Conflict in the Middle East

WHY!!!

Mrsmulhern · 25/12/2023 03:32

Literally, just WHY!! Like I just don’t get war/conflict and when I’ve had conversations with people their answer is well, it’s because of something that happened years ago, or religion.

I mean why as human beings can we not just put an end to everything!! And if your answer is well we don’t want ‘terrorists’.. Literally 99 percent of humans do not want that either.
l

I genuinely feel like I’m going insane, why is nobody questioning any war, anywhere?! WHAT does anyone have to be afraid of? People, like you and me are dying everywhere, all over the world and it’s ok with everyone.

I am genuinely curious as to reasons but I can’t see any. We’re on this planet for such a short time and people just blindly follow their ‘leader’.

Why can’t we just say no and stop it?!

Putin for example, why can’t the richest countries just arrest him? They have the means to. Infact they actually have enough weapons to just wipe the guy out but they won’t. And we all just accept that. People are dying!

What if Putin's in the right and the rest of us are wrong? What makes you so sure the rich West would be morally correct to wipe out the leader of another nation.

What if Putin and his allies are correct and the rest of us are wrong and he is currently collaborating to wipe out our leaders?

Would that be Ok?

This is incredibly naive, so childishly naive I wonder if you might even be a troll.

We'd have to invade Russia to stand a chance of arresting Putin... And Putin's Russia has 1,000s of intercontinental ballistic nuclear missiles...

So yes, we could "wipe out Putin", but only as the cost of wiping of most of humanity in the process! We'd crest something literally a million times worse than what's currently happening in Ukraine.

Indeed very naive. Just wander into Russia amd up to Putin bypassing all bodyguards, soldiers and other supporters 😳 or do various countries launch war against Russia. Millions will be slaughtered making Gaza small in comparison. Nuclear weapons anyone, Russia have them as do the west

PurpleChrayne · 25/12/2023 16:29

Hamas could just give the hostages back and disarm, and the war would be over.

stomachamaleon · 25/12/2023 16:29

And that's all without (as it's Christmas Day) the ethnic cleaning of Christians from Gaza. The ancient community is oppressed and almost extinct. The war Hamas started is against Christians, Muslims and all Jews. It is a war on all humanity.

The Christian population in Gaza in 2005 was over 5,000 when Hamas took over. Do you know what it is now?

Christians in Israel on the other hand have steadily increased since.

That article is from the 12th if October. It also says that the 'death toll surpassed more than 1300'. On the the 12th of October people were still insisting that there were 40 beheaded babies and babies baked in ovens too. More up to date articles will give you more accurate news.

As nobody knows what happened to Kfir Bibas that stat wouldn't be included.

Parkingt111 · 25/12/2023 16:41

@stomachamaleon in 2007 the Christian community in Gaza was 3000.
Many moved away to other countries once the blockade In Gaza was imposed

Dibilnik · 25/12/2023 16:43

You % survival calculations are absolute nonsense, you should be measuring % survival by the population of Israel not festival attendees or kibbutz residents

Well, yes, except that Israel has had 3 months to wipe out the civilian population of Gaza, if that was really their intention, as stated so often and widely accepted without question here on MN.

Whereas Hamas and ordinary Gazan civilians had just a tiny window of opportunity on 7 October, and what they achieved was... let's say, impressive 😶

I've just seen that my post was deleted. All I said was the truth which is easily accessible to anyone? It isn't a secret how many people were killed. Its reported widely at this point. I'd love if whoever reported it could let me know why you chose to report my post?

Edited to add this is an article about the baby who was sadly killed by Hamas. What I said was true, she was killed by gunshot https://www.timesofisrael.com/yona-ohad-mila-cohen-73-43-10-months-three-generations-slain/

The posts on here justifying war and downplaying over 20,000 people being killed a large amount of them being innocent children says all you want about humanity OP.

@Parkingt111 that was my source. Honest reporting.

I don't think Gidon Ben Zvi is going to report from a point of neutrality on the situation after seeing many of his other articles since the war.
It's basically a criticism of a reuters article

stomachamaleon · 25/12/2023 17:35

@Parkingt111 I could see your point if your numbers still didn't mean an over two thirds drop.

@Xenia
Hamas chose to murder 1200 Israelis including slitting the throats of babies

The “slitting the throats of babies” is a social media rumour that has yet to be forensically confirmed as far as I know.

This report states that the only victim under the age of 1 was, Mila Cohen (Jewish) aged 9/10 months who was shot by Hamas while in the arms of her mother.

Another about to be born baby died as a result of a pregnant Bedouin (muslim) woman in labour being shot by Hamas on the way to the hospital.

@Hellenika "has yet to be confirmed forensically"

Do you accept the testimony of the forensic team who had the ghastly job of working out what was what after 7 October? Or is everything an Israeli tells you automatically dismissed as lies?
Or maybe he doesn’t look upset enough to you? He’s lying, faking, acting…?

Those of us living in peaceful communities/countries, please let's just be grateful for that, and stop blaming Israel for the position it finds itself in.

Sick brutal slaughter, no idea why the truth was deleted

educatingrati · 25/12/2023 19:21

It's the 7 deadly sins innit (pride often being considered as arrogance/ selfishness)?
If humans can't get on with their own families what hope is there for countries?
Religion is always used as an excuse, but that's just bollox. Greed, avarice, pride, wrath, gluttony, lust, laziness (not a sin but add fear in to the mix) and all of these result in discord. Now think about every war, I'm pretty sure you'll find most, if not all, can be linked to the seven deadly sins and /or fear.

Why does it matter how the baby was murdered?**

Parkingt111 · 25/12/2023 19:23

@stomachamaleon this was just on sky news right now. I'm more inclined to hear what actual Christians have to say on how they are treated.

We met Armenian Christian, Hagop Djernazian, who lives in Jerusalem's old city.
He said: "For the first time, we are not celebrating because of the war in Gaza."
"You can feel the anger within the communities."
He says the number of Christians in the OPT has been steadily falling, especially in the last two years, and there are now less than 8,000 Christians left in Jerusalem.
"The reason people are leaving is because of the pressure from different Israeli authorities on our churches and communities, the lack of job opportunities and education, and attacks on Christians' holy sites," Hagop Djernazian explained to us.

stomachamaleon · 25/12/2023 19:30

@Parkingt111 sorry I misunderstood I thought we were talking about Christian's living in Gaza?

I would hope any Christian's, Muslims, Jews or whatever religion you profess to be would not be celebrating right in the middle of an actual war. That would be obscene.

Also the figures back up where Christian's are living. Rather than where they have been driven out.

I should be asking you that as I got my information from the Times of Israel dated the 4th of December which is the report from the Israeli forensics experts? Did you not notice my link? Which do you think is more updated and accurate? A YouTube video of a first responder who doesn’t know forensics or the team of professional forensic coroners who can establish cause of death?

Right. So is shooting better than throat slitting then? That you're so determined it makes a difference.
