Conflict in the Middle East

Yikes, Israel might have just attacked Iran!

1000 replies

SomeWomanSomewhere · 13/06/2025 01:17

This is NOT GOOD news!

Israel has declared a state of emergency, at least six explosions in Tehran.

This is seriously unfunny!

Israel has ZERO strategic depth - Iran has plenty. Nukes: see above, reverse!

“Can we not see that nobody should be mattered about more... I imagine this poster thinks they should”

What makes you imagine that?

HellsBalls · 14/06/2025 23:12

And the reason we can’t all ‘just get along’ is Iranian Islamist extremists (who govern Iran) have vowed to destroy Israel the first chance they get.
That’s never going to be allowed to happen.

Jujujudo · 14/06/2025 21:26

I am lying beside my children in a bomb shelter in Tel Aviv after receiving warnings of imminent missile attacks. Thank you for being literally the only person I’ve seen on this cesspit of a forum to consider the innocent civilians in Israel as human beings.

Many best wishes @Jujujudo . I can not even imagine how petrifying this is. It sounds horrific, it really does. At the end of the day ordinary people just want to be safe and get on with their ordinary lives. I hope that everyone can understand this. My thoughts are absolutely with you and your family and the many other like you. ❤️

hellohellooo · 14/06/2025 23:37

@Jujujudo sorry to hear that

Also now so many. Can relate to what the innocent Palestinians went through and the fear they felt

This world is a disgrace

MushMonster · 14/06/2025 23:39

In the meantime no UK forces have to risk their lives for yet another dubious, useless, avoidable and totally senseless war.
To then be told by US that we do not pull our weight and we abuse US. And to have our deaths minimised and reduced to a sentence: "random country".
And brace for higher prices and delays in shippings. Yet again.....
2025 is indeed the year that changed the world alliances forever.
We have enjoyed a good number of years in relative peace. Keeping the so many benefits that this brings is not up to Trump and the rest of egomaniacs of the world. It is up to UK government and military. Let's stop following US around like a puppy into each war it enters, or supports. Time to step back and focus on rebuilding our manufacturing.
Trump is crazy and cannot be trusted. He thinks he can control people like Putin or Netanyahu. Yet they are spinning him around in circles. And Netanyahu will yet drag him into a war with Iran, because Trump is stupid. But Starmer should walk out of that and never get involved in this one. I cannot imagine the majority in UK wanting another Afghanistand and Iraq.

You have been very combative until this post.

I wish you well as I wish all the Palestinian parents in similar circumstances the same, without exception.

But I don't think you should be afforded any more care or thought.

This is how wretched the whole situation is. Can we not see that nobody should be mattered about more... I imagine this poster thinks they should, meanwhile tens of thousands of mothers have huddled beside their children while being bombed and bombed again... infrastructure, hospitals, regions decimated, while mothers lay beside their children.

Must we differentiate which mothers and which children?

Are you saying that if you came across a post online from a Gazan woman about the situation she's in and how frightened she was, you would reply wishing her well, as well as wishing well to all the Israelis in frightening circumstances? Would you reply directly to her post to tell her that you don't think she should be afforded any more care or thought than them?

Israeli civilians have been running to bomb shelters since I can remember. My only deep sadness is that Palestinians do not have a Government who provides them with shelters. I know I am in a privileged position that I can even protect my children, despite the horror of yet again being targeted by yet another country wishing we were all dead.

PaxAeterna · 14/06/2025 23:51

I can’t imagine that there will be public support to get involved. But will that stop it happening? The stakes are high if they don’t follow the US. I have always been in two minds whether Trump is actually stupid. This whole thing makes it clear that he is absolutely challenged in the intelligence department. It seems he’s been hoodwinked.

Netanyahu is a very intelligent person, so smooth, so slippery, so shrewd and highly skilled but ultimately that it what makes him so dangerous.

This poster you quoted is filled with so much vitriol towards Jews Israelis that they can’t bring themselves to be kind or even pleasant to one. We are not seen as human - the media has demonised and dehumanised us to the point where it’s acceptable to say shit like this while professing to be a humanist. And when I am referred to as combative, they mean I spend a lot of energy on this forum calling out antisemitism and defending the existence of my country.

HellsBalls · 15/06/2025 00:05

@MushMonster Again, the UK will provide fringe support, there will be no one on the ground fighting a war in Iran. No Israelis, no Americans, no British.
Stop fear mongering.

PaxAeterna · 15/06/2025 00:14

But @HellsBalls if this conflict started to affect shipping routes for example, couldn’t the Uk end up getting involved.

I don’t know if it is fear mongering.

I hope there will be a return to diplomacy, I don’t know for sure but the international governments seem to be advocating for this.

DrPrunesqualer · 15/06/2025 00:17

It’s been announced the Iran / US nuclear talks set to take place in Muscat on Sunday have been cancelled. @PaxAeterna
Not surprising really but very sad that a more diplomatic method couldn’t have been followed through.

No, I cannot fanthom it either.
I just do not want to see UK dragged along US in anything, ever again.
US stopped providing intellegence for the defense of Ukraine under Trump at some point. In the middle of attacks and bombings.

We do have soldiers in the area, who will become targets as soon as US joins in anything.

If you are not worried about any of them being involved in this or any of our military, whether the navy or airforce, then scroll past.
I have the right to be worried and reject the idea. It is a free world.

There won't be any diplomacy. This is now an existential fight for both Iran and Israel.

Also after Trump gleefully announcing yesterday that the talks were just a ruse to lull Iran into a false sense of security due to pride the Iranians would not attend. Ironically considering some Iranians are currently protesting calling for Nuclear weapons it could likely bring the government down.

Oh I absolutely understand this. But my point is that as a non military expert and frankly as someone who is anti war and violence; I don’t know the best course of action but going on what international governments have said it wasn’t the attacking Iran route: they all prefer a diplomatic route. Which even more worrying then, that Israel have acted against their allies and generally in contrary to what international governments are thinking,

They’ve gone rogue essentially and they are armed to the teeth.

MushMonster · 15/06/2025 00:27

No surprise that the talks have been cancelled indeed.
The fact that they have to use other countries air space for the attacks is a huge potential for any of them being dragged in. It just takes a bomb dropped in any of them, or escalating fury on their exchanges.

Exactly, all we have been told as far as the day before the first attack was on the diplomatic route. There were news outlets talking about the recent meetings between Trump and Iran. And the pleas for descalation were the majority response during the previous exchanges between Iran and Israel, not so long ago.

By the way, there were attacks on US and UK military compounds at the time, plus an exchange of the border with Pakistan.
Iran has already threatened to target UK bases if UK gets involved.
UK has already sent RAF fighters to the area.
It is on the news.
How is this fear mongering?

I don't think Pax thinks you're fearmongering ❤️. Anyone that does is not reading the Geopolitical chessboard
correctly. Russia and China are watching too, they may calculate that they'll be next if Iran "falls".

You are rightly concerned and I share your absolute anger that Netanyahu and Trump have put the whole world on a path towards a larger escalation. I'm even more concerned that Keir like the lemming that he is will follow them right off the cliff.

Not for the first time

BelleHathor · 15/06/2025 01:09

By the way after an assassination attempt on a Houthi official, Yemen may have also officially entered the War and have apparently sent a barrage of ballistic missiles towards Israel.

I can’t believe you said that.

You then go on to suggest that this mother, who right now, is taking refuge in a bomb shelter with her children, thinks she should be mattered about more.

And if it couldn’t get any worse, you then have the audacity to make an appeal to humanity.

If you didn’t feel that you could put aside your hatred for a moment in these circumstances, you shouldn’t have responded.

Yet you chose to.

Clearly couldn’t help yourself.

That speaks volumes.
