Out of the 901 off-line cases of anti-Muslim hate, there were 535 reports of abusive behaviour, 77 threats, 83 assaults, 79 acts of vandalism, 69 cases of discrimination, 39 acts of hate speech and 19 examples of anti-Muslim literature.

Greatest rise in anti-Muslim hate in UK since Hamas's attack on 7 October

Incidents included verbal threats, online abuse and in one instance, a Muslim family had the word "Hamas" written on their front door, a UK-based organisation has said.

Just read about it. Horrendous behaviour by Baroness Foster! Another Tory trying to stoke up hatred, when is Sunak going to get a grip on the Islamophobia in his party??? It’s getting completely out of hand now!

A good reminder that things aren’t always what you think they are! And that perceptions are influenced by beliefs! You can’t go around accusing people of all sorts without having real evidence to back it up. It cause real people real damage.

This article doesn't make it clear, but it's locally known that this was a young boy whose only 'crime' was being visibly Muslim. He's 13 years old. A child. People had enough hate in their hearts to stab a child.

TakeMe2Insanity · 11/03/2024 06:57

Just awful.

Scirocco · 01/04/2024 11:30

Today I've been told that Islamophobia doesn't break Talk Guidelines. Seriously.

Delawear · 01/04/2024 11:35

The conflict has stirred up a horrific amount of hatred and division, stoked by irresponsible politicians and news outlets.

I’m sorry you’ve been told that. Hope you’ve challenged it and been listened.

Nope, just 'keeping an eye on it'. I'm tired of having to 'challenge it in the thread'. Other forms of hate speech are removed though.

EasterIssland · 01/04/2024 12:20

There was a thread in mn the other day about how it’s allowed anti Muslim talk in mn. Nothing relate. With Middle East board but several comments were outrageous and a poster decided to open a thread about it

WTH??? Was that by Mumsnet?

Was that a written response by Mumsnet to you?
If it was I'd be reporting them with evidence of that response to you because Islamophobia is a hate crime

Very glad the young man is recovering well.

No indication anywhere at all that this was racially motivated. In fact, if it was, you'd expect to find the Sheriff Court hearing on 13 March being widely reported as such. Not a peep.

Scirocco · 02/04/2024 13:06

Islamophobia and racially motivated harm often goes unreported, uncharged and unacknowledged.

Oakstreet · 02/04/2024 13:11

FrownedUpon · 22/02/2024 19:29

It’s not really a surprise. The aggressive weekly protests don’t help. The hatred my Jewish neighbours are experiencing is vile.

I've reported this as not genuine. Having been to the protests, and seen Jewish people there protesting against innocent children God bless them. And human beings I will not stand and accept this posters comment. People want an end to the violence by the military who are opening committing a genocide.

I’ve been left quite disheartened by mumsnet’s monitoring of this subject matter. It certainly isn’t impartial.

PeasfullPerson · 02/04/2024 16:30

I agree it isn’t impartial. Some of the comments that have been allowed to stand are surprising, and some of the comments that have been removed are ridiculous. Must get round to properly complaining!

I do not see mobs of people marching the streets or university campuses with racist hatred directed at Muslims.

I do not see Muslim businesses being targeted.

I do not see Muslim chaplains or Imams in hiding for danger of their lives after death threats.

What am I missing?

It feels to me this is gaslighting Jews. Not only because it's patently obvious that Jews are currently the minority group under extreme attack, but also because the perpetrators are more often that not, themselves Muslim.

I have a photo in front of me of girls in hijabs holding a sign saying "zionists off campus". I have videos of Muslims saying "Hitler was right". Week after week, I listen to them and frankly they are intimidating Jews.

Not only individual Muslims, but organisations, like 5 Pillars.

I am baffled over posts like this - it's denying the evidence of my eyes and ears. And it's a great shame people aren't addressing the elephant in the room, which is off-the-charts Muslim antisemitism.

Being middle eastern myself, I grew up with this - it's normalised. But to see it occurring in Britain and being gaslit with the DAVRO is jarring!

You’re denying hate crime of a community. Just because you don’t see it it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. There are Muslim members in this thread that have mentioned the hate they’ve been exposed to. You’re a hate denier

@LemonyTicket I am sorry that you and your family have experienced persecution and discrimination.

So have I. So have many others. So have our families.

One person's or group's experiences of hate crimes and prejudice does not invalidate or diminish the experiences of others. We can stand together and say all of it is wrong and that we want to live in a society in which we all can be safe.

Can you explain how highlighting anti-Muslim hate is gaslighting Jewish people?

You also must have been living under a rock for the past 10 years if you have not been witness to it. I don't even live in the UK and it is very obvious to me but appears to have been normalised and accepted so maybe not as noticeable to you. I worked in disadvantaged communities in London in the early noughties as a community worker with many Muslim community groups and activists and I am so saddened to see how things have deteriorated for them, there was so much hope back then.
