Thought this might be worth its own thread. The freedom flotilla The Madleen was getting close to Gaza but seems to have made a diversion, as it was the closest boat to answer a distress call. They seem to also have four Sudanese asylum seekers on board who were trying to escape the Libyan coast patrol.

The UK and France are asking Israel for its safe passage.

I think they are quoting scripture talking of the end of times. There's many evangelicals who believe all Jews will become Christians at the end of times too.

Hamas are without doubt an anti-semitic group, i don't dispute that I only disputed that their current goal is to rid the entire world of Jews.

There's other extreme clans in Palestine who are supposedly linked to IS, these are extremists who Netanyahu is arming and working with. Why isn't there an uproar over this? Why are all those people who falsely accuse posters on mumsnet of supporting terrorism not calling out Netanyahu for arming other Palestinian terrorists? Do these ones suddenly love all Israelis?

No, Israel Katz wanted to record them whilst they watched the footage but the foreign ministry stopped him.

According to haaretz a source involved in the incident said that Katz wanted the room to be videotaped as they watched the movie.

There is a VAST difference between Americans debating theology thousands of miles away and Hamas operatives living next door bringing up their children to stab Jews at bus stops and believe they will die as gloriius martyrs. Its easy for you to dismiss and minimise from a safe space many miles away but Jewish people live with this threat in Israel and across the world and Jewish people are being murdered by extremists not just in Israel but in Europe and the United States. And your complacency is a disgrace.

Well, we are like little ants underneath of that heavy wheel. Some of us are further away from the centre, here in UK. But Gaza, Israel and the West Bank are just underneath it, on its path. This type of strategy needs to end to make space for lasting peace.

He propped up Hamas to undermine the PA and how did that work out? He's now propping up extremist IS linked clans in Gaza to undermine Hamas. Does he think the outcome will be different this time?

What about all those people who say that you can't expect Israel to negotiate with terrorists. Right, but you can expect them to ARM and work with other terrorists of their choice from Gaza. Make it make sense.

Anyway, this is all derailing on my part from the topic of the flotilla.

Exactly Hamas amended their Charter in 1988 from killing Jews to "occupying Zionist aggressors " purely for PR reasons with the added bonus being that they (and also anyone else) can define "Zionist " in whatever way they choose.

You see it all the time on MN with "Zionist" being used as a code word for Jews. For example "I'm not against Jewish people, only against Zionists etc" without defining what they mean by "Zionist ".

For so many people taking the side path to mock others is the preferred option, instead of staring at the ugly truth on the face. That is one of the reasons why the world is moving backwards.

So she could have watched it without fear of her reaction being scrutinised then.

I’m not getting the minimisation posts either. Looking at words and actions it’s clear surely.

So of the 12 passengers, Thornberg and three others agreed to be deported.

The 8 others refused to leave , so now their deportation case has to go before a court and in the meantime they are being held in detention.

Rather curiously the pro Palestinian Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) has called this detention illegal and for the 8 to be allowed to leave Israel.

So you now have a bizarre logic where 8 people are refusing to voluntarily leave Israel so it has to go to court ,but at the same time their own FFC group are calling for them to be allowed to voluntarily leave Israel and claiming they are being illegally detained.
