As if the anguish isn't enough!

Confirmed this morning that Shiri Bibas has been returned home .
May her memory be a blessing
. Just a shame that Hamas didnt get it right the first time, I dont think for one second that it was an honest mistake..
At least now Yarden and the whole Bibas family will have some closure even tho it is not the result that anyone wanted.

She's not defending anything though, she's said both sides lie which is a fact

Exactly.

I was just coming to post this thank you for updating us @shalva . It's tears of heartbroken relief for that poor family. Now they can be laid to rest.

I don’t believe there are Hamas supporters here. You can say that Israel have lied without supporting Hamas. It is desperately sad that Siri Bibas and her children have died and maybe a day to remember them? They are innocent victims caught up in a hellhole situation.

AniBocha · 22/02/2025 08:16

@justanothercrapbedtime 'died'?
THEY WERE STRANGLED TO DEATH!
A toddler and a baby. Their tiny bodies paraded on stage and cheered on by people who you seem to think deserve an understanding.

Think on that and then decide if you're on the right side of history here.

You are downplaying what's happened and it is disgusting.

Do you think possibly this latest atrocity could be a turning point and the scales will fall from the eyes of the Free Palestine supporters?

Given the radio silence of the few I know online who really enjoyed having an 'underdog' to preach about...yep.

KatieDR · 22/02/2025 08:43

The support for Hamas terrorism is beyond the pale. Just yesterday, I had a colleague, in a very professional setting comment on how Israelis hostages are described as hostages in a broadsheet newspaper but Palestinian prisoners are described as prisoners. I have quite enough by this point so I replied, yes because they are prisoners, accused of crimes. And the hostages were ripped from their homes. The world has lost its moral compass. Ghoulish and terrifying scenes in Gaza of civilians glorifying murder and death.

I think for some it will be a tipping point and the pendulum will start to swing back. For those who believe Israel shouldn't exist it won't make a jot of difference. That's the ultimate end point (starting point?) of their whataboutery, that Israel is responsible for the Bibas murders because it exists. Even if most of them won't say it out loud.

They're not all prisoners accused of crimes though, some are innocent detainees accused of nothing and still being held, there's an actual thread on here about one such person..

inamarina · 22/02/2025 09:21

That would be amazing, yet even on this board I’ve some impressive mental gymnastics in the last couple of days.
The highlight was the claim by a poster that it’s ‘understandable when people cheer at the sight of their dead tormentors’.
Absolutely mind blowing.

There is no equivalence between the hostages and those detained by Israel who are suspected of wrongdoing.

ALL of the Israeli hostages are hostages. ALL OF THEM.

What about the ones who haven't been accused of wrongdoing?

We knew from the start what sort of people Hamas were. Shani Louk. The filming and glee during October 7th . The atrocities . The ongoing hostage torture .
And yet still people marched every week for Palestine. No reference in the marches to the hostages. Instead anti semitic sentiments were commonplace on the marches.
Posters on here pushed back aggressively when I asked why there was no condemnation of Hamas from the pro Palestinian protesters.
counter protesters who condemned Hamas or held posters of hostages were abused. Pro Palestinian marchers thought that was ok .

I was ( and still am) sympathetic to Palestinians.
But I am beginning to truly loathe the protestors in the west .

I'm not talking about the Israeli hostages though, you said the Palestinian prisoners were all accused of crimes, which of course we know isn't true

Nothing justifies the behaviour of Hamas.
Your constant attempts to suggest there is equivalence are very revealing about you.

I didn't see anything about 'all' the released Palestinians being prisoners. I flicked back through this page to check.

Some of those released have been convicted of multiple murders. And Kfir Bibas had done what, precisely?

I'm having the same at work, Katie. The level of ignorance is astonishing.

Wow that's terrorist support of the extreme kind. Awful

DoubleShotEspresso · 22/02/2025 09:47

I cannot watch the handover today, this is so utterly depraved .
I really hope these public handovers cease and we stop permitting public platforms for these wicked people.
I despair at the volume of posters here defending this relentless terror, MN too for facilitating such hatred.
Shame on them all-am praying 🙏 today for a better world.

Yes

I hope this is the end of this family's torment, and they can begin to grieve and deal with their loss.
💛
I am disgusted by the images this morning of the hostages release. There is no humanity or dignity on show there.

Enough4me · 22/02/2025 09:48

Yes I see the justification in some of these messages.
Isreal wasn't supposed to attack Hamas back even when they attacked and took civilians. After all, Hamas had tunnels and rockets and stood behind women and children. They took their jackets off and joined their friends.
Now Hamas has useful supporters who, instead of condemning them, focus their sights on Isreal.
