Echo chamber?

Why do you respond with this? What is is that @1dayatatime has said to prompt that reaction

Thank you so much for this, I had no clue what had been going on.

OK you've made your feelings about Ireland clear. Yikes.

Out of interest, do you support Israel's actions in Gaza?

Gaza is more complicated and I sadly believe that both in terms of civilian deaths and strategy (hostages are still there...), Israel is wrong on many levels with Gaza and it's an absolute disaster. Its far more complicated than the case with Hezbollah.

See, I'm not blindly cheering on Israel...

Ah back to your patronising. No idea what your explanation on what a conversation has to do with my post though

Because you seemed to think that my adding what I thought was interesting information on the role of Israel & Jews in ending apartheid, alongside the contribution of the Irish, was somehow me telling you that Israel wasn't involved, or something along those lines. Which was clearly not the case.

That's refreshing on these threads. At least we can agree on one thing, because your issues with Ireland are frankly alarming.

Harking back to the thread title...I recall many CITME comments wondering why 'those supposedly brilliant Israelis' couldn't specifically target terrorists ( the ones with the I❤ hamas badges obviously) and here we have an operation that does just that to Hezbollah operatives taking out command and communication structure. There seemed to be a lot of young men in the casualties and in the funeral picture I saw many young children cosplaying jihadis, heartbreaking.

Occupation was the wrong word by the poster but it is still a current issue which has not been fully resolved, tensions continue and will no doubt heighten if a border poll is called, it is definitely not "100 years ago" as was originally suggested when Irelands occupation by Britain was raised.

What are you suggesting about Hamas?

That they could have done this in that instance?

All the comments saying that this has turned into an echo chamber because we're all agreeing with each other. However It is usually directed at those of us who are not so supportive of Israeli government actions. However the actual echoing seems to come from everyone else. I'm just pointing them out as they come in so you can see where the echoing is coming from.

I use the 'thanks' button frequently. It's quite useful, though I understand the temptation of quoting a post so that the message is duplicated!

Northern Ireland, though currently and thankfully peaceful, is an ongoing issue, which Irish people are happy to leave in the hands of democracy and diplomacy. There will inevitably be more to come (border poll)... though that's further down the road. It's far from done and dusted.

It's fine for posters to agree with a post, not sure you can limit that

But I'm wondering what it was about @1dayatatime post you found problematic? Just to get understanding

I was referring to the creation of the Irish Free State, as you know. I couldn't be bothered to set out the GFA & revised constititional arrangements but@SababaToo stepped in. Thank you. Of course tensions persist. People still get very about the revised Local authority boundaries in England & the bloody Beeching reforms. Its not an active 'occupation' though, as you now acknowledge. I think perspective is sometimes the biggest stumbling block to sane conversations on these threads.

It seems to me that nothing Israel does to defend itself will be acceptable, and I see another generation of children being groomed to hate.

The tunnel network in Gaza spreads through civilian infrastructure like mycelium from a fungus. If the minds that came up with the Hezbollah strategy could have tackled hamas like that I'm sure they would have.

I ask because there's a fair bit of coverage on BBC world service and one point made was that Hezbollah need comms devices as they are spread around the country and Hamas can communicate without this.

So if people are wondering why this strategy had not been used that's likely the reason

It was in response to @whataclownshow going on about how it was a great thread til it turned into an echo chamber.

Not sure where I mentioned @1dayatatime though I'm sure you can go back through my posts and find what you want. I know 'echo chamber' had been mentioned previously, perhaps multiple times. Maybe it was them. However the post of mine that you quoted was not in response to them,so I have little clue what you're trying to get me to say here.

The indeed post was to @1dayatatime who I thought posted a good post, if you collapse the quote thing it'll be there

But maybe it was more just to the 'indeed' rather than the content of what was being agreed to.

It was the 'indeed' quote that I replied to. If I wanted to reply to the other post, I would have quoted that.

So you don't have a problem with the content of the other post. Just the word 'indeed'

Seems strange but ok

If that is what you want to take away from that, I can't stop you 😂

You're going on about previous posts that we've moved on from. I don't reply to every comment posted. I don't even know which comment you are talking about. Please don't requote it because I was already given an opportunity to reply, but didn't for whatever reason... most notably because I am not obliged to reply to everything. Also it is not up to you to requote others and demand people respond. Are you like this in real life? 😂
