Yikes, Israel might have just attacked Iran!

This is NOT GOOD news!

Israel has declared a state of emergency, at least six explosions in Tehran.

This is seriously unfunny!

Israel has ZERO strategic depth - Iran has plenty. Nukes: see above, reverse!

One word: holocaust.

Do you think that Israel gets a pass on their responsibilities with nuclear weapons because of the Holocaust?

sualipa · 14/06/2025 10:53

The precision strikes line didn't last long.

Defense Minister Israel Katz warns Iran’s leader, Ali Khamenei, that if missiles continue to be fired at Israel, “Tehran will burn.”
“The Iranian dictator is turning the citizens of Iran into hostages and creating a reality in which they, especially the residents of Tehran, will pay a heavy price for the criminal attack on Israeli civilians,” Katz says during an assessment with IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, Mossad director David Barnea, and other top military officials.
“If Khamenei continues to fire missiles at the Israeli home front, Tehran will burn,” Katz warns.

Do you not think that as descendants of the biggest genocide in history, that they would be willing to risk the same happening again?

Israeli Mayor: I’ve never seen destruction like this in my life
The mayor of Rishon LeZion, south of Tel Aviv, expressed his deep shock at the scale of devastation caused by the strikes, in a video message released this morning.
He said:
“I’ve seen a lot in my life, but I’ve never witnessed destruction this severe… the scenes are truly heartbreaking.”

I understand they would have fears but surely the basis for wars and conflict is allowing one country to have a hierarchy over others.. Israel currently have a hierarchy due to their non compliance with the standards of nuclear weapons and there being no consequences for thism

That’s interesting as I have heard Israeli representatives on radio talking about their hope for regime change in Iran. I can certainly see the benefits of it for Iranians, especially women.

I wonder if Iranians feel bitter about other governments having meddled in their leadership in the past. Who knows were we would be now in they hadn’t be doing this over the last 70 years or so. Khomeini came in with immense support on back of prior US meddling.

There must be complex feelings of citizens in Iran at present. I imagine anger at their leadership but also at Israel for what they have done in their country and the killing of their scientists, as well as what’s happened in Gaza.

Somehow I can’t see US allowing a democracy in Iran unless they also know they have a pro- U.S. / Israel puppet in place. No doubt there will have been a lot of background manoeuvring going on that will only come out after many years.

Doesn’t always work though - see Hamas, also in response to what Israel had been doing in the region.

https://news.sky.com/feature/why-the-us-and-iran-hate-each-other-11634650

And therein lies the problem. The whole region has been so destabilised by "meddling" often justified by some excuse of bringing democracy or freedom especially to women. In truth it's all about control of resources (Oil, minerals, shipping lanes).

I often chuckle to myself when all the women are described as oppressed (not discounting some regimes where this is the case, though we're happy to trade with them aka Saudi). They're just as diverse as we are, listen to a Lebanese or Iranian woman tell the men off in Arabic or Farsi!

The way to change the regime if the 93 million Iranians living in Iran actually want that is not through bullying but through trade. BRICS is working towards that building a land bridge that will pass through Iran on the way to Europe. Prosperity will allow travel and the sharing of ideas. We can learn so much from Iranians as they can from us making us all richer on the end.

With nuclear weapons comes massive responsibility so the Holocaust is not an excuse for not allowing inspections of your nuclear facilities. Your response makes no sense.

I read an analysis that this attack from Israel is more likely to unite the people with their leaders, rather than against them.

If you don't provide a source I will assume it was someone on X or Reddit.

If Iran had nuclear missiles, Israel would be gone. Israel's nuclear purpose is one of defence. Can you honestly say the same of Iran?

Well no, it wouldn't do to somebody who sees the conflict through a narrow lens.

State oppression of women in Iran has got nothing to do with whether some women have decent relationships with men in their lives and 'tell them off'. How appalling to downplay this.

Its about facing the death penalty if you protest compulsory veiling laws and impunity for men who physically attack women for not veiling. Its punishing women for encouraging men to rape them if they are guilty of bad dressing. Its about dying in custody if you fail to comply.

And yes, I've learnt about it from talking to Iranians.

Completely agree.

No one should have nuclear weapons period.

No one gets a free pass on this, no matter the history.

Dangermoo · 14/06/2025 11:26

A free pass? This gets better.

anotherside · 14/06/2025 11:28

@Firealarm1414

Maybe this is the moment that the pro Palestine people jumped the shark?

What I find strange are the people who consistently purposely try to represent others’ opposition to what Israel has been doing in Gaza: Blockading access to food is a war crime and that is what Israel has done. That is a fact. And much its bombing has been indiscriminate and again, borderline war crime.
14,500 child deaths (UNICEF) is simply not acceptable. And this reality has nothing to do with one’s take on the wider Israel-Palestine conflict or the developing Iran-Israel conflict.

The evil acts/policies of Hamas do not excuse Israel its own myriad crimes in Gaza. It’s really not that difficult a point to grasp surely.

From what I can tell, that missile landed in between 4 low rise buildings and basically damaged/ destroyed them.
4 buildings.

X posts of what that mayor was refeering to SM posts are starting to slip through. Iran is claiming they hit mutiple military targets. My fear is neither Israel nor Iran will back down and Iran resorts to assymetric warfare in the Gulf and unleashes most of what they have in terms of missiles fearing losing them in further strikes. This is not looking good and that's an understatement and Gaza appears to have gone dark and been forgotten. Grim times likely to get grimmer.
