Part 3.

I hope they come home soon and there's no need for a part 4.

@Parkingt111 The whole thing is just desperately awful. I do wonder if the return of all the hostages would trigger so much pressure on the Israeli government to implement a ceasefire that they would concede, but Hamas (but Hamas! Sorry.) really do need to be removed.

25milesfromhome · 20/12/2023 23:27

stomachameleon · 20/12/2023 23:12

@25milesfromhome I have read that. They are prepared to throw sinwar under the bus to present themselves as the acceptable face of government.

Absolutely delusional! Will they be governing from Algeria?

StarbucksSmarterSister · 21/12/2023 20:53

Hamas also said that Israel must free all of its thousands of Palestinian prisoners in return for the over 100 hostages remaining in Gaza, the report said.

ALL of them? Bloody hell. That includes people like Barghouti.

@EllaDisenchanted what do you think next moves will be?

EllaDisenchanted · 21/12/2023 22:05

@stomachameleon not sure- Hamas starting point was one they knew Israel were never going to agree with, so are they actually interested in a ceasefire? I assume the negotiations will continue, and it’s like some kind of obscene haggling/ poker situation where they go in very high at the start but meet somewhere in the middle? It makes me sick 😖

meanwhile, Hezbollah are intensifying up north, they fired at Kiryat Shemona overnight, so I guess this will also be taking up the war cabinets attention.

stomachameleon · 21/12/2023 22:34

@EllaDisenchanted I saw the UN statement about Hezbollah. It would be funny if it wasn't devastating that they are only interested now. Regardless of the fact rockets have been coming over since October 7th, Hezbollah is in violation of 1701 and 80,000 people have been displaced.

I am really angry about this.

I don't think Hamas are interested in anything that isn't the total capitulation of Israel.

EllaDisenchanted · 21/12/2023 22:45

@stomachameleon i haven’t seen the UNs statement, could you link it please?

I've included Eylon Levy's comment deliberately.
The UN tweet has also been community noted.

EllaDisenchanted · 21/12/2023 22:58

@stomachameleon talk about one sided 😱
if the UN had bloody enforced the UN resolution in the first place, Hezbollah wouldn’t be able to do this.

stomachameleon · 21/12/2023 23:25

@EllaDisenchanted I will await with bated breath their statement saying as much....
I don't understand how people can't see the bias of the UN.

EllaDisenchanted · 21/12/2023 23:47

this is the Red Cross (I know I posted yesterday too). Total apathy

Deaths of 3 more male hostages confirmed by Hamas yesterday by video. Don't have their names

EllaDisenchanted · 22/12/2023 09:21

Hi @Efacsen where have you seen this please ? It’s not been reported on any Israeli news.
The only thing I’ve found is Hamas released a video of three of the hostages whose bodies were recovered by the IDF recently, (not the ones shot by the IDF) from before they died.

Efacsen · 22/12/2023 09:23

Al Jazeera but can't find it now

Maybe not new then but was reported as though it was

EllaDisenchanted · 22/12/2023 09:28

I also can’t find it. Will keep an eye on the news anyway, thanks @Efacsen

stomachameleon · 22/12/2023 10:00

@EllaDisenchanted I can't see anything or find it on Al jeezera.

I am pleased about the suing of the Red Cross. How much humanitarian aid has been sent in to Gaza? How much medical aid has been sent to hostages with diabetes, asthma, blood pressure issues etc? No even prepared to ask?

SomeCatFromJapan · 22/12/2023 10:24

The refusal to attempt to get medication to the hostages has really bothered me so I'm glad the Red Cross is being held to account.

Your last paragraph is spot on - this is the only outcome Hamas desires.

EllaDisenchanted · 22/12/2023 14:04

Gadi Chagai (73) confirmed as killed in captivity. Body remains in Gaza. His wife (70) is still hostage

This is interesting. About the hostage families who don't want a ceasefire.
