I would question mumsnet on allowing such ads on their website. They seem wholly inappropriate and perhaps they are unaware of them.

Edited

To be fair I thought the same thing but from looking into it I think the group have technology that over rides websites and puts the ads on. I could be wrong and someone more techy might come along but that was my reading of it . They call it open web or something.

Well mine seems to be flooded with boohoo ads which is probably because of all the online buying my teenage girls have been doing

In all seriousness the ads are completely inappropriate and should be reported

I keep getting these despite complaining months ago and clearing my cache as they told me to.

Ireland, is this true?

"carefully selected audience"

Sounds a bit dystopian to me.

TrishM80 · 16/12/2024 19:14

Israel really is the spoilt brat of international politics. They have EVERYTHING on their side. All the financial, political and military power. The governments of the USA, UK and EU in their pocket. The ability to cancel any public figure who speaks out against their actions in Gaza. And they've pounded a desperate and impoverished people into the dust for the past 14 months (well, longer than that really).

A small, peaceful country on the edge of Europe questions their actions, and they throw their toys out of the pram.

And we're supposed to believe they're the "good guys"?!

To counteract this imbalance, AdFreeway leverages its advertising technology to strategically place Israeli propaganda within prominent websites such as Al Jazeera, CNN, and BBC

It is ironic that the Israeli government shut Al Jazeera in Israel down last May, then in Palestinian Ramallah in the West Bank ( not even its own territory) in September, and withdrew advertising from the Israeli newspaper Haaretz!

As further encouragement, it kills journalists.

Afreebird · 16/12/2024 20:02

How does one try and put a positive PR spin on a genocide? It's a futile attempt to do so.

BelleHathor · 16/12/2024 20:32

The Israeli government had to create tools aka Hasbara to "shape" public opinion after the barbaric acts (such as babies being cut of pregnant mothers) happened during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in the 1980s were openly reported by the MSM. The public was rightly outraged (especially in America where vital support fell for Israel).

The war that canonized America's hasbara playbook

The defensive line of the U.S.-Jewish establishment during the Lebanon invasion solidified the methods deployed when Israeli violence makes headlines today.

Nobody expects you to think they are the good guys. You can think what you like. But your post is irrational. How does Israel have the major nations of the world 'in their pocket' - that mplies some sort of control rather than that those nations might have some sort of rational reason to support an ally (with a fair bit of criticism). What public figures has Israel 'cancelled' for criticising them?

"Criticism". What criticism? Anyone who criticises Israel is smeared as "antisemitic".

That's a blatant lie. If you criticise the existence of the state of Israel & its right to defend itself you are probably anti semitic. Its perfectly possible to criticise the government & the conduct of the war without being antisemitic. People in Israel do it all the time.

But my question was 'What public figures has Israel 'cancelled' for criticising them?'

Well they're having a good go at trying to "cancel" Ireland and discredit us.

How does one cancel a country & what power does Israel have to do that?

Take your head out of the sand and read what they have been saying about the Irish government, the anti Irish ads that are appearing, the constant articles about antisemitic Ireland appearing and so on. If you think this is all coincidence and not a targeted campaign to discredit us you are deluded

How is Ireland being 'cancelled'? Antisemitism in Ireland is well documented and inevitably people are going to talk about it.

Well, if you have to expand and change the definition of genocide, you are admitting the war in Gaza is not a genocide.

Amnesty found the definition of genocide “overly cramped” in last week’s report so changed it, as it did with the definition of apartheid. Applying unique definitions to Israel is key to the delegitimisation campaign against it.

If you have to use semantics and language to deny your commiting genocide then your probably not a very ethical and moral nation.

Ireland is being discredited, cancelled is a modern word for the same thing. Ireland is no more antisemitic than anywhere else but Isreali targeting Ireland would make it look different

Words of Israeli Ambassador and Foreign Minister

ISRAEL’S AMBASSADOR TO Ireland has said her country’s decision to close its embassy in Dublin was made in light of what she described as the Irish government’s uniquely “extreme, hostile rhetoric and initiatives taken against Israel”. Evidence?

“Ireland is an extreme voice in the international arena,” Dana Erlich told RTÉ’s News at One. Evidence?

The Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar announced the news of the embassy closure yesterday afternoon.

“The actions, double standards, and antisemitic rhetoric of the Irish government against Israel are rooted in efforts to delegitimise and demonise the Jewish state,” Sa’ar said in a statement. Evidence?

Echoing Sa’ar’s statement, Erlich said: ”Unfortunately, in the past year, we’ve seen Ireland position itself in an extreme position that no other country has put itself in.” Evidence?

When asked if Ireland’s position was different to that of Spain, which has also intervened in the ICJ case and recognised the State of Palestine. Erlich said there was.

“We see it in the political sphere. We see it in voices in the media. We see it in vocal voices calling to a more balanced approach. We don’t need to support Israel. What we ask you for is not to take double standards and one sided measures against Israel,” Erlich said. Evidence?

Use of words such as extreme, hostile, demonise, deligitimise are all used for a reason.

These accusations with no evidence are purely to discredit Ireland and demonise the Irish government.

Genocide is a legally defined thing. The people changing the definitions (Amnesty and Ireland) are the ones playing games, not Israel.
