Is this the same Iran was enriching uranium for the express purpose of building a nuclear bomb?

Is this the same Iran that was plotting a terrorist attack on a British base in Cyprus?

Is this the same Iran that send missiles against hospitals?

The same Iran which actually has a lot going people in Iran hoping the bombing of military facilities can somehow dethrone a hated Islamist regime?

Wtaf?

Israel cannot destroy Iran's nuclear programme completely on its own and it doesn't look like Trump is inclined to step in so the stated aim of the war will fail

The real aim is regime change but killing innocent people is going to unite the country against regime change and the idea that you could parachute in someone preferable to the US/Israel (Pahlavi????!!!!) is a joke, so that aim will also fail.

So Israel is just killing lots of people for no reason other than attrition of Iranian military capabilities, which is not nothing but hardly worth the risks of escalation and the risks to their own people.

I am horrified by the killing in Gaza, but I have to say, I find the thought of that murderous monster Khamenei cowering and trembling with fear absolutely delicious. It’s all fun and giggles when girls are being blinded and raped to death for the crime of showing their hair, but it’s not so amusing now, eh?

You do realise millions of innocent people are also cowering in fear and thousands have been killed or wounded. How delicious!

EasyTouch · 21/06/2025 18:18

Iran has failed to hear for nearly fifty years.
Bad, not too bad if she had kept her shithousery to herself in that time.
But instead, Iran has been the biggest shit stirrer in the Middle East, funding intra Arab shenanigans and sponsoring terror against Israel and her allies.
Not even sanctions could make Iran chill.
And this is a country/ regime that needs nuclear capability?
Israel is protecting herself against a regime that shamelessly hates her and her people's existence; all whilst doing the West's and Other's dirty work.
There is a lot of worldwide behind the political scenes cheering and relief shitting going on in presidential and parliamentary buildings of countries , a lot that do not even rate or like each other, but fear the extremity of the Iranian regime more.

Of course Russia, North Korea, Belarus, China and various ex Soviet /pro Russia regimes are vexed, but that's their M.O.
Thank you Israel for the protective foresight that will enable a lot of the world to continue availing itself of a lifestyle that means that we do not need to build bunkers for our people like you do, for yours.

xanthomelana · 21/06/2025 18:21

I don’t support either side because I’m against innocent civilians dying, but the hypocrisy from Israel supporters over a hospital getting bombed is unbelievable given what we’ve seen happen in Gaza.

I hope in years to come they study this war and how people were brainwashed into believing that their governments were acting in the interests of the rest of the world.

Hypocritical to whine about Iran having nuclear weapons as well when Israel has been far from transparent about their own nuclear capabilities but I’m sure someone will be along to justify it shortly.

It won’t be easy to topple the evil Iranian tyranny, but plenty of Iranians are keen for it to happen.

They don’t want to be bombed do they? I don’t think they even have bunkers to hide in.

Really? You think that, seriously? Isn’t that just a lazy way to think?

No. It's called history.

I marched today. Along with 350,000 people. I chanted to stop bombing Iran. Israel’s hypocrisy and arrogance makes me sick. Every accusation they have uttered has been a confession. And you and your many posts about Palestine and now Iran are pathetic. You are deliberately trying to provoke a reaction and at the same time waiting for a lot of back patting from the many Zionist supporters that seem to have multiplied on Mumsnet.

Fringle · 21/06/2025 20:34

The average Iranian does not support the psychopath mullahs. The average Iranian is not standing behind the leadership because the Israelis are bombing military sites and killing homicidal maniac Iranian generals. The average Iranian does not support its government’s policy of financing antisemitic and anti-Western terrorism and murder.

The time of post-revolutionary Iran is coming to an end. How violent its demise will be depends on the mass of the Iranian people and any continuing need for Israel or the US to destroy Iran’s ability to harm other countries, including the UK. Iran has been plotting, carrying out or attempting murders in the UK for years.

Anyone supporting Iran’s government - which includes opposing military action against it - is a malicious fool.

Honestly it's like some people have never heard of anti war protests before. Surely the idea of people being pro negotiation, mediation and peace building isn't a new concept to you?

Thanks for marching.

Did anyone see Bill Clinton’s comments?

“Netanyahu has long wanted to fight Iran because that way he can stay in office forever and ever.”

He also urged Trump to

“defuse the current conflict” and curb “the outright constant killing of civilians”

I’m wondering if this is just Bill Clinton’s opinion or if it’s going to be part of a wider strategy from the West to start distancing itself from Netanyahu.

Another clueless individual.

Either you didnt see my earlier post, or you were to afraid to acknowledge it because like the other poster I responded to, you have absolutely FUCK ALL clue about Iran, its people, who they do and do not support.

Utterly fucking clueless. I cant engage with oxygen thieves like this. I'm out.

Most probably swallowed the false rhetoric from the same Washington, London, Tel Aviv and Brussels think tanks that think bombing and killing women amd children will bring them freedom ™️.

An Imperialist, colonial mindset that denies Iranians their agency to decide their own futures.

Fortunately actual Iranians in Iran are banding together in solidarity against this unprovoked attack. There is a sad but heartwarming story of a baker whose brother was killed, who went back to baking 20 minutes later because:
“I won’t stop baking bread for the people,” he says. “This is my front line.”

This.

the audacity of Netanyahu to stand outside of an Israeli hospital and complain about it having been bombed.

Yes, it really is despicable. Glad he knows that, shame he doesn’t see the parallels.

Did he really ? How embarrassing smh

Be as out as you want.

But I’m right. And you’re spectacularly wrong.

What tedium. So they can't be out protesting for the Muslim lives lost in Syria and Yemen, they've managed to go one better. The progressives are now showing their loyalty to a country which executes women and gays. Nice slow round of applause. Will they ever get anything right?

dreamingbohemian · 21/06/2025 22:14

No. Anyone who thinks opposing military action is the same as supporting Khamenei is a malicious fool.

War is a terrible thing. It kills innocent people and in this case risks serious escalation, including to nuclear war. It should only be engaged in as a last resort and if there is a reasonable chance of success (that's not modern international law, that's several thousand years of just war theory). This war will not bring Israel security, it will just kill lots of people who should have lived.

I'm opposed to all repressive dictatorships, that does not justify killing their victims.

TakeMe2Insanity · 21/06/2025 22:19

I imagine for the bulk of Iranians it will boil down to something very simple eg my grandparents/ family live there they can’t evacuate I don’t want them to die or get injured via a bomb.

And who the hell made BN the person to deliver world order?

Here we go again. Part of the script. We’re not allowed to protest unless we take part in other protests too ( which incidentally some of us do). And by the way, this march was planned before this Iranian situation. We march to demand an end to the fucking genocide. And also FYI it has nothing to do with religion. I am a Christian Palestinian with family origins in Haifa and Nazareth.

Script? I doubt the Jewish people, who have to put up with virtuous hand wringing got a copy of the script. What's this latest round of naivety going to achieve?

Ask the huge numbers of Jews on the march.

Huge numbers of Jews - would that include the very huge number who have to avoid your weekly ego demo trip in order to stay safe? 'Marching with demands'. Bloody embarrassing.
