@Ladyjanegreysketle

Don't you think Halal Slaughter is "torturing animals"?

That's where those sheep would end up.

This is bordering Islamaphobic.

What you are doing is comparing killing animals to torture people to killing animals for food, you know food... people need to live?

... aaaaaaaand we have finally found the post that somehow manages to simultaneously offend Muslims and Jews alike ... [for those unaware: kosher slaughter is near-indistinguishable from halal slaughter, with differences applying to the religious bits]

Ladyjanegreysketle · 08/02/2024 12:01

@anotherlevel This is bordering Islamaphobic.

It's not. It's an animal welfare issue not a religious issue.

"for those unaware: kosher slaughter is near-indistinguishable from halal slaughter, with differences applying to the religious bits"

That is incorrect.

What you call is balance is called derailment of the thread and mn rules don’t allow it. So if you don’t want to be deleted then stay within the thread topic or your comments will be reported for derailment

you’ve got this other thread where your comments will be within the topic

Honestly, do not go there!!!

The "ritual slaughter is animal abuse" is considered pretty antisemitic (and, Islamophobic, too - but it is an old antisemitic trope above all).

As for some factual info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ritual_slaughter#:~:text=While%20Jewish%20kosher%20law%20allows,to%20render%20following%20procedures%20painless).

So why is it up to you to tell people how/when/where and what to post?

Are you the thread police?

And it's not against any rules to have a new a/c BTW, as long as you don't have more than one at once.

For those of us who actually want to discuss the topic in the thread title the constant derailments by allegedly new posters posting pro-Israel/anti-Palestine nonsense that has nothing to do with the thread topic is irritating.

"Israel targeted a car on Wednesday, assassinating the head of the Intervention and Law Enforcement Unit in the police in Gaza.

On Tuesday, Israel's military targeted a police car in Rafah, killing 6 policemen, who were responsible for guarding aid sent to the enclave."

Maybe.

But that doesn't give anyone the right to tell others how they should behave on an open forum. That's just trying to stifle free speech.

For those that want to discuss in secret there are plenty of paid Membership Only forums for that.

"posting pro-Israel/anti-Palestine nonsense" that's only one opinion.

"Children's chants at an entertainment event in Rafah turned to screams when an Israeli bomb struck a car just meters away. At least one person was killed in the strike near a camp for forcibly displaced Palestinians in southern Gaza"

These poor children. The ones that survive these horrors will never be the same again 💔

@ConnieCounter here are the MN rules about these forums. They are a bit different to what you quoted.

  • No personal attacks
  • No posts that break the law, including hate speech of any kind
  • No trolling, misleading or deliberately inflammatory behaviour
  • No trollhunting
  • No spamming
  • No multiple accounts

If you can't manage that then maybe message boards aren't for you.

"The Israeli occupation forces deliberately targeted the Palestine Red Crescent team while they were carrying out a coordinated humanitarian mission to evacuate a number of wounded and humanitarian cases in #Gaza, resulting in the killing of paramedic colleague Mohammed Al-Omari and injuring two others. This brings the number of colleagues killed while carrying out their humanitarian work since the beginning of the war on Gaza to 12."

So speaking about a thread topic in a thread is not a requirement of posting on a forum. That's the most ridiculous thing I've read here in a while 🤣

I'm off to the pregnancy forum to talk about the Middle East to see how that goes for me.
