I can't believe how unbalanced the media reporting is of the events last night

The maccabi fans were behaving atrociously and inciting conflict the entire day, pulling down flags, chanting 'fuck Palestine' and intimidating Dutch Arabs

But it is, it is colonial and it does operate with apartheid laws. That's a fact.

It's not colonial given that the vast majority of it's citizens are native to the area, and of course it's not going to give equal rights to people who aren't actually citizens, because which country would?

Either way irrelevant, I would suggest that it's long overdue that those in the region accept it's existence as a country rather than endless conflict.

Growing concerns for what?

Obviously fear of Muslims.. Implied.

Oh give over will you, are you choosing to be blind to the bits you don't like?

Accept its existence in its current form whilst it continues with its ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians both in Gaza and the west bank? Whilst it steals more and more Palestinian land every year since its inception?

It does not operate with apartheid laws. Israeli Arabs (around 2 million) have exactly the same rights as everyone else in Israel. Gaza and West Bank are 'governed' by Hamas and the Palestinian Authority respectively. I do not condone what Right wing settler extremists do but this does not, and never has, equated to apartheid.

I honestly can't believe there are people on here pretending this was a fight between football fans that got out of hand. It was, fairly obviously, a pre-planned attack targeting Jews and committed by people who were nothing to do with the football. There's footage of both sets of fans singing together ahead of the match and Ajax use "the Jews" as a nickname so I do not for a second believe those who beat up a British man for helping a Jew were Ajax supporters.

Ripping down a flag was wrong, chanting about killing is wrong, failing to observe a minute's silence is wrong. Not one of those things can be used to justify hoards of men roaming the streets trying to find any Jew they can to harm. And, tbh, they're all fairly run-of-the-mill for football (which is why I don't watch much any more).

It is 2024 and last night hundreds of Jews had to hide and barricade themselves in hotel rooms to avoid being lynched. The King, Prime Minister and police in that country have apologised to Jewish people for the anti-semitism on display and the Mayor has likened it to a pogrom. At this stage, anyone trying whataboutery is disingenuous at best.

Clearly there needs to be renewed efforts at a border resolution, but essentially yes. What else, endless intifadas? It's the Palestinians that suffer most in that, anyone that truly cares about them would be urging them to accept Israel's ongoing existence.

The nation state law in Israel is an open declaration of it being an apartheid state. You might not like to admit it because it makes alot of pro Israelis loving in western countries uncomfortable but it's true.

The West Bank is not governed by the PA. They have 18% of that land under political and security governance, but Israel maintains security there and can enter at any time. Israel has complete control over the entire WB, to a greater extent in Area B, then C. PA does not have full governance of any of it, except cosmetically, perhaps. Gaza is also classified as an Area A, similar to WB, by the way. @LetThereBeLove

Yes I'd like to see evidence of this too....

The Jewish community in the UK is overwhelmingly peaceful, hardworking, law abiding, assimilated and has contributed so much which is why to see so many people in the UK turn their backs on British Jews just disgusts me.

Absoutely. Jewish communities here in the UK have behaved with dignity, despite the provocation from the pro Palestinian lobby. Does seem to be reducing now though. Hopefully they're getting the message that the majority of us in the UK are not interested in the self inflicted actions brought upon them in Gaza.

And why do Palestinians suffer the most from that? Finish that thought.

No, anyone who cares about them would be lobbying for Israel to stop stealing their land and forcing them to live under Israeli military occupation. Give them back their land so they can have their own state and self determination. Not just accept your lot no matter how bad it is because the alternative might be even worse.

What a terrible thing to say. I think you will find there are people in the UK who are pro-israeli and still DO care about the plight of those in Gaza, unlike yourself.

Small acts of humanity warm the heart.
A video ( U.K.) on the Tube showed a Jewish father being ranted at by a fundamental Christian- A brave Muslim woman stepped in, calmly, telling the Fundamentalist he was way out of order. 💕

Don't let the stats of the majority of UK supporting a ceasefire as well as thinking that Israel's actions in Gaza have gone too far stop you from posting absolute rubbish...

Did you do a poll of the UK citizens? Or is that assumption based on pure delusion of living in your own bubble?
I think it's quite an insulting thing to insuniate about people who you consider your 'majority'

BakedAlaska12 · 08/11/2024 16:21

Absolutely disgusting behaviour against Israeli people. When will people treat Israelis and Jewish people the same as others. People go on and on about not blaming Muslims/ Christians or whichever race or religion when terrorise attacks happen. People come out in force in here condemning them, saying we stand with you. When it’s down to Jews or Israel the age old hatred is ignighted even more.

Those poor Israelis and those children who are being attacked simply for being a race and religion others just can’t tolerate. It is all too sad.

Israel having to send planes to get their citizens safely out of a country in Europe and telling them not to go by Uber or taxi. WE ARE IN 2024, this is madness.

'give them back their land' exactly what do you mean by this?

There is no dignity in your post that's for sure. 70% of the victims in Gaza are women and children, the youngest victim was 1 day old and you sit there and call it 'self inflicted'. Killed at 1 day old how can it possibly be 'self inflicted'?

It reminds me of this horrific quote from the Israeli politician Meirav Ben-Ari 'And the children in Gaza – the children in Gaza have brought this upon themselves!'

BakedAlaska12 · 08/11/2024 16:25

My heart is breaking for all the hatred towards these people. It’s just too sad. I send strength to the people of Israel who must feel completely let down by the rest of the world as well as Jews in the UK and Europe. I pray that one day people will let Israel and Jews just be in peace.

The nation state law means that the land is for predominantly Jewish people. That is not apartheid! Nobody is segregated as they were in apartheid S Africa. Jewish and Arab doctors and teachers, musicians and artists work alongside each other in Israel. So enough with your apartheid accusations.
