We don't know who the over two thousand injured are yet it has not been confirmed so let's wait until it is but I seriously doubt they were all Hezbollah

But whose word will you accept? Who will have to report it before you'll believe it?

EasterIssland · 17/09/2024 22:02

Bontonbonbon · 17/09/2024 21:59

@EasterIssland true but the same is also true of Hezbollah, if not more so. You’re going to find it hard to raise sympathy for the radical terror group who have spent decades committing disgusting crimes against everyone and any one they can get their hands on.

Here’s a little peek what they do: Hezbollah has also been involved in a relatively limited number of terrorist attacks against the United States, most notoriously the 1983 Marine suicide bombings in Beirut. Widely believed to have been carried out by Hezbollah or members linked to the group, this devastating act killed 220 Marines, 18 Navy soldiers, and 3 Army soldiers. Prior to the September 11 attacks in New York and Washington, it represented the single deadliest day for United States since the 1968 Tet Offensive during the Vietnam War32.
Hezbollah has also been implicated in the suicide truck bombing of the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which killed 29 people and injured 242 on March 17th, 199233.
Two investigative reports in Der Spiegel34, and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation35 point to Hezbollah’s role in the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in 2005. It is widely believed that the United National Special Tribunal for Lebanon, which is investigating the affair, has issued confidential arrest warrants for four Hezbollah agents involved in the assassination36.

I’m not trying to obtain any sympathy for Hezbollah
I’m trying to get some sympathy for those innocent civilians that might have got caught in today’s attack.

believe that the majority are civilians you would have to think that the Israelis set off random pagers bombs. Clearly Israelis are anything but stupid so I doubt that.

they might have thought the pagers for hezbollah were those with ID from 1-5000 but in the supply chain some of them didn’t end up in hezbollahs hands. So ended up injuring innocent civilians.

also, it’s not the first time that Israel kills so some and has to apologise for it

Civilians don't use pagers.

EasterIssland · 17/09/2024 22:03

Mebebecat · 17/09/2024 22:00

It was only the Hezbollah pagers that exploded

Do you have a link from an official source that verifies this? Thanks

Mebebecat · 17/09/2024 22:03

RiderOfTheBlue · 17/09/2024 21:32

We don't even know whether her father was involved in any way do we? Are you just assuming that? Your comments are disgusting.

We do know if we believe middle eastern news sources or the BBC

Israel has literally been killing civilians for the past year. I don't think their morality has shifted now.

I actually don’t think they are actively targeting civilians, I’m not saying they are overly concerned when civilians get hurt but not actively targeting. I think Hamas insist on hiding behind their own people.

Hamas on the other hand, definitely actively targeted civilians.

starpatch · 17/09/2024 18:39

I think it's horrible like a terror attack

A terror attack attacking the terrorist organisation Hezbollah?Grin

JaneDoeHere · 17/09/2024 22:04

There really won’t be many innocent civilians caught up in todays attack.

These weren’t just random pagers.

There weren’t masses of huge explosions.

EasterIssland · 17/09/2024 22:05

amigafan2003 · 17/09/2024 22:03

Civilians don't use pagers.

I believe doctors do , don’t do they?

Bontonbonbon · 17/09/2024 22:06

@EasterIssland Hezbollah have been nest Jg in southern Lebanon for decades. The idea that there are 4,000 people in the group is very realistic. If you knew the first thing about the current situation in Lebanon you would also know that they’ve essentially been holding the Lebanese Parliament at a standstill to prevent any laws being passed that would outlaw their activities. Activities such as- kidnap, murder, assassination, attacks on embassies, attacks on Israeli residential areas (with civilian casualties).

They are not resistance fighters. They aren’t even Lebanese. Most of them are foreign fighters drafted in for a go at holy war (just like most members of Hamas).

Independently verified. No reports are yet categorically saying who has been killed and injured. I'm sure it will be clearer soon. I'm not, not believing I'm just not jumping to assumptions yet

Well Israel have killed more civilians than Hamas so that makes no sense.

They have the worst ratios for civilian casualty in pretty much every other war. They have made 100% of the population of Gaza homeless and have destroyed over 50% of the infrastructure. They are of course targeting civilians.

Here you go - this feels like the sort of news source you'll accept.

Thanks. But this doesn’t say that only hezbollahs pagers exploded as the other poster told me. There is 2.5-4k injured. is there a link from any news that says yes they all were hezbollah members ?

@HelenHen

Lol.

Google Chairman Eric Schmidt complimented the country during a visit there, saying that “Israel has the most important high-tech center in the world after the US.”[12] Israel was ranked 14th in the Global Innovation Index in 2023,[13] down from tenth in 2019.[14] The Tel Aviv region was ranked the 4th global tech ecosystem in the world.[15]

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_and_technology_in_Israel

Good luck banning tech in Israel, where a lot of it is pioneered.

Maybe you could put them on the naughty step at the same time...

Yes it's widely mentioned here how important Israeli tech is to the tech world... however don't be so arrogant as to believe that the tech world wouldn't cope without Israeli input.

Having shown that they're willing to tamper with tech in order to perform a terrorist attack, the rest of the world needs to be on high alert.

CitrineRaindropPhoenix · 17/09/2024 22:07

@amigafan2003 of course civilians use pagers. Maybe not those particular pagers, but pagers themselves are widely used - by most hospital doctors for starters.

justasking111 · 17/09/2024 22:08

Howdull · 17/09/2024 21:51

Does anyone else find it funny that most men will have kept these pagers in their trouser pocket?

Umm yes

I've no idea what news source you might deem official. If you are dismissing the BBC, the guardian and Hezbollah themselves.

I do know what you’ve said. What I don’t know is if those 4k injured today were all hezbollah members or innocent civilians have been affected as well.

also, I don’t think this attack will make north of Israel safe, in fact I do think it’ll be more dangerous

the pagers are from Taiwan

You have misunderstood what I said, I wasn’t approving of their actions. I am saying that their target is Hamas, the civilians are in the way. They are not trying to kill the civilians. They are trying to kill Hamas. Hamas likes to squat behind civilians.

Hamas went out if it’s way to murder, rape and kidnap civilians specifically.
