New Hamas video of hostages

The new Hamas video released today of the female hostages selected as the ones they planned to get pregnant was so sickening and I wish I hadn’t seen it.

however, I am also wondering WHY it has not been more widely picked up and broadcast? I don’t understand the silence from the bleeding left; why don’t they see stuff like this and not just feel desperate and sick about those poor poor girls and their families who must be beyond devastated.

Watching the men in those videos helps to counter balance the idea of Israel as the aggressor. I wish more would see it and reflect or even just place those women of equal value to those in Gaza.

How is the world so perverse right now that this warrants a shrug from so many? Or worse, is viewed as justified !?

If that is the case you don't drop the bomb.... you send in the army and I mean mandatory enlistment.... civilians are not collateral damage. For the record I am extremely angry at Hamas.

The saying "two wrongs do not make a right" spring to mind though, when people try to deflect from the wrong doing on Israels part.

You send the army into a web of tunnels like the London Underground, to fight an enemy that looks no different from ordinary civilians? You would do that to your own people, to protect the people of another country that is actively seeking the annihilation of yours?

Scirocco · 24/05/2024 17:54

The majority of people who want peace and an end to this conflict, @MrsAllsorts , want a future that involves a two state solution, justice for all, the safe return of hostages and a future where Israel and Palestine can both be safe. That future is unlikely to be built on repeated disregard for international law.

All you've done here is falsely accuse me of horrible things and cast aspersions. You have no grounds for your allegations. None at all.

I think it’s all very well for those of us sitting safely at home making demands on Israel, but if we had a neighbour determined to eradicate the entire population of British people, we might see things a bit differently.

This is how I see it too (although I do understand, Scirocco, that you are not exactly in the "sitting safely at home" category Flowers). It's a complete impasse.

Except the whole population of Gaza is not Hamas.... just like the IRA were not the entire population of Ireland. You didn’t see anyone laying seige to Ireland did you. There is no justification for the attack of the entire population of Gaza none.

Yes I would if it avoided killing children.... you can hardly mistake a child for a hamas terrorist and yet 15000 are dead and more are starving.

I think a man with a gun in his hand capable of killing looks abit different to a man with no gun in his hand. So yes they can be separated from civilians.

Oh dear!

Actually I think every sane person wants peace, but Hamas are not sane. And I also think it’s important to divert attention where it needs to go, which is that Israel’s neighbour is determined to annihilate the Jews. I think I have made that clear. Thank you.

I'm would find other ways to stop that neighbour i wouldn't chose, the destruction of the entire population I can tell you that.
Israel are a rich, heavily defended nation with some exceedingly powerful allies who would not hesitate to get involved if there was even the slightest chance of its destruction. I'm 100% sure of that. So no I would not feel any differently if it was my country in this position.

There was nothing said about rape or pregnancy. Thats Israeli propaganda.

Why are some people so eager to do Hamas' PR work for them?

They don't have the capability to eradicte Israel, so its not even possible. Are you basicly saying its fine to kill the whole population because its leaders want to irradiate Jews? Even though Israel is heavily defended and has a world power alliance who will all step in to defend it?

What does this mean? Is the poster correct or not? Does Google translate translate as soldier?

ChickyBricky · 24/05/2024 18:24

This word to mean "female prisoner" also cropped up during discussions of the kidnappings from Nova Festival. As I understood it, there are connotations of "slave" and sexual availability. Anyone who speaks Arabic, please correct me if I've got the wrong end of the stick here.

Surely the word slave isn't the same as soldier? I mean I'm clueless on this stuff and I'm fully aware that hamas are capable and have been raping woman, so they likely have done that to these poor woman regardless of what it says or it doesn't but I do think the truth is important. Propaganda fuels wars, not ends them.

Ategnatos · 24/05/2024 18:30

Oh wow, my post was deleted but the rape denial is totally fine.

"Sabaya" translates as "female captive".

What about the child at the very end of this video, running around with some kind of rifle in his hands while the adults are kidnapping a 12 year old boy? Can you maybe see how it's not as simple as you're trying to pretend it is?

Errrmmm the PP was not saying that the word means "soldier".

They were saying that the word means "female prisoner" (without any connotations beyond that), so that's all right. Move along, nothing to see here.

Their separate remark, that the girls were soldiers, was presumably to say that this makes them a valid target for aggression.

And, best of the fun, dismisses it all as Israeli propaganda anyway. 🤷🏻‍♀️

No comment yet on the blood, but I'm sure there's a perfectly plausible explanation that proves our concern for these young women is entirely unfounded.

Scirocco · 24/05/2024 18:33

I'm guessing there's going to be no apology for the false accusations levelled at me.

Surely it shouldn't be hard for someone to make an accurate translation.

This isnt about propaganda, its about what words were said.

If there WAS mention of rape and pregnancy that is abhorrent.

If there WAS NO mention of rape and pregnancy, and it merely said they were female, then lying about the translation to manipulate video for propaganda is also abhorrent.

Why can't an Arabic speaker confirm what is said?

Are people so welded to one side that the truth doesn't matter any more?

I don't speak Arabic and have no clue what is said, and after the calendar debacle I'm not going to presume either way. Either way, those poor women need to be released obviously.

Oh my, thank goodness! So they only have the ability to commit such atrocities as they did on October 7th, not to mention sending rockets on an ongoing basis, and actions such as sending civilian bombers into Israeli hospitals under the guise of receiving medical treatment. Nothing to worry about then!

The whole point of drawing attention to the Hamas statement that they wish to eradicate the Jews, is that Hamas do not want peace. Do you not think their threats, their actions to date, their absolute promise that they will commit the October atrocities again, should be taken seriously? They want the Israelis gone, and they are quite happy to use their own civilians, including children and women, as martyrs, cannon fodder, human shields. Then they have the nerve to turn around and demand that Israel stop being nasty to innocent people, when they themselves have no care whatsoever. They do not even give a damn about basic human rights, let alone actual lives.

Give it a break! I suggest when Hamas begin having a care for their own people, they might be seen as possessing a little humanity and desiring of peace, instead of which they are brutal savages. Total utter brutal, fascist savages who kill their own. Fact. Maybe you should write to the Hamas leader and tell him to stop regarding civilians as “martyrs”.

Aren't there slightly different meanings depending on dialect?

I think the meaning those 'men' attach to it is pretty clear from the video.
