Conflict in the Middle East

Yikes, Israel might have just attacked Iran!

This is NOT GOOD news!

Israel has declared a state of emergency, at least six explosions in Tehran.

This is seriously unfunny!

Israel has ZERO strategic depth - Iran has plenty. Nukes: see above, reverse!

I'm not sure why you think Israeli leaders would care about that? Israel have quite the long list of rape and sexual assault allegations(that they investigate themselves and clear themselves of), when they found out children were raped and sexually assaulted in prison they closed down the organisation that brought it to light. Should Israel be bombed too? Will you cheer that on too?

I’m not sure if she made it up or maybe quoted it without double-checking, but either way, it does make me a bit wary about trusting the rest of what she’s shared.

I'm not saying it's untrue but there are just 2 google pages with that qoute most in the last few hoiurs from pro-Israel accounts - the Hasbara is strong on this. What else have you got wrong in that case ?

Update it came from "The quote “Virgin female prisoners should be raped before execution so that they do not go to heaven” is attributed to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the former leader of ISIS (Islamic State).
This statement reflects the brutal and extremist ideology promoted by ISIS regarding treatment of prisoners, particularly women. It is one of many horrific justifications used by ISIS for acts of violence and sexual slavery."

“Prison rape has existed since the early days of the Islamic Republic," said Azadeh Kian, a French-Iranian sociologist, noting that Amnesty’s findings were unsurprising.

"In the 1980s, young women arrested for political offenses were raped before execution. Their executioners thought that if they were virgins, they would go to heaven, which they should not be entitled to. A temporary marriage was organised and a dowry in the form of sweets sent to the girl's family," Kian said.

All of this has been debunked.

You can reason with North Korea?

They don’t seem to be spreading terrorism across the world or have fanatics in government.

So correcting my statement, they keep themselves to themselves.

Have you been asleep? Israel has been bombed. Constantly.

Do you remember the ballistic strikes on Israeli civilians in October 2024? Only one civilian — a Gazan man living in the West Bank — was killed, thanks to Israel's highly effective defence systems. The intent was clear: civilians were the target, unlike last night.

And what about the drone attacks today intercepted by Israel — and by others like Saudi Arabia and Jordan — thank God, before they could reach and harm civilians?

And are we forgetting that since 2006, Hamas, acting as a proxy for the Islamic regime, has launched nearly 20,000 rockets into Israel?

Can you see the difference between cheering on an operation that takes out really unpleasant, genocidal theocrats and their military infrastructure, vs. strikes aimed at innocent civilians?

Also, have Israeli women been driven into the shadows and are they routinely hauled off into vans by immoral thugs who assume themselves guardians of morality? Thats what the Islamist Regime in Iran has done to their women. In Israel women have equal rights and are not being chased down the streets by the secret service for having the audacity to simply show their hair.

You seem to have zero understanding as to why last night happened. At this point, a conflict between Israel and Iran is inevitable. Israel had to make a choice: confront a nuclear-armed Iran with thousands of ballistic missiles — or act now, while Iran is still without nuclear weapons.

Israel had to pick a struggle.

Israel chose to defend its existence.

Thanks. I don’t want Iran to have nukes who does? But you can see why they might try. They’ve seen what happened to Iraq and Libya when they didn’t have them, and they’re surrounded by nuclear-armed powers. It’s not ideal, but it’s hardly shocking either.

What baffles me is this idea that lobbing bombs at them will somehow make things better. It won’t it'll just light another fire in an already unstable region, and we’ll all end up feeling the fallout one way or another.

And where were all these armchair experts when 500 of us were out marching with CND from St Martin-in-the-Fields back in ’79, Monsignor Bruce Kent at the front, or camping at Greenham Common freezing our arses off to stop this sort of nuclear madness? We’ve been banging on about this for years. Funny how it’s only a crisis now.

And while we’re at it can the international agenices maybe get round to inspecting Israel’s nukes too?

I don’t know who you are referring to here, but I wasn’t born until the 1990s, so that’s where I was. In a state of non existence.

You seem to have zero understanding if you think it has anything to with rape as per your first post. Like I said Israeli leaders don't care about that or else they would have sorted out their own soldiers that commit rape and sexual assault first. Israeli leaders don't care about human rights, they run an apartheid system in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, they don't let men or women walk down certain streets. Don't pretend this is about Israel trying to help the woman on the street in Iran. Israel cares about Israel.

GretaGreen · 13/06/2025 15:46

No it hasn't. You can keep saying that but it hasn't. Show me proof that rape and sexual assault in Israeli prisons has been 'debunked'. That the UNs report on Israeli sexual violence has been 'debunked'. You might not believe Palestinians but human rights organisations do. So do most of the Europe if the polls on Israels popularity are correct.

I didn’t say it was linked, I said the Islamic regime of Iran is deeply misogynistic, brutal theocracy that suppresses women, hence its leadership deserves everything it gets.

Also, you don’t understand the meaning of the word Apartheid. But I know it’s fashionable to trot it out every now and then. Only it belies your complete ignorance.

How would you describe their attitude and actions

Dangermoo · 13/06/2025 16:03

"Iran's no angel". A statement right up there with the naive belief that Iran is the lesser of the two evils, compared to Israel. I had the misfortune to sit and watch, in its entirety, the stoning of Soraya M. I suggest every western woman watches this depiction - which is based on fact - to see where your blinkered minds will take you. You are merely in denial of a middle Eastern force, that has zero regard for your welfare.

No—show us concrete evidence that rape and sexual assault actually occurred in Israeli prisons. I’m talking about court cases that led to real convictions, not just unverified claims.

Just because a politically motivated “human rights” organization says something doesn’t automatically make it true. Assertions aren’t proof.

And as for these so-called polls where a “majority” of Europeans condemn Israel—let’s see them. Who conducted them? Were they sponsored by Qatar, or left leaning news outlets by any chance?

ES, her two sons were made to throw stones at their mother, who had been falsely accused of adultery. Yet here we are, with doubts about 7/10 because the truth is hard to stomach. Once they've done with Israel and eradicated the Jews, they are heading west. They have been infiltrating the west for a long time, in prep for this. Of course, you will just be asked for proof. This forum has been an echo chamber, which hasn't got out of second gear for nigh on two years. It's easier to just side with the minority, who is seen as the most vulnerable. No objectivity, just emotive rants.

I agree with the description. I don't agree with escalating violence in the Middle East though, I don't agree that Israel's bombing of Iran today will do anything positive for the people of Iran or Israel.

It’s South Africa pushing the arguments at the ICJ regarding “apartheid”. A few home truths….

South Africa today is increasingly aligned with Russia, China and Iran.

South Africa’s government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the terrorist group Hamas in 2018.

Some South African commentators and experts, believe Iran or another ally of Hamas could have paid or influenced the South African Government to take Israel to the ICJ.

South Africa’s ruling party, the ANC, was on the brink of bankruptcy, but in the same week that it filed its case against Israel at the ICJ, announced its finances were now stable.

Yes, I’m sure it’s not politically motivated at all.
