Ethnic cleansing is a horrific crime. It usually involves marching entire populations into a desert, getting them to dig their own graves, and shooting them. That happened to the Yazidis. It happened to the Armenians during the creation of Turkey.

You minimise those crimes when you appropriate the word for some hysterically imagined future, based on Trump saying he'd like to own Gaza.

I'm quite sure that whatever happens in Gaza, some people will keep shouting 'ethnic cleansing', and will find some way to twist the definition to include it. It's wrong, and you shouldn't.

Just because you don't understand what a particular war crime is, doesn't mean it isn't happening.

Same as every single genocide discussion on these boards.

Ethnic cleansing actually is technically not a war crime or any crime. It’s not really a legal term.

The forced deportation of gazan’s as Trump is talking about would unquestionably be against international law. Deportation in this instance is a war crime and a crime against humanity. Like it is quite clear cut. It has nothing to do with deserts or digging graves. You just can’t legally deport a population like this.

It would be most likely an unlawful deportation of population and unlawful transfer of population.
As is on Putin's arrest warrant for crimes in parts of Ukraine.

I think the ethnic cleansing not being a crime is because many of the factors are covered under genocide so it could muddy waters?
And yes, not always a war crime. For example ongoing non war genocide - ethnic cleansing is in China and I believe still parts of India.

His account must have been hacked, surely? It's the most bizarre thing I've ever seen. It looks like it's been put together by a group of deranged schoolchildren who are playing with AI. I never thought I would think anything too weird and offensive for Trump, but this has left me incredulous.

Why the belly dancers with beards? Trump shown with a belly dancer as though she is a call girl. What can they be thinking? It is offensive beyond belief.

It also makes the U.S. version of the world look too tacky for words.
