Yikes, Israel might have just attacked Iran!

This is NOT GOOD news!

Israel has declared a state of emergency, at least six explosions in Tehran.

This is seriously unfunny!

Israel has ZERO strategic depth - Iran has plenty. Nukes: see above, reverse!

Why should the ethnicity of these poor women matter - they are Arab-Israelis after all ?

https://www.timesofisrael.com/three-killed-near-haifa-as-iranian-missile-barrage-targets-northern-israel/

A video circulating on social media on Saturday night showed a Jewish family cheering as Iranian ballistic missiles fell in Tamra, sparking outrage from many officials.

“On the village, on the village!” a man could be heard shouting in the clip. He and others then broke out into singing the anti-Arab phrase “May your village burn,” clapping their hands as missiles rained down on the neighboring city.

Here's the video

The ethnicity doesn't matter to decent people. I know one of their relatives, a wonderful soft spoken person who always speaks of peace and just wanting to be able to take their nephew to the beach without having to pass through checkpoints and wanting a better peaceful future. We were all very shocked last night, yet this person remains stoic and hasn't allowed it to bring hate into their heart, quite admirable.💔

As allies of Israel Keir Starmer must be strong and allow the UK to take action to defend Israel against these attacks. The time to stand by is over and we have to look at the greater picture here and intervene in what may be an existential fight.

We have the ability alongside the US to ensure Israel remains defended and we have to look at this world in the way it really is allies and enemies. Israel is a friend and Iran is an enemy. There is an opportunity maybe here for a regime change in Iran and the prevention of an authoritarian dictatorship possessing a nuclear weapon.

So sorry to hear that - it must be doubly diffcult to be an Arab living in Israel constantly under suspicion as a fifth column - still it's better that than being an Arab in Gaza - which is and remains a living hell.

A hard NO.

You don't want to protect Israel?

bigredbusbigredbus · 15/06/2025 13:24

The outline of this is being reported in western press, but this is Associated Press from today with the full statement from Iranian foreign minister, in which he says that if attacks on Iran stop, the conflict stops - for anyone who wants to hear exactly what is being said by the Iranian side with all the detail.

Avi Shlaim is a prominent Israeli–British historian and a key figure among Israel’s so‑called “New Historians.” Born in Baghdad in October 1945, he emigrated to Israel as a child and later moved to the UK, where he is now an Emeritus Professor of International Relations at the University of Oxford and an Emeritus Fellow at St Antony’s College

He first gained attention in the late 1980s when he and fellow revisionist scholars like Benny Morris and Ilan Pappé began re‑examining and revising traditional Zionist narratives—especially concerning the 1948 Arab–Israeli War and the displacement of Palestinians.

Throughout his career, Shlaim has remained a vocal critic of Israeli policy, advocating for critical reflection on Israel’s historical narratives and, more recently, expressing support for a one‑state solution given the realities on the ground toda

From the folly of its own actions - no. It's not a member of NATO either so we have no treaty obligations.

A large dose of salt springs to mind. I will take the exact opposite of his words.

I just skim read the latest posts - in relation to negotiation the video I linked says that there had been 5 rounds of negotiations and the 6th was due today, at which counterproposals to satisfy the US were to be presented.
This is just in response to comments about negotiations.

Yes and how they stay sane, let alone don't let the hatred completely send them mad is amazing.

I've told this story before, but the pictures of the children in Gaza sent a lot of "western" supporters down the path towards actual anti-Semitism. The people that pushed back the hardest and defended Jewish people the most were the Palestinians. So much so that they were abandoned by some as "how can you defend the people killing you" to which the Palestinians replied "that their fight is one against oppression, not against Jewish people".

And Israel launched a pre-emptive attack I’d say that’s the very definition of bad faith.

Well I will open the question to all of the Israeli PM's critics. I've never seen so much hate for somebody who is protecting his own people.

You know he's on trial for corruption in his own country?

Israel's very own Trump who made the fatal mistake of congratulating Joe Biden on his win. Trump never forgets or forgives besides which Arabs have showered him with cash , gifts and Trump properties . I can imagine him saying how much do we pay Israel and what do we get back ? Unlike Joe Biden he's not a Zionist he's a narcisstic , corrupt transactionalist.

please don’t focus on propaganda. These kinds of reports are designed to be published to further demonise Jews. I promise you that nobody was cheering.. save for a few extremist idiot settlers who have zero representation for the rest of us normal people. Israeli Arabs are our business partners, doctors, neighbours, girlfriends, etc and no Israeli I know was cheering. And I probably know a lot more than most people here.

Guardian reporting threats of escalation on both sides. Wonder if brown trousers will become part of the diplomatic uniform as this continues.

Or a Jew living literally anywhere else in the ME…. Please be balanced. By the way my business partner is an Arab Muslim. I’m not sure they feel the way you describe.

Nah, we need a laugh right now. I've been making jokes that WW3 was coming over the last few years and slept through the initial Israeli attack!
