I've just seen on social media graphic videos of 5 dead aid workers from Australia, Austrian and British. The WCK are the people responsible for the ships coming into Gaza at the Jetty to distribute food. This was the second ship that departed from Cyprus a few days ago. Once arriving at the jetty they had to distribute the food. They were targeted in an armoured vehicle in Deir el Balah by the IDF. Its now being pick up by the press.Very sad.

I have no affiliation or loyalties to either side but I do know a bit about Israeli tech, and I don't believe a word of their claim that it was an accident.

My belief is this was completely intentional, pre-meditated and designed to discourage aid agencies from bring supplies into Gaza.

The Israelis did it on purpose IMHO. They are beneath contempt. We should expel their ambassador. They are now nothing more than any of the other rogue states and need to be treated as such.

The fact 3 Britons doing aid work have been killed by a foreign army should be on the front page of every newspaper here. It’s shocking there isn’t more of an outcry yet over this.

It’s because people are scared of being accused of being “antisemitic”.

Edited

I was just reading a comment as per hareetz they thought a terrorist was with them so they targeted the vans 3 times to kill the terrorist (never mind the innocent aid workers) but the terrorist stayed behind in the warehouse
so yeah they targeted because they wanted to kill the terrorist. Things like this happen in wars blablabla.

the reality is they’re killing anyone helping palestines. They did in the north corridor by killing local police officers that were helping providing aid at the north, they’ve killed urnwa and accused them of being terrorists and now it’s wkc. And any other organisation doesn’t want to take the risk. Wkc has been in many wars and natural disasters providing food and I believe never has this happened before

Tripper79 · 02/04/2024 19:31

This is despicable. I cannot see how this can be accidental when the 3 separate vehicles were all hit in what looks like extremely precise attacks. The seven workers who were killed were the best of us; compassionate and selfless people doing their best to help the people of Gaza. And they were murdered for it.

David Mencer (Israeli Government rep) on C4 news at the moment not answering questions about this.
Being absolutely shredded by Krishnan Guru-Murthy.
Israel really is losing the propaganda war now.

IDK about that - it's on the front page of the Daily Mail website atm - think it probably just takes time and makes a 'better story' when there's a name and photos

The Channel 4 news item was good, putting together the Israeli Govt targeting of aid organisations and killing nearly 200 aid workers.
David Mencer refusing to apologize for murdering the 7 aid workers and doing the usual Israeli/IDF denial tactics.

KGM then saying are Medicin San Frontier one of the good guys? No response.
Do they think we're all idiots?? Do they actually think we believe them?

I guess they know a lot of us are looking at them thinking war criminals

I'm finding it hard to get this out of my head this evening. The fact that they blew up the third car a mile later. There seems no conceivable way this was an 'accident'. Three Brits then murdered abroad. Cameron had better do something meaningful.

I'm still perplexed too

With the official info given it could only be an 'accident' if the message became totally garbled ie 'leave that convoy alone' became 'that's the convoy we're after' which seems unlikely

Two of the three British workers killed today by the Israeli strike have been named, John Chapman and James Henderson.

EasterIssland · 02/04/2024 22:27

They targeted them 3 times. Keep selling them weapons so they can kill more aid people and innocent Palestinians

Our governments have to stop pretending we believe the shit Israel is feeding us. I really hope this is a turning point.

I'm pretty sure at this stage what that means is Israel haven't shown us any evidence at all and we don't particularly care anyway. It was the same with UNRWA, no evidence needed just listen to any old guff Israel spouts. Israel know they can do what they like, so they do.

Look at how it phrased 'no evidence to show it was deliberate'. It isn't we have evidence to prove it was accidental which of course is what should be happening.

3 White British men and the government still doesn't care, safe to say Israel will continue to be given a free pass to kill whoever they want and do whatever they want

Reminds me of the USS liberty attack, when Israel blew up a US ship and killed dozens of US officers.

Funny how Israel keeps having all these little accidents

British aid workers who died after airstrike in Gaza named

The three Britons are among seven aid workers who died after a convoy they were travelling in was hit as it was leaving a warehouse in Deir al Balah overnight.

According to reports, all three British citizens killed by Israel were former British military personnel who were working for the British intelligence firm Solace Global at the same time as World Central Kitchen in Gaza.

How far can Israel push the UK?
All the way.

Was he? They must have had a rethink by the time Avi Hyman appeared on the news at ten then, because he certainly wasn’t saying it was a mistake. He was in fact refusing to say whether it was an accident, or to even issue an apology to the families ‘until we have completed our investigation’. He also kept referring to how Hamas have used civilians, hospitals etc to shield themselves. So basically that’s going to be their next lie… they’re just forming it and yes they do think everyone is stupid - and when it comes to our government and the Biden administration, they’re not wrong I guess.

Current explanation from IDF tonight

Herzi Halevi, the chief of staff of Israel’s armed forces, said several air strikes on an aid convoy operated by World Central Kitchen, which killed seven aid workers, were a “grave mistake”.

He said that a preliminary review of the incident showed that the strikes were not carried out with the intention of killing aid workers but resulted from a “misidentification” of the vehicles in the aid convoy in complex conditions, at night.

This sounds a bit more plausible

Scirocco · 03/04/2024 01:16

Bit of an oopsie. Easy mistake to make, what with the clearly marked vehicles and pre-agreed route. Oh, sorry, three easy mistakes to make. Could happen to anyone.

Yeah saw this all over twitter - not sure it's as weird as is being suggested there

Solace Global seems to be a private risk management/security contractor - so that would fit with them being ex-forces and also with them being employed by WCK in a security role

IDF is also allegedly using private contractors to secure aid convoys [previously performed by local police who were killed for being Hamas police]

It's all very complicated

Must say when I saw their photos was thinking more in terms of cooking/chef type duties - expected them to be younger for some reason

NerdWhoEatsMedlar · 03/04/2024 01:24

Oopsie sort of explains it.

Efacsen · 03/04/2024 01:31

I know it doesn't explain everything@Scirocco but maybe approaching nearer the truth than what we heard earlier

These are guys who unintentionally and tragically shoot their own soldiers and hostages in broad daylight
