I've just seen on social media graphic videos of 5 dead aid workers from Australia, Austrian and British. The WCK are the people responsible for the ships coming into Gaza at the Jetty to distribute food. This was the second ship that departed from Cyprus a few days ago. Once arriving at the jetty they had to distribute the food. They were targeted in an armoured vehicle in Deir el Balah by the IDF. Its now being pick up by the press.Very sad.

Netanyahu admits IDF culpability

Netanyahu on aid worker deaths: 'This happens in wartime'

Israel’s prime minister has spoken about the deaths of seven humanitarian aid workers killed in Gaza while trying to deliver aid to the starving population there, saying “this happens in wartime.”
In a video statement Benjamin Netanyahu said:
This happens in wartime. We are thoroughly looking into it, are in contact with the governments ,and will do everything to ensure it does not happen again.

Netanyahu described it as “a tragic case of our forces unintentionally hitting innocent people in the Gaza Strip.”

Guardian

His forces have very much being intentionally killing innocent people in the Gaza strip, over 30,000 of them I believe, so he can stfu 😡

Death toll has now risen to 7 and includes an American-Canadian worker

World Food Kitchen is 'pausing' it's work in Gaza

Mission accomplished then, IDF. Food aid has been stopped again.

Parkingt111 · 02/04/2024 13:26

BBC verify have said there were three vehicles in the aid convoy.
Were all three vehicles hit?

And 240 tonnes of un-loaded aid being returned to Cyprus

It must be beyond heart-breaking for any hungry person in Gaza watching this unfold

I don’t think Gaza and Palestinians are doomed. It’s a horrific time, it’s a new low, but I really think it’s the beginning of the end of impunity for Israel. Gen Z has seen the truth and the current leadership particularly in the US is aging and will die off. Despite all the horrors I remain hopeful for a better future.

I agree with this. Common sense will start to prevail soon because even when you take basic morality out of it, the interests of Israel, and the interests of the US and UK do not align. This is paying money to reduce domestic and international legitimacy to benefit a rich ally who does not consider our interests, when people here are struggling.

Oh no that's so sad. I hope there's another charity or organisation who will take on the task to deliver the aid although I can understand why many are hesitant after the latest killing of aid workers

Efacsen · 02/04/2024 13:39

@Parkingt111 on twitter and on Al Jazeera there is footage of 3 vehicles - one with logo and hole in the roof, one with the front part destroyed and one completely mangled

Silence1 · 02/04/2024 13:44

Despicable arrogant murdering fuckers. Agreed most likely done deliberately to stop aid coming in although the IDF also seems like an undisciplined pack of assholes.
Sunak is "shocked and saddened" FFS grow a backbone you little weasel.

I’ve read 2 were tho I might be wrong as per @Efacsen comment

Parkingt111 · 02/04/2024 13:51

@EasterIssland I have just checked again. All three vehicles were hit according to BBC verify who have checked the images and geo located them. It shows that each vehicle was at a distance to the other which means all three were purposefully targeted.

From hareetz

https://twitter.com/avischarf/status/1775118918480265557

there is a link to hareetz in the tweet. Translating it I get this

“The IDF fired three times at the aid convoy, the target of the attack left it before it set off The convoy of the "Central World Kitchen" organization was attacked due to the suspicion that an armed Hamas operative had joined the foreign volunteers, but he remained in the warehouse from where the journey began. According to security sources, after the first missile hit, the passengers tried to move to another vehicle - and were attacked a second and a third time”

thought idf knew exactly who was taking part in the aid. Also are they starting to accuse another organisation to work with Hamas ?

Three ... and the "most moral army in the world" thought it completely appropriate to deliberately kill a bunch of humanitarians on the grounds that one "But KHAMASSS!" might be there ...

This has become so, so difficult. Only a few short months ago 'the West' were queueing up to get to Tel Aviv to 'stand with Israel.' I wonder if they ever envisaged how horribly badly this would go. The Israeli's seem to have now adopted a, for want of a better word, 'fuck them all' policy and it's horrific to watch and really difficult to see where this will end.

Efacsen · 02/04/2024 13:59

It looks like it doesn't it

Saschka · 02/04/2024 14:07

The convoy of the "Central World Kitchen" organization was attacked due to the suspicion that an armed Hamas operative had joined the foreign volunteers, but he remained in the warehouse from where the journey began

Probably that same sneaky gunman who is clearly observed by the IDF in hospitals, schools and ambulances, but mysteriously slips away just before the missiles hit, almost as if he never actually existed. Nevermind, if they bomb a few more refugee camps and feeding stations they are bound to hit him eventually.

Efacsen · 02/04/2024 14:17

So this from a couple of hours ago isn't actually true - or at least not my understanding of the word 'unintentionally' because the convoy was doomed before it even set off

''Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, earlier described the deaths as “a tragic case of our forces unintentionally hitting innocent people in the Gaza Strip”.

@Efacsen sky news described it as a target going through a bulls eye.

EasterIssland · 02/04/2024 14:25

Seems like it wasn’t the first attack against the organisation.

I'm really perplexed now - was this some extremely high ranking Hamas individual like Sinwar that made it worthwhile killing 7 mainly overseas aid workers, wrecking the whole maritime aid set-up and evoking worldwide condemnation- otherwise it just seems a bit crazy and self-defeating

I'm almost certain that the same warehouse in Deir el Beit was bombed about 10 days ago

This is heartbreaking to hear

TextureSeeker · 02/04/2024 15:05

In a unanimous decision, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) said Israel had to act "without delay" to allow the "provision... of urgently needed basic services and humanitarian assistance"

Does attacking aid convoys and killing humanitarian aid workers show that Israel are respecting the ICJ? Why are Western leaders not acting now? Why are they not immediately ceasing arms sales to Israel when all signs point to the deliberate killing of aid workers(it's pretty difficult to accidently hit 3 moving cars) which is a war crime? There is so, so much wrong about this. I really hope to see these countries that have continued to supply arms to Israel in the Hague in future.

Pancakee · 02/04/2024 15:07

The Israeli government should be on trial for war crimes.
Shameful that the rest of the world is just watching.
