Thanks @Desertrose2023.

All these threads are important tp document, as we saw in the ICJ case South Africa used social media videos as evidence. 💐

Welcome 💐

Motaz has been so brave and brilliant at raising awareness about some of the atrocities that are happening in Gaza. With the targeting of so many journalists there it’s become part of my morning routine to check his page every morning to make sure he’s ok!

His latest story shows just how desperate they are for those aid trucks; this is a still but in the video they are racing towards it. I really hope that Israel follow through and let more aid in; it’s desperately needed.

Thanks for sharing.
honestly, for me, the weaponisation of thirst and hunger has been one of, if not the biggest crime, in this whole conflict (and that’s saying a lot given what we’ve seen transpire over the past 100+ days.)
I get so angry when I read/hear about the risk of “famine” and the “humanitarian crisis” in Gaza. It’s not famine. It’s forced starvation.

Thanks for the new thread.

I saw Motaz had posted earlier to say that Israel has killed his friend that operated the drone camera for the aerial footage. He said Israel is killing all the journalists who have drones.

This is horrendous. I can't imagine what it's like losing all of your colleagues like that. Like @Desertrose2023 I too am checking in daily first to see if he's alright then to catch up on what's happening.

If you’re interested more broadly in the journalists on the ground in Gaza there’s a really good thread you should also check out (linked below)

In addition to Motaz there’s a young girl called Bisan - her Instagram handle is wizard_bisan1
who is really worth supporting/encouraging, especially as her last few updates are heartbreaking. One of the few things we regular people can do is increase the followership of these people who are risking their lives to show us the reality of what’s happening.

Of the 50 journalists on the ground in Gaza (residents) 35 have been killed. If you haven’t already I highly recommend following them on instagram.

Also, linking back to the actions of the Israeli army against Journalists, this video by Greg Stoker is worth a watch.

From the Israeli newspaper Haaretz today. Unfortunately I cannot get the whole article.. Israel's Army Drafted and Armed Thousands of Settlers. Accounts of Their Violence Are Piling Up'Regional defense' battalions have grown fivefold since the war in Gaza started, and there are more and more accounts of settlers serving in them assaulting and threatening Palestinians

A mother lost all four of her sons in this attack. There seems to be no concrete evidence that they were a threat. One of them was wearing pyjamas and slippers when they were killed.

Thanks for the thread. In utter disbelief that this has gone on for so long. I just checked into the news and a woman in Hebron was shot dead for filming the Israeli army. This is a indiscriminate massacre of the Palestinians. The army don't even have to present evidence that a person is a threat, it's enough for them to be Palestinian.

anotherlevel · 18/01/2024 10:10

@istoodonlegoagain it's beyond belief

It’s a bit off topic but sharing this which has touched me greatly today. It’s a little baby girl alone in the tent where they keep those who have been killed. The photographer tried to find her family but no-one came looking for her, possibly because they were also dead or injured. She was taken away to be buried the next morning with others, I assume in a mass grave. I can’t really describe the sadness I’ve felt thinking about her all day, being in that tent alone and the possibility that her mum may have survived but will live not knowing what became of her baby. I’ve been remembering my DC at that age and how defenseless they were. We’ve heard so much in the press about the hostages and baby Kfir Bibas who is one of the hostages. This baby mattered too.

I’ve said a prayer for her and I’m posting the story here in case anyone wants to do the same. She died alone but the least thing people around the world who have no control over this can do is pray for her. I hope this nightmare will be over soon.

I’m not sure @Parkingt111 . I’ve seen reports of heavy bombing in the south too so I would assume so but no where in Gaza is safe.

A bit off topic I know, but I'm not sure where to post and if it's not ok then happy to remove this post but I just wanted to ask a question.

Given that the Houthis haven't caused any casualties in their attacks in targeting Israeli ships in response to Israel's bombardment of Palestine, do you agree and what are your thoughts/opinions on them being branded a terrorist group by the US?
