To be fair it is stated in the new testament that the Jews wanted Barabbas to be spared and Jesus executed. So there is some element of truth to it even if it was the Romans that did the job. It is not anti Semitic to state that.

According to MN it is!

Given the time and inaccuracies it is fair to question exactly what was the purpose of it?

The purpose ( I imagine) was to highlight concerns of the Jewish community in Ireland

You must know that the crucifixion of Jesus has been used as an irrational and malicious justification for the horrendous treatment and abuse of Jews for centuries.?

JaneJeffer · 20/11/2024 18:30

The subject is forbidden @Limesodaagain so much as I'd love to discuss it with you I'm not going to

I doubt any subject is forbidden by @mnhq, unless it relates to an ongoing court case.

JaneJeffer · 20/11/2024 18:35

Why don't you ask them @whytetulip?

But does the thread belong in CITME? Ireland is neither in the middle east nor involved in a conflict there.

Perhaps the thread should be asking why is JC investigating the Irish education curriculum and getting all accusatory about it? It's hard not to be defensive when it is very clear what is happening here. Are they investigating other countries too? I find it hard to believe that the Irish curriculum would be so antisemitic that it deserves its own article, and a lengthy one too. Knowing how 'woke' Ireland is (and yes I hate that term... but it's one that gets thrown at Ireland a lot)

Are they investigating other countries too
It states in a link I provided at the beginning of the thread that the Irish school curriculum has been the only one they have investigated outside of the middle east.

Yes and it doesn't justify genocide of Jews. However it is true that they contributed to the death of Christ. That is just a matter of fact.

Toomanywars · 20/11/2024 18:44

Anti semitic hate speech alive and frequent on MN courtesy of Drakhan. Why? Because you can? Because people are so black and white that Jews bad, Palestinian good and everything is the fault of Israel. Emboldened to be so hate filled. That's the growing measure of society now.

There's discussion things, and there's spewing antisemitic tropes.

Indeed. Some struggle to work out the difference or are too lazy and therefore hatred spills forth.

Don’t be facetious.
You surely understand why that comment is anti semitic?

Well yes obviously the Jews who live now aren't to blame but it was used as an excuse for example killing Jews under the reign of Richard I. It isn't hatred to state that Jesus died due to his fellow Jews though! Christians are taught that.

Limesodaagain · 20/11/2024 18:49

If some of these comments are anything to go by I am starting to understand why the JC had concerns about the Irish curriculum

Well I hope you aren't one of those who hate the English because of past events otherwise you would be a hypocrite.

No - Christians are not taught that “the Jews are to blame”. We’ve been through all this earlier in the thread .
Our Lady was Jewish , the apostles etc … 🙄
