Just this is really ...how did they do it? Was this the secret service on steroids?

Interesting how they managed to intercept and tamper with the pagers. I guess a command to all of them simultaneously triggered the explosions. Pagers are pretty primitive, so could be an easy target.

Imagine being so dumb that you support terrorist groups. Being a Zionist is far from a crime.

Imagine being so dumb that you think that killing civilians is justified because terrorists were targeted . Imagine if this had happened in the uk and innocent civilians had died.

midgetastic · 17/09/2024 20:45

Israel wasn't attacked on the 7th oct as the start of this though - this has been running for generations, with the death toll on the Palestinian side approx ten times higher than on the Israeli side

You can't draw a line under all your past violence and pretend that the other side started it on a specific date

I think it's horrible like a terror attack

Agreed. This is nothing to be in awe of or impressed by, this is something for us all to be very deeply worried by.

Bontonbonbon · 17/09/2024 20:47

@FixTheBone The girl is tremendously sad. Her father was obviously the target and things went awry. It is a sick twisted world. I would rather no one fought at all but lots of people don’t seem keen on that.

Ha ha ha ha. Absolutely moronic thought process.

CrunchyCarrot · 17/09/2024 20:51

Was chatting to DP who works in the IT industry and he said there are ways to do this, such as a software hack that tells the pager that it is running low on power and needs to boost it, only it isn't low and boosting causes an explosion. I think there's more than one way to do it.

It is worrying though to think that phones or any devices could be targeted in that way.

Yep. Let’s bring this back into perspective here.

editing as just saw it on bbc that her dad was a member as you indicated

It’s an attack on terrorists. Only someone that had not the faintest clue about who Hezbollah are would have any sympathy.

That doesn’t stop it being terrorism. Which I’d guess is why countries like the US and U.K. are going to distance themselves pretty sharpish. Hezbollah being evil doesn’t automatically make everything done to them right or good or justified. Or legal for that matter.

No empathy for a 10 year old child? Wow.

Israel does not need to imagine, 10 of their children were killed on a soccer pitch by the hezbolla terrorists.

Very clever. We’ll probably never know how they managed it.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 17/09/2024 20:58

Sorry just seen a child died, which is horrific and a tragedy.

I can't feel much grief over the loss of adult terrorists.

I was wondering about the post below and deletion has answered my question on what can be said on SM in the UK

Saving your empathy for one group of people and not having any empathy for an innocent 10 year old girl is the point at which you have lost your humanity.
I have empathy for the victims of the 7th October attack, for the Israeli hostages and for the thousands of Palestinians that have been killed. They are all humans, people, and our brothers and sisters.

Well said.

TokyoSushi · 17/09/2024 21:05

It's obviously apalling, but what a thing to think of, and to be able to pull off, scary,

EsmaCannonball · 17/09/2024 21:07

Hezbollah have not just repeatedly attacked Israel, they have caused untold misery and death within Lebanon and have gained political influence there mainly through the constant threat of violence. Lebanon was meant to be a haven for Christians in the Middle East but Hezbollah hated that and only saw the country as a base for attacking Israel.

Agree. Not feeling anything for the pain and suffering of innocent people regardless of where and who they are just brings more pain and suffering.

This.

And this conflict did not start on October 7th. Palestinian civilians have been murdered, beaten, and indeed kidnapped for decades. It's business as usual, which is why our media pays no attention to it.
