Yikes, Israel might have just attacked Iran!

This is NOT GOOD news!

Israel has declared a state of emergency, at least six explosions in Tehran.

This is seriously unfunny!

Israel has ZERO strategic depth - Iran has plenty. Nukes: see above, reverse!

To deter war.

So why keep starting them?

Don't ask me, ask the terrorists. I'm bloody glad the UK has them.

The precision strikes line didn't last long.

Defense Minister Israel Katz warns Iran’s leader, Ali Khamenei, that if missiles continue to be fired at Israel, “Tehran will burn.”
“The Iranian dictator is turning the citizens of Iran into hostages and creating a reality in which they, especially the residents of Tehran, will pay a heavy price for the criminal attack on Israeli civilians,” Katz says during an assessment with IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, Mossad director David Barnea, and other top military officials.
“If Khamenei continues to fire missiles at the Israeli home front, Tehran will burn,” Katz warns.

Now try quoting what Iran's commanders have said of Israel.

Whatsinanamehey · 13/06/2025 21:17

I had innocent Israelis in mind who were targeted by today's attack by Iran too but go figure.

Edited

Agree @Whatsinanamehey
According to the last update at least

three Israelis have been killed and dozens injured

in Iran at least 78 have been killed and 320 injured

Because of the amount of battering it's taken in the last two years, in particular? Gosh, I need to get out and enjoy the sunshine. This thread is depressing.

State oppression of women in Iran has got nothing to do with whether some women have decent relationships with men in their lives and 'tell them off'. How appalling to downplay this.

Its about facing the death penalty if you protest compulsory veiling laws and impunity for men who physically attack women for not veiling. Its punishing women for encouraging men to rape them if they are guilty of bad dressing. Its about dying in custody if you fail to comply.

And yes, I've learnt about it from talking to Iranians.

I was not downplaying anything, of course oppression of women is not right.
All I'm saying is that it up to the 93 million Iranians in Iran to decide how to shape their country.

Attempting to impose ideals smacks of imperialism by outside parties. Women and children have often been the victims of these regime change ideas dreamt up in Washington and London when they don't go to plan.

DrPrunesqualer · 14/06/2025 11:56

Meanwhile
Thankful for small mercies that as yet there has been no detected leakage from the nuclear sites.
Despite them being targeted and hit by the Israeli forces.

Yikes, Israel might have just attacked Iran!

It's extremely sad, there's also the hidden impact we don't see.

The mental strain of war, the fear and uncertainty. All the innocent civilians caught up in the middle east conflict deserve better.

Agree
As if the Gaza war isn’t heartbreaking enough now this further escalation has brought death and destruction to yet another level.

Netanyahu and his far right followers need togo.
He is full of pure hate

Iran (and to a lesser extent Hezbollah) used their rocket attacks last year to figure out how to send enough projectiles (drones and rockets) to flood the system and reduce it's effectiveness. Plus each battery only has a limited number of rockets that need to be replenished once used.

This.

Minimising the oppression of many in Iran doesn't help.

Just read each battery costs 50 million dollars.

Imagine if all this money was used for good .

One word: holocaust.

Holocaust was horrific but not relevant to this. This is to do with power games which have been going on for a long time. Holocaust was meted out by Nazi Germany whereas modern day Iran has stated clearly many times (before this attack) that they want a two state solution between Palestinians and Israelis, that is their position, and not to blow Israel off the map.

Yup, also only a limited number are produced yearly.

Also need to account for the cost of flights to intercept rockets.

But it doesn't justify attacking Iran militarily. If you want social change, Iran or anywhere else, military action is not a good call.

93 million who have very little power or control to change things.

Merely going without the veil means being taken by the morality police, beaten, raped and worse as victims have previously testified when they are still alive.

What I said was right but in any event military action is not the answer. No point posters talking about rights of women in Iran if the lives of women and men and children everywhere get destroyed in a world war caused by this.

No, it isn't right. Iran does not want a two state solution. It's incredibly naive to even think that.

Thankfully Iran has so far failed to produce a nuclear bomb because if they did then a) they would need to test it (big radiation leakage somewhere in Iran) and b) if they then used it against Israel then Israel/ Gaza / West Bank would be irradiated.

Thankful to the Israelis for trying to prevent this.

Here is a vlog from last month in Tehran, scroll through it you'll see many women without the veil.

Read up on Colour Revolutions and how security agencies use causes such as Feminism and LGBT rights as a cover to install more compliant regimes.

Are there women being arrested, of course and that is terrible.
