Conflict in the Middle East

Anti Israel Rhetoric is rife. Why?

1000 replies

cindyhove · 05/04/2025 14:19

As of April 5, 2025, numerous armed conflicts are ongoing worldwide, varying in scale and intensity. According to the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, over 110 armed conflicts are currently being monitored, encompassing both international and non-international engagements.
why is israel the only one to be demonised out of the current 110 conflicts?
The answer is blindingly obvious

I’ve seen threads where posters ask how a race who suffered so appallingly at the hands of the Nazis can subject the Palestinians to this kind of oppression
That’s not the same thing

I have also seen posters ask that question...I consider it to be anti semetic.

Why ? It’s a reasonable question. Throughout history Jews have been persecuted and the holocaust was an obscenity - a stain on humanity. Why does the establishment of their homeland have to involve the oppression of another people and the stealing of their land ?

Kakeandkake · 08/04/2025 18:37

CrunchyKnees · 08/04/2025 18:33

Yep! Clinging onto power so he can continue to commit alleged genocide and other war crimes and end up in The Hague for life rather than a few years or a suspended sentence (if found guilty) in an Israeli prison.

Makes sense.

I suppose you are also a Trump supporter?

Using the holocaust as a stick to beat Jewish people with is unacceptable.

Even if you are horrified and upset with what has happened to the Palestinians it does not actually have much in common with the holocaust at all....

It is disrespectful to the victims

Absolutely.

Apologies for not fitting into the usual MN demographic but diversity and all that.

My great grandmother was Jewish, about a quarter of my extended family are. Your weaponisation of the term antisemitism does nothing to counter actual antisemitism it actually dilutes the cause.

Where did I weaponize antisemitism?
The last thing I want to do is dilute the cause, and I do genuinely want to counter it. So please can you show me where I did that and I will go away and learn from it? Genuine ask, please?

I don't need to 'research' his background, he's a wanted war criminal for crying out loud. He's also corrupt.

No he's not, he's not been found guilty of anything

That’s right and you know I teach my DC to do their own research on something or someone that they want to give an opinion on THEN form an opinion, not just blindly follow the popular view.

Shame all parents don’t do that isn’t it?

Me too, I've told my kids how important it is to be independent and form their own opinions even when it's so easy just to go along with the crowd or you want to be seen as 'cool'. My youngest especially is a very deep thinker and definitely follows their own path.

Speaking of, have you seen the footage of Pro-Palestinian protesters chanting from the river to the sea but when asked can't name the river or the sea? 🫣🤣

Penathought · 08/04/2025 18:58

dairydebris · 08/04/2025 15:56

Yep. I fully stand by it. I'd expect any soldier to shoot first think later in many war situations. And if you'd read the first thing about war you'd understand what I mean.

Do you expect every single soldier in the heat of war to be able to correctly analyze every single interaction? Or just the Israeli ones?

Do you really mean you agree with soldiers shooting whoever they see and not pausing to look at who they are shooting? That is mad! That is part of their training to be able to quickly identify the enemy before shooting. But in this case, they actually shot the medics individually once they were outside the ambulance, some with their hands tied, so not in the heat of war.

So out of thousands of protestors, a journalist finds one who can't name the river. I assure you that all the people I've met on the protests know the river. That includes the many Jews who are also part of the protests, especially the Orthodox Jews who attend every march, and because they can't take any public transport on the sabbath, walk from North London to Central London - men & children.

I'm sorry what part of what I said made you think there was just one?

whathaveiforgotten · 08/04/2025 19:07

Were you being sarcastic when you said you’re a Trump fan @CrunchyKnees?

Trump who has had countless accusations of sexual assault and found liable for sexual assault and defamation of his victim?

Trump who has 34 felony charges related to falsifying business records to cover up an affair?

I can’t imagine being a woman and openly saying you like a man who has had countless women accuse him of sexual assault. Do you think they’re all lying? Or do you believe at least some of them are telling the truth but like him regardless?

I've answered this a few times, I'll try again. I don't condone it. I say it's inevitable in the heat of war that soldiers will sometimes shoot first, think later. I expect it.

I say this because there has never, ever been a war where civilian casualties and friendly fire incidents havent taken place. And I don't assume every soldier is hell bent on killing civilians and also his buddies across the way. I assume they are making mistakes. Some might by psychopaths for sure, but some are plain mistakes. And I also don't believe there is a higher than usual rate of psychopathy amongst members of the IDF.

The friendly fire casualty rate for American soldiers in the Iraq War has been estimated at 17% for example. I don't think that was on purpose. I think it was because it's extremely difficult to always make the right call when you're terrified, deafened, injured, and someone is shooting at you.

As I've also said a few times, the recent ambulance incident sounds like an out and out war crime. Sounds like. But I wasn't there. And neither were you. So I can't be 100% sure.

Yes it is quite terrifying to this see this in university students who are supposed to be intelligent and have the capacity to be deep thinkers and question, and who are supposed to be our future leaders.

They don’t even know where the keffiyeh originated from or what Judea and Samaria means in relation to colonisation!

Many politicians have questionable backgrounds. Nelson Mandela was labelled a terrorist and was on the US watch list until 2008. He was also imprisoned for 27 years.

I do believe Trump is a misogynist but you’d be hard pressed to find a powerful man who isn’t sadly and that’s pretty much a fact.

The fact that there was so much force put into him not being President shows that there was a reason some people didn’t want him in power and I think the DOGE has proved that.

He also quite rightly doesn’t want wars, which I agree with, and has a policy of putting his own citizens first. He’s also a businessman which is who you want running a country not a political puppet, like Biden who obviously was dangling from someone’s string.

Kamala was a shitshow. Shame that’s all the US could come up with as opposition.

I like Elon as well btw.

Sorry, to be clear do you think on balance it’s likely that he has sexually assaulted women? I asked that specifically as I was interested to know whether you thought they were lying or thought they were telling the truth but describe yourself as a fan of his despite believing he has sexually assaulted women.

Kakeandkake · 08/04/2025 19:56

Trump, Netanyahu and Elon 🙃

whathaveiforgotten · 08/04/2025 19:59

Not sure you can count being a misogynist (as you’ve described him yourself) and / or sexually assaulting women as a history of putting citizens first when 50% of those citizens are women, or being found guilty of felony charges for falsifying business records as a history of being a competent businessman but each to their own I guess. I don’t know what’s more concerning, Trump fans having sons or having daughters.

Kakeandkake · 08/04/2025 20:11

Do you want to try debating people's arguments instead of their being parents? Especially on a parenting board, it's not exactly in the spirit of MN is it?
