Is this the same Iran was enriching uranium for the express purpose of building a nuclear bomb?

Is this the same Iran that was plotting a terrorist attack on a British base in Cyprus?

Is this the same Iran that send missiles against hospitals?

The same Iran which actually has a lot going people in Iran hoping the bombing of military facilities can somehow dethrone a hated Islamist regime?

Wtaf?

What about them? I prefer to lend solidarity to strong women, who have to navigate in a man's world. They have enough infighting from men.

I find their views abhorrent. I don’t lend my support to people with abhorrent views, regardless of their sex.

I was specifically replying to Twiglets’ comment that women are able to compromise. Some are most demonstrably not.

How coincidental that all those women are Tories. What I find ahorrent is women being executed on made up adultery charges. I don't think I will be placing the Ayatollah at the top of my sources of trust.

What about women being bombed, starved or helplessly watching their babies starve to death?
Do you find those regimes abhorrent too?
I do.

Not going to agree with everyone on everything of course. I remember Gordon Brown getting caught labelling one of his core voters a bigot rather than listening to her concerns and addressing them. He got caught, as did Emily Thornberry. Just because they don't say stuff out loud, doesn't mean they're not thinking it.

Angela Rayner, Rachel Reeves ….

MrsSkylerWhite · 27/06/2025 10:35

And yep, Emily Thornberry. Gets right on my wick. Not in a position of international power, though.

Neither will I. Or Netanyahu. Both nutters.

🤣

Having worked for an MP in Westminster, I’m afraid I’m probably a bit cynical about the breed in general.

No one who thinks they should be in charge should be allowed anywhere near power!

Yes but I’m speaking generally. Of course there are some awful women.

But sadly someone needs to do it and most people aren't prepared to deal with the hassle.

Would you rather lead, or be led?

I think we all find these things abhorrent.

It’s who we blame for them that differs.

Some of us mainly blame Hamas, others mainly blame the Israeli government & IDF.

It’s more hassle working for one! None of the benefits, either.

Lead when I was younger. Not now, do my own thing. Coming close to giving up on news and current affairs tbh. because there’s nothing I can do to influence anything and, selfish though I acknowledge it is, I’d like to avoid upset and stress for whatever life we have left.

I hope all find it abhorrent, but I’m no longer sure. It’s good if we have that agreement.

I believe IDF and Israeli government are not puppets, they have choice. If they are not responsible for their actions, they should not be anywhere close to power.

That’s a strange comment - who suggested the Israeli government didn’t have power?

Of course they are responsible for their actions.

So are Hamas responsible for their actions and they chose to unleash hell on October 7th 2023 that is still ongoing.

So are Hamas responsible for their actions and they chose to unleash hell on October 7th 2023 that is still ongoing.

Hamas military are responsible for 7/10/23.
Israeli government is responsible for the response on 7/10/23 and for 8/10/23 - today.

Israeli government are responsible for their response but wouldn't have needed to make a response had Hamas not planned and executed a massacre of Israeli citizens on 7th October.

So who is really responsible? This is at the crux of many disagreements on MN I think.

The actions of hamas on 7/10 were also a response to Israeli earlier policy towards Palestine. But I believe hamas is responsible for their actions. Why would you find it difficult to hold Israel to the same standard?
