On their defence I do it as well. Sotmimes I might not have an opinion but I think it’s related with a thread so thought others might have

Fair enough but I'm not convinced every poster that does it has good intentions by posting it and I've noticed this poster does it a lot

stomachamelon · 13/03/2024 16:53

@Dulra it doesn't break any rules. I am just updating the info when I see it. I do it on lots of threads.

I never said you were breaking rules I just don't like when it's done I like to know what people's views are on something otherwise it's left there and hard to comment on. That's just my opinion others obviously disagree

stomachamelon · 13/03/2024 17:14

@Dulra oh so it's a personal preference? I will bear that in mind. I see lots of posters updating with info/ tweets/ instas at the moment. I am just grateful for the info I might have missed.

Dulra · 13/03/2024 17:18

@stomachamelon it's an opinion not a preference there's a difference. I don't think it's always in good faith when people post a link to something and leave it hanging there waiting for people to take the bait. Maybe that's not what you intended to do in this case but it does get done

stomachamelon · 13/03/2024 17:22

Point taken. Will try and leave some information next to articles etc.

Dulra · 13/03/2024 17:31

Thanks @stomachamelon
With regards the link if the US doesn't want their funding to go through UNWRA I would want to see how it will be administered in Gaza and by who because my only concern is the provision of humanitarian aid to Gazans.
It is a Trump/ Biden election race so Gaza is going to be more and more politicised in the States from here on in.

stomachamelon · 13/03/2024 17:39

I think both articles suggested WFP and unicef.

AT LEAST ONE UNRWA STAFF KILLED WHEN ISRAELI FORCES HIT UNRWA CENTRE USED FOR FOOD AND LIFESAVING SUPPLIES

Today’s attack on one of the very few remaining UNRWA distribution centres in the Gaza Strip comes as food supplies are running out

This is unfortunately very likely.
Powerful pro Israeli groups hold the purse strings for vast amount of campaign funding.
AIPAC has formed a “Superpac” with a massive budget- it recently spent 4.6 million dollars on a single unsuccessful smear campaign against Californian candidate Dave Min. His criticisms of Israel were considered mild and did not even include calling for a ceasefire.
A PAC is a tax exempt political action committee that dispenses funds for its parent organisation. The New York Times claims that AIPAC plans to spend 100 million dollars via its super PAC fighting candidates who are critical of Israel’s role in the current conflict in Gaza. AIPAC’s own website claims that 98% of the 365 candidates they supported in the last election were successful

Another organisation, Democratic Majority for Israel, spent 1.4 million in 2020 on a successful smear campaign against Bernie Saunders that is believed have been critical in him falling from front place. This organisation claims a success rate of 85% with 28/29 wins. Funds are poring in for the next election.

So AIPAC will be pressuring politicians to withhold funding

Statement from head of URNWA as they’ve been refused entry to Rafah by Israel

https://twitter.com/UNLazzarini/status/1769711761136009310

im still surprised that what happens in Gaza is fully controlled by Israel. Many posters say that Israel is not an ocuppation as they left 20 years ago … to me it seems a very dangerous eay of controlling a country that doesn’t belong to Israel

What's your opinion on it? You often post links to things without any comment of your own on it. It's like making a statement about something within a group of people and just walking away

There have been multiple posts on this thread and others with just a link and no opinion. Why aren't you jumping down their throats?

EasterIssland · 24/03/2024 20:55

US Bill will defund UNRWA until 2025.

If funding ever resumes, it will be conditional that Palestinian Authority CANNOT initiate or support ANY investigation by the ICC into a WAR CRIME committed by ANY Israeli national.

If confirmed, that is essentially blackmailing a country into silence. I thought Trump wasn't in office yet...

Didn’t realise Biden was a Hamas supporter

https://m.jpost.com/international/article-793359

I don't believe anyone said he was. But the twitter account you posted has plenty of tweets calling Hamas a resistance group and one video where a man talks about how the October 7th attackers were breaking free from a cage to fight back.

Pretty atrocious way of looking at things. It’s as bad as all the people that think it’s necessary to starve and torture Palestinians. I’m calling it torture now, because that’s what I believe it is.

well seems like those accused of being Hamas apologists were right

Even if a Hamas apologist happens to be right about something it doesn't make being a Hamas apologist okay.

ladystonehearts · 25/03/2024 11:44

BTW, do you get all your news from pro-Hamas twitter? Because that dedi medya account is really something else. Blatant anti-Semitism and Hamas propaganda.
