If some of these comments are anything to go by I am starting to understand why the JC had concerns about the Irish curriculum

Seriously you are now questioning the Irish school curriculum based on a couple of posters on mumsnet who you actually can't verify the nationality of? Wow

You have also said you were born and reared in Ireland so I assume you've been through the curriculum yourself

Why do you now understand why there are concerns?

JaneJeffer · 20/11/2024 19:01

I'm concerned too but not about those people

Plenty of English posters on here that don't either. Not sure why you are singling out Irish people, well actually I do.

Maybe tag the Irish posters you are talking about so they have an opportunity to respond.

Really, a top class curriculum that is welcomed and admired world wide ? I suggest you spend a little time reading it. It's fully transparently available on www.ncca.ie.

Given the horrors being inflicted on innocents by Israel on Palestine do you not understand why people are asking all people of Jewish faith or culture to appeal to Israel to secure peace?

I can't speak for anyone else, but this Irish person absolutely is concerned about any rise in antisemitism.

I don't see why criticism of Israel's current action in Gaza is reduced to antisemitism though, and I do wonder just how far Israel would have to go before criticism would been seen as reasonable by some. Surely no state or government can be beyond criticism.

I also wonder if I'm alone in noticing an uptick in anti Irish posts since the government denounced what's happening in Gaza.

JaneJeffer · 20/11/2024 19:11

Where is the evidence of this antisemitism in Ireland?

I'm sorry, at what point did anyone here say they don't care about rising antisemitism? It might be fair enough to say that the whole world is crumbling to s**t. However I personally have not seen antisemitism, nor have I heard of any. If I did I would shut it down.

However I am constantly hearing racism and misogyny, on a near daily basis. All kinds of hate seems to be acceptable nowadays.

I will tackle all of it when I see it

However I will also call out bullshit allegations when I see them.

What, do want random Jewish people in Ireland or wherever to just phone up Bibi and tell him to stop?

Please don't go near the Times of Israel comment section. The anti Irish racism is beyond belief. Leprechauns and Guinness blah blah blah. It's shocking.

All because we're asking israel to stop killing people

Agree no community should feel responsible for the Actions of a nation state they don't even live in or have any control over.

Vanessa Feltz was on tv here last week saying how much she loves coming to Ireland. She named her holiday house here Ballykneidal as an Irish/Jewish mashup. Not once did she say she felt unwelcome.

Wow, if Vanessa Phelps feels safe then I guess that must automatically apply to all Jewish people. That's a relief.

Really? Typos are strange to you?

Marblesbackagain · 20/11/2024 19:24

As in general media, podcasts, YouTube videos etc. What exactly is the problem with that?

It's fairly typical to engage with groups who have a connection between it culture or race or identity? The same happens to the Russians in Ireland why would people not ask the same of the Jewish population.

It's tiny and very identifiable to contact to seek discussion and support.

Bit of a weird typo
