Anti Israel Rhetoric is rife. Why?

cindyhove · 05/04/2025 14:19

As of April 5, 2025, numerous armed conflicts are ongoing worldwide, varying in scale and intensity. According to the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, over 110 armed conflicts are currently being monitored, encompassing both international and non-international engagements.
why is israel the only one to be demonised out of the current 110 conflicts?
The answer is blindingly obvious

Hamas started this 7/10
Civilians die in every war
Always have
Always will
All Hamas had to do was return the hostages over a year ago
Every Palestinian death is on them

Israel may indeed have been under attack since the start, but their territory has consistently increased through every conflict. They are not just defending themselves,

I think most people don’t have a ’side’ in this conflict and are happy to condemn the terrible actions of both. But apparently that’s not good enough to avoid being antisemitic.

This is not what I see here, or in RL. People who support Palestine overwhelmingly hate Israel and either deny what Hamas did on Oct 7th or justify it, or even celebrate it. I’ve had real life conversation like this.
It is really obvious that people are laying all the blame on Israel. I feel it’s dishonest to pretend this is not what is happening.

No other group of people against whom such an atrocity was committed, would so quickly have had people turn their faces away from them. There was a pro-Palestine group in the UK that applied for a pro-Palestine rally WHILST the October 7 th massacre was occuring . Posters of hostages were torn down. It’s been appalling. This is true dehumanization happening right before our eyes in Britain. And people aren’t even acknowledging it is happening, let alone condemning it

Yes...even before Israel retaliated, there were anti semetic incidents in the UK after Oct 7...but I'm sure someone will be along to tell me we're always weaponising anti semetism...

No it’s because it’s how wars work. Armies no longer line up to battle in fields, and have not for some centuries. We killed German civilians in WW2 in great numbers. Was that unjustified? Should we have not fought the Nazis as it was unfair on German civilians? What would have been the outcome if the allies took that stance, do you think?

“It’s how wars work” Very easy for you to say sat peacefully in your first world country with your organs inside your body

CuteOrangeElephant · 05/04/2025 16:43

Both Hamas and the current administration in Israel are horrible and both have caused enormous suffering.

It's not antisemitic or demonising Israel to think this.

RedHelenB · 05/04/2025 16:46

Why do you think?

Tattletwat · 05/04/2025 16:49

The Hamas side has hostages who need to be released, a side that has hostages ain't the good guys.

Snorlaxo · 05/04/2025 16:49

Within the UK, the most supportive politicians for Israel seems to be Reform which is enjoying the chance to be anti-Arab rather than genuinely support Israel. There is a definite trend for right wing politicians in other countries to also favour Israel. these days It’s hard to support the policies of more than party because people prefer that you stick to a fixed side whatever they say. Most reasonable people probably do think release the hostages and stop the bombing but this is not an opinion that is heard from those in power.

Russians would disagree with Israel being the only vilified power. Trump will help that cause but there’s lots of anti Russian feeling and voices in the UK

Of course, but it’s also true. The difference between you and me is that I am angry at Hamas for starting this war. All this unnecessary pain and death is appalling. I am not blasé about it.

You blame Israel. And to use your argument, it’s very easy for you to do that when your neighbour is not a terrorist dictatorship that is dedicated to your complete eradication and recently murdered and raped and tortured your fellow citizens, baby child, man and women in a mass racist attack, many of whom you knew or were related to, has fired tens of thousands of rockets at you, is still launching terrorist attacks and promises to commit many more October 7ths, isn’t it? It’s really easy for you to condemn Israel from your comfortable position, isn’t it?

MJOkayy · 05/04/2025 16:51

Because Israel is committing genocide and ethnic cleansing and they r slaughtering children on an unprecedented level.

Most people don't like to watch babies being blown to bits or toddlers orphaned. Most people can't tolerate a genocide unfolding in front of their eyes

Netenyahu is a psychopath.

Citylady88 · 05/04/2025 16:51

There's a catholic church, a protestant church and there was an eastern orthodox church until the Israelis bombed it and murdered 18 people. There is also a Christian monastery.

This is a despicable thing to say.

Please go and google the term holocaust inversion.

It's extremely offensive

Israel has far more Palestinian hostages than Palestinians have Israeli ones. Wake up.

Grapewrath · 05/04/2025 16:53

I don’t think anyone would justify the actions of Hamas, however the Israeli government just want to flatten the lot. International war crimes are usually very much frowned upon so I guess that answers your question about why there is so much anti Israeli rhetoric
Nethanyahu is a psychopath of the first order

A lot of them are criminals, rather than people taken from their lives but hey.

There is no genocide. 2 million Arab Muslims live in Israel. These numbers have increased vastly since the state of Israel formed. I have already outlined many times on this thread how Israel has sought to reduce deaths of Gazans in the war ( a consideration Hamas does not extend to Israeli citizens in its attacks) and how Hamas is refusing to protect its own civilians.

FixTheBone · 05/04/2025 16:18

Didnt take long for someone to conflate criticism of israel, and by extension the isreali government with criticism of all Jews....

Fwiw I'm fully behind all israelis protesting against their own government. Netanyahu and the people supporting him are evil monsters.

I mean I’m sure there are people out there who are anti-Israel and not antisemitic. I’m just yet to meet one.

TokyoKyoto · 05/04/2025 16:55

I've been anti-Israeli state for as long as I can remember, being aware of the many and various ways they have treated Palestine and Palestinians. So we are talking 30-odd years of awareness. Now they have committed genocide and what would you like people to say about that? <shrug>

What other countries are you "anti"? Or is it just Israel....

American pro Hamas activists have been shown to be coordinating directly with Hamas.

This is a frankly bizarre thing to say when there are Jews campaigning against the genocide of Palestinians. Quite bonkers.

The majority of those killed are male combatants, actually.

There are no churches in gaza nor were there before the war and no Israel are not being antisemitic

Some of earliest churches in Christianity were in Gaza.
