There’s been no confirmation from any source of how many were civilians and how many Hamas operatives.

There has been no confirmation by the IDF that their 'intended targets' were killed either.

So basically nobody has any idea and everybody here is giving their preferred version of events.

Absolutely not, I speak to Palestinians daily and also follow journalists in the region, the person that you mentioned has not been named by any reputable source. Plenty of posts on X/Twitter in the last hour by accounts with low follows and likes so appears co-ordinated. I also understand that there are specific units of the IDF tasked with appearing to be Palestinian in order to carry out missions and spread propaganda.

And all your sources of information and journalism are definitive, valid and propaganda-free. Sure.

Yet you posted the number of dead without checking first?

No.
Unless you think the BBC and sky news link I posted are my version of events compared to your unknown Instagram link which is your version.

AhNowTed · 10/09/2024 15:28

Jesus some folks are actually defending a 30 foot deep crater in a so-called humanitarian zone of flimsy tents, with ...but Hamas.

No, not my preferred version of events, I posted a link to an Irish news headline this morning. You then quoted me with an Instagram link telling me the number of dead reported had changed. I went looking from reputable sources to find out more about the update and couldn't find any so went back to ask you for a link. I am only in favour of facts not any one person's version of events. If you have a link from a reputable source please share it.

Got that from the Gazan Health Ministry, do you doubt their veracity?

Dulra · 10/09/2024 15:35

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cwyx9znxl4eo

This link has revised the figure down to 19 killed. I am relieved the number is less than originally reported but I wish independent news reporters and observers would be let in so we can all have better faith in what is being reported.

Palestinians go through their possessions after an overnight air strike in southern Gaza

Israeli strike in Gaza humanitarian zone kills 19 - health ministry

The Israeli military says it struck “senior Hamas terrorists” operating there - a claim hamas denied.

People just want a link to the updated information.

Well how about that.

Why so goady? Not sure why you couldn't have done that to begin with rather than posting an Instagram link which I for one never click on. I was nothing but courteous to you. Irish news are still reporting 40 which is why I didn't initially see the revised figure of 19 from the bbc. Still 19 souls lost today and an horrific scary report of what civilians experienced during the bombing, nothing to be gleeful about here.

Zzippit · 10/09/2024 15:34

I was only questioning your facts checking. I don't post anything unless I have checked and double checked, least I end up posting untruths.
Do I doubt their veracity? No, the Israeli secret service deem them accurate as well as the UN and the Lancet. That's good enough for me.
No evidence of inflated mortality reporting from the Gaza Ministry of Health - The Lancet

Zzippit · 10/09/2024 15:51

If you never click on Instagram links, you won’t know that this one was a secretly filmed (mostly voice) recording of Hamas operatives throwing a Gazan woman and her injured relative out of their tent so they could take it for themselves and have a meeting. In a designated humanitarian area.

BelleHathor · 10/09/2024 15:54

The BBC article is strange (I imagine they are quoting what the IDF told them) but again they mention a person who was killed in December (bolded):
They included Samer Abu Daqqa, head of Hamas’s aerial unit, and Osama Tabesh, head of the observation and targets department in Hamas's military intelligence headquarters, it added.

No, where was the suggestion that I did? Don’t be so silly.

Euh? No. Still waiting for your opinion on the bombing though.

So you find it outrageous to bomb a humanitarian camp?

Euh? No. Still waiting for your opinion on the bombing though.

Why ? Why do you need my opinion on this particular bombing that I have no particular knowledge of?

So you find it outrageous to bomb a humanitarian camp?

Clearly. Why do you have to ask? Don’t you?

I asked because your previous posts are not clear on the subject. That's all.

Auvergne63 · 10/09/2024 16:08

So you find it outrageous to bomb a humanitarian camp?

Do you find it outrageous that Hamas terrorists congregate in designated civilian zones knowing that this makes the area a target? Do you find it outrageous that they deliberately endanger the people there because they want to maximise civilian deaths and injuries? Clearly that doesn’t bother you.
