorists, which would be ridiculous. I will always support the right of the Jewish people to live in Israel, if they wish. I will always support their right to safety and security regardless of their government and applaud them for their remarkable achievement in building the only truly pluralist multi ethnic/religious democratic state in the middle east. I don't particularly support the Prime Minister or any of the extremists in his government, not that it matters as I am not Israeli. If he is found guilty of anything in a fair trial then obviously I would support the court judgement.

We can all be pro children not being murdered.

We can unite on that.

Many more children murdered today. Including an unknown and unclaimed baby girl found dead on the roof of a car, after she was blown from a nearby building from a nearby building.

They don’t deserve this from any side.

Our silence and taxes support this.

How do our taxes support this?

It’s interesting that you describe Israel as the only truly pluralist multi ethnic/religious democratic state in the middle east. I’m not sure that I can agree with you on this matter. Firstly if you are Jewish you have the right to return as you wish and can hold dual citizenship. However, non Jewish Israeli citizens can not hold dual citizenship and have to go through a rigorous process in order to gain nationality. Land through the Jewish National Fund is almost exclusively allocated to only Jewish Israelis. There have been many reports highlighting that Arab majority areas have significantly lower government spending in public services and schooling.

Not sounding very democratic and pluralistic to me.

Ok I"ll assume its not an argument worth repeating.

Have you got a link for that particular incident of a baby girl found dead on the roof of a car? I‘ve googled it, but couldn’t find anything.

You can assume I don’t have time to rewrite it for you, just because you’re too lazy to search a thread.

veiledsentiments · 13/07/2025 11:07

@SharonEllis and I believe there is currently a thread on this board about a Christian Church and village which has been burnt by the Jewish settlers in the West Bank. So not exactly religiously tolerant either.

SharonEllis · 13/07/2025 11:15

@veiledsentiments you seem very unknowledgeable about the bigger picture and your approach seems to be to pick on examples here and there which you think are some sort of gotcha. Israel is not perfect. I have never said it was, how could it be? Show me a more pluralistic democratic state in the Middle East, then we can talk. In the meantime I recognise the position you are arguing from and I'm not interested in engaging there.

Israel is desperate to be seen as a democratic, pluralistic state by the rest of the world. Unfortunately Israel knows that the majority of the world is now seeing it for what it is, an apartheid state. There are only 3 ways in which Israel can achieve what it wants. A two state solution with Palestine, which they will never agree to. The second way is to go down the road of South Africa in 1994 and give all people democratic rights and citizenship, in other words a single state solution. They won’t agree to this as it would mean that Israel is no longer a primarily a Jewish state. The third option, to put it in the words of Bibi and his government is to “encourage voluntary emigration” of the Palestinian population.
I think we all know what this is called. Currently the option that they are taking.

So, Israel perfect? No, it most definitely isn’t.

There’s been incredibly sparse reporting of the strikes in both the Jabalia and Shati refugee camps in the past two days. The footage is from Shati is on a Palestinian’s Instagram. I can see the same individuals helping retrieve bodies bombed buildings.
I can share footage, but it’s truly harrowing.

If you want to discuss Middle Eastern pluralistic states then I would say Iran is more pluralistic than Israel. In Iran there is no discrimination based on religion whatsoever. The democracy in Iran was destroyed by the UK and America when they overthrew the democratic government and installed the Shah.

What’s wrong with Iran? Or do you blindly follow the western narrative on that too?

I would suggest your unwillingness to engage with me today is because I have pointed out to you that Israel is not the truly pluralist multi ethnic/religious democratic state in the middle east that they wanted you to believe it was. Yet you fell for it.

Can’t be bothered to do your own research? I’ll start it off for you shall I, and then you can look it up for yourself.

In Iran there are permanent seats for all the religious minorities, including Jews, in the Iranian parliament. The current representative of the Iranian Jewish community is a man called Homayoun Sameh Ya Najafabade.

I know. Shall I put her in touch with my Iranian Kurdish refugee friends? Maybe the Bahai's can educate her? How about Iranian apostates and those perceived to criticise the prophet? Oh no they can't speak up because they have been executed. WTAF.
