Lots of people do want this actually. It's not an uncommon opinion.

It's a bloody awful opinion why would anyone want a country to be bombed i think Israel government all deserve what saddam hussein got but I dont want Israeli civilians hurt

MistressoftheDarkSide · 23/06/2025 23:15

Trump has just announced a ceasefire to begin in approximately 6 hours when both sides have "wound down and completed their in progress final missions" and in 24 hours the 12 day war will be over.

And he's God blessing everyone.

It's on his Truth Social thing.

🥴

What the hell are you talking about? You think anyone wants this?

Oppressed women? Are you ok? Like genuinely

No, I don't think anyone wants this. I think it"s a shitshow. I was being a sarcastic feminist.

PoopingAllTheWay · 24/06/2025 01:35

Lets hope they all stick to this ceasefire thats been announced

Im waiting for the ‘Aren't i great, this would of continued without me for years,
From Trump

Twiglets1 · 24/06/2025 05:06

Thank goodness for that.

Some common sense from Iran in recognising they were getting pummelled & agreeing to a ceasefire quickly for the sake of their country & its citizens.

And common sense from Israel to want a ceasefire as they have achieved their goal re Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

Regime change is still needed in Iran but that’s more of an internal matter for them to hopefully bring about by electing a more moderate successor to Khamenei. This war should have shown them why they need that.

MushMonster · 24/06/2025 06:27

Very happy to havong woken up to a ceasefire. Fingers crossed it stays so.

mids2019 · 24/06/2025 06:46

Brilliant news about the ceasefire but the Iranian regime remains in place so we will have to see the long term consequences. Certainly when it comes to negotiation Iran will have seen the consequences of crossing the US.

MushMonster · 24/06/2025 06:51

There are lots of huge issues to sort in the near future.
None of the problems are gone, they have generated more issues which could actually be worst in the long term.
Looking forward to the day the current set of world leaders are replaced by someone with common sense. I think we are doomed with the worst possible combination of all times. None of them is trustworthy. And they do not even care to appear trustworthy.

Twiglets1 · 24/06/2025 07:11

Had to laugh when I read that Iranian public, state TV claimed Trump requested the ceasefire "in a begging-like manner".

Which would be so like Trump ... not!

veiledsentiments · 24/06/2025 08:46

According to the BBC, Iran has just launched new missiles at Israel.

Welp, I guess that's the end of Iran then. What the hell are they thinking??

Yep. Now more widely reported, Iran sent more missiles at Israel, despite agreeing to the ceasefire.

And people ask, why can’t Iran have nuclear weapons.

I wonder what this illustrious period in history will be referred to in future?

The Hokey Cokey Wars? (On, off, on, off, keep 'em on their toes)

The Tit for Tat Wars?

The Edgeplay Wars?

😅😁😄 The "we were on a break" wars,

Israel has just closed its airspace due to the alleged Iranian breach (denied by Iran on Iranian State TV) and Katz has ordered the IDF to "respond forcefully to Iran's violation of the ceasefire with intense strikes against regime targets in the heart of Tehran."

Interesting times indeed.

veiledsentiments · 24/06/2025 09:49

I’ve seen the war in Gaza being called the Hunger Games. Vile.

Iran said that if Israel stopped attacks by 4am then they would immediately stop return fire. Which is basically what they said a week ago and so hopefully this is what will happen sooner rather than later - ie Israel stops and then Iran stops and then they sort out the detail.

What Trump said about reset and long term peace is fantastic, though as part of that reset I think it is necessary to start negotiation on equal footings, and to look at the root causes of the problems and introduce some reciprocity.

Agreeing on a two state solution with Palestine and Israel which is equal and mutually respectful is the absolute priority here. It really is the most fundamental thing. It would go some considerable way towards eradicating causes of conflict. For Iran and Israel to then state that neither will try to destroy each other, neither will try to expand. In relation to US/Iran relationship problems, the parties need to address old history which goes back to the 1970s coup, comments about this keep being requoted and stirred up (looking at you Lindsey...) but fundamentally again, agreeing that in future relationships will be conducted in a professional and principled way - equal - is going to be a lot more effective than unrealistic demands over nuclear issues without repricocity.

Yes I've just returned from a dog walk to see that most unwelcome development.

Why would Iran do that?? It makes no sense to do that after just agreeing a ceasefire and even reporting it on your news.

Whatsinanamehey · 24/06/2025 11:47

Iran claimed they didn't so im guessing there was a miscommunication with orders as they clearly did. But by claiming they didnt i think they do want the ceasefire to hold. They have more to lose than Israel does if the war continues.

According to Trump, Israel also violated the ceasefire.

I don't think Iran did it. They always openly announce/take credit for every operation through their official channels. Sending 1 or 2 missiles that fall into Lebanon is not their modus operandi.

Trump has just truthed the following. Oil price rose slightly this morning on the markets predicting the ceasefire won't hold.

The US has bombed Fordow and other sites.
Whatsinanamehey · 24/06/2025 12:04

@Bellehathor I was wondering this. Well we know Trump is BIGLY serious this time with Israel because he has written the whole message in capital letters, not just a few words.

EasternStandard · 24/06/2025 12:09

Tbf Israel should not retaliate.

May I suggest this one? Published in the Guardian 2nd Jan 2025.

It did quite resonate with me back then.

The US has bombed Fordow and other sites.

He’s just upset about his big beautiful ceasefire.
