mids2019 · 21/06/2025 15:27

Is this the same Iran was enriching uranium for the express purpose of building a nuclear bomb?

Is this the same Iran that was plotting a terrorist attack on a British base in Cyprus?

Is this the same Iran that send missiles against hospitals?

The same Iran which actually has a lot going people in Iran hoping the bombing of military facilities can somehow dethrone a hated Islamist regime?

Wtaf?

Absolutely not. That’s yours and Israel’s agenda you are pushing. The lies and the gaslighting here is incredible. As I’ve said on other posts, the facts are out there. And if you don’t ‘believe’ Palestinian or UN sources, how about reading the many books by Ilan Pappe, Norman Finkelstein, Miko Peled, Gabor Mate etc. All Jewish, all have family who survived the concentration camps or were Zionists. Stephen Kapos, a holocaust survivor is always at these marches and often speaks. Is he a liar?

Stephen Kapos, a holocaust survivor is always at these marches and often speaks. Is he a liar?

That depends on the question being asked. Stephen Kapos maintains that there was no antisemitism in the Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn, that the accusations were totally false - and fabricated in order to drive out left-wing ideas and leaders from the party. Kapos also maintains that there is no antisemitism on the marches. Is he lying on these points? Quite possibly.

Some background information;
Kapos was an active member of the Labour Party in Keir Starmer's local branch until he resigned in early 2023. He was also a member of Momentum. Kapos had previously clashed with Starmer on a motion/debate regarding antisemitism within the party and he was also threatened with likely expulsion if he took part in an event organised by Socialist Labour Network, one of the proscribed Labour groups, so he resigned. In his resignation letter (which he published), Kapos said he was an active member of the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign - he stated elsewhere that he had been a member since 2015.

In an interview (with Middle East Eye on TikTok), Kapos was asked what “From the River to the Sea” meant to him (he has repeated the slogan in his speeches). He said it means a single Palestinian state where all nationalities and ethnicities have equal rights and referenced South Africa. He said the time had past for the two-state solution because the Palestinians (whom he described as the indigenous people) do not have enough land. He acknowledged that it would not be a popular solution with nationalist Israelis - they would have to be re-educated, be progressive or leave.

Well noone can properly make a statement like "there was no antisemitism in the Labour Party" without intimately knowing every single Labour party member, or "there is no antisemitism on the marches" without witnessing the minutiae of every single human interaction on every single march. So I'm skeptical that this is actually what he said. If it is, then it certainly exceeds the bounds of verifiable fact.

If OTOH he simply pointed out that allegations of antisemitism in Corbyn's Labour or on the marches were weaponised for political purposes far beyond their substance, then no he's obviously not lying.

One of his companions said;

'I do not accept that any Jew should be frightened to walk the streets of London and I don’t believe the people who say they feel unsafe in London.'

Not going to rage against the dying of the light?

No. With a disabled husband, can’t waste the energy tbh.

Well I for one feel so much better knowing that the IDF are going to investigate this.

In other news, Ian Brady and Myra Hindley have agreed to lead an investigation into whether the Moors murders actually happened.

Funny.

They would be criticised if they didn’t investigate the claims.

That would be most difficult, since they are both dead. Ridiculous analogy.

CBA to go back and find the post, where somebody reckoned all Hamas operatives must be dead by now. There aren't enough eye rolls for this naivety.

ssd · 28/06/2025 10:24

Certainly all the Hamas operatives wont be dead by now. Some of them are just being born. This genocide by Israel towards the Palestinians, together with the settler violence on the west bank, will undoubtedly produce more hamas operatives in the future which will affect every country that supported this, us included most certainty. Its actually terrifying. The world will feel the repercussions if this for years to come. And antisemitism will keep increasing, even though many many jews are totally against the actions of Israel.
And don't bother saying im condoning antisemitism. Im certainty not.

Its very short sighted to think every young Palestinian bombed out their homes..repeatedly...seen their families frienda and neighbours mudered or injured, been starved and denied schooling, medical treatment and experienced pure injustice, won't grow up with a murderous rage inside them.

And who can blame them.

Dangermoo · 28/06/2025 10:27

Just as well that very Israeli didn't decide to enact revenge for 7/10 and the longer standing oppression faced by Jews.

That was my inference based on Israel saying they don’t target civilians and they have incredibly low ratio of civilians vs combatants in the death count.
I’m with you - that’s a fucking ridiculous statement with so many children dead.

Either hamas are dead, or it is an intentional civilian slaughter.

They are literally enacting revenge for 7/10 at this moment and have been for 20 months.

I guess it's hard to tell how many Hamas are dead, with such high numbers posing as civilians.

Exactly.

I’m obviously aware of the holocaust but that had nothing to do with Palestinians. So what “longer standing oppression” faced by Jews are you referring to in this context? @Dangermoo

ssd · 28/06/2025 12:55

If 56000 deaths isnt revenge for Israels 1250 deaths, what is it then? Its ridiculous to say its not revenge. The world sees this for what it is, no matter what the deluded on mumsnet think.

The IDF are targeting Hamas. It’s not revenge, they are fighting a war that Hamas started.
If Hamas surrendered the war would end, immediately.
Hamas could end the war today.
Why does everyone blame the IDF for trying to protect their people from the terrorists next door?

When did Israeli civilians take up arms, garden hoes etc to slaughter civilians?

That will be a great comfort to the tens of thousands of people murdered in an orgy of bloodthirsty revenge.

Why do Israeli settlers constantly try to burn down Palestinian villages spray painting 'death to Arabs, over homes and even mosques.

Yes sure, thats why they bombed more tents and schools yesterday. They are scum.

The idea that if Israel laid down arms, their population would suddenly be safe, is ridiculous.

A house of a doctor and 10 children was targeted. If IDF thought children were hamas, they are out of their mind and should stay away from arms.

I think they target children.
