Killing of 5 Foreign Aid Workers from the World Central Kitchen

I've just seen on social media graphic videos of 5 dead aid workers from Australia, Austrian and British. The WCK are the people responsible for the ships coming into Gaza at the Jetty to distribute food. This was the second ship that departed from Cyprus a few days ago. Once arriving at the jetty they had to distribute the food. They were targeted in an armoured vehicle in Deir el Balah by the IDF. Its now being pick up by the press.Very sad.

Mark Smith writes: There is no justification for the UK’s continued arms sales to Israel yet somehow it continues. I have raised this at every level in the organisation including through an official whistle blowing investigation and received nothing more than “thank
you we have noted your concerns”.

British media are keeping a lid on this story it seems. Please share.

The dog attacked an elderly Palestinian woman while she was sleeping, severely injuring her"

Hope they get one, this is all getting brushed under the carpet but families deserve answers

They always brush these things under the carpet. The UK just cant bear to criticise Israel, it's all about "Israel's right to defend themselves" sickens me.

The UK is likely more involved in the situation than they would care to admit. The RAF has been flying reconnaissance flights over Gaza and passing thar intelligence to the IDF. It would not be a good look if thar intelligence was then used to murder British citizens. Reminds of when Obama killed an American citizen during drone strikes. They were collateral damage won't play well with the public.

gloriagloria · 04/09/2024 19:27

It's so sad - after their deaths there was a flurry of activity from the US and it really did seem that the IDF would be held more to account. And then, just nothing.

Another aid worker killed. This one in west bank

Turkish-American activist killed by Israeli forces in occupied West Bank

Israeli forces have shot dead an American activist of Turkish origin with a live bullet to her head, according to local media.
The victim identified as Aysenur Ezgi Eygi was 26 years old and she arrived on Tuesday, sources told Al Jazeera.
The incident occurred in the town of Beita, near Nablus in the West Bank, during the town’s weekly anti-settlement march.
According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, the activist was volunteering with International Solidarity Movement (ISM) as part of a campaign to protect Palestinian farmers.
Eygi is the third ISM volunteer killed by the Israeli forces in Palestine. Rachel Corrie was killed in Gaza’s Rafah in 2003 and Tom Hurndall was also killed in Gaza in 2004.

Wondering if there is some sort of term
for the killing of people that support the human rights of Palestinians, something akin to when they mow the grass in Gaza Part of me wonders if it is done on purpose, to spread terror among aid workers, like a sick form of crowd control.

A new vehicle has been hit. They’ve stopped the aid

We are heartbroken to share that a vehicle carrying World Central Kitchen colleagues was hit by an Israeli airstrike in Gaza.

At this time, we are working with incomplete information and are urgently seeking more details.

World Central Kitchen had no knowledge that any individual in the vehicle had alleged ties to the October 7th Hamas attack.

World Central Kitchen is pausing operations in Gaza at this time.

Thanks. Let's wait for the evidence that doesn't come from people charged with crimes against humanity and corruption

Of course, one of them was Hamas. This is the Israeli government's standard excuse for deliberately targeting aid workers/civilians/journalists.
The rest are just collateral damage, according to the most moral army in the world.

But they consistently show that they ARE in Hamas. Do you think that terrorists should be allowed to keep doing their thing as long as it’s only their hobby? How respectable does their day job have to be to excuse some murderous extra curriculars?! I hope that the death of this Hamas operative will mean that the role he filled can now be done by someone committed to peace, because there can’t be much meaningful change when positions of power are filled by terrorists.

From the latest incident: "The Israeli military did not offer any evidence and Reuters could not independently verify the man’s identity or whether he took part in the attack on Israel last year...". Oh, and four other people were killed in that attack. So, no evidence presented of the claim, five dead people and their grieving families left with the aftermath.

Does that not rather strongly imply that the evidence they have came from a source they’re still using or are protecting? It’s seems far more likely than secret orders to murder specific innocent civilians in a way the world would notice.

Actually no, I don't think we should assume guilt with no evidence presented. That's not how justice works. Especially when a claim is coming from an organisation with a track record of inaccuracy in such matters.

Scirocco · 04/12/2024 18:49

Such orders don't need to be secret. The world may notice, but people in power don't care enough for that to matter.

Such orders don't need to be secret. The world may notice, but people in power don't care enough for that to matter.

And yet there’s no evidence of orders for hits on innocent civilians. Either there are secret orders and the IDF has watertight communication, there are public or secret orders and the normal amount of leakiness of a massive organisation but reporters aren’t doing their jobs or there aren’t any orders. One of those options seems much, much more plausible than then others…
