Part 3.

I hope they come home soon and there's no need for a part 4.

why do you think not a single hostage has been found after 4 months in a tiny place?

StarbucksSmarterSister · 07/02/2024 19:12

Because it's not that tiny. You have no clue do you?

@StarbucksSmarterSister I think this must be what it feels like to repeatedly hit your head against a brick wall

Do you seriously consider yourself to be unbiased on this subject? 😳 You have an awful lot of opinions on something you're impartial about.

It is simply factually incorrect to call them monsters. I wish I hadn’t stated it though, because it is obviously comforting to believe that people who do terrible things are in some way not entirely human, and it’s a raw and sensitive subject. Humans as a species have a history of doing awful things to each other.

I only posted here to show my concern for the hostages and their families.

monster
/mŏn′stər/noun

An imaginary or legendary creature, such as a centaur or Harpy, that combines parts from various animal or human forms.

A creature having a strange or frightening appearance.

An organism that has structural defects or deformities.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 07/02/2024 19:29

Humdingerydoo

Total idiocy. I'm leaving it to it.

I think that might be wise. There isn't enough wine in the country for me to make it through anymore of those comments, and I've only been passively observing! Can't begin to imagine how you must feel. It was a valiant effort on your part though!

StarbucksSmarterSister · 07/02/2024 19:33

And I'm not drinking at the moment! 😂

Thanks.

@User12795 your going to sit where?

stomachameleon · 07/02/2024 19:40

It's a disgrace that some people feel no shame coming on a thread specifically about Israelis held and spout their propaganda.

It is unwarranted and unwelcome.

@StarbucksSmarterSister hope you are ok. Glass of vino?

It seems that this is not a thread that welcomes ALL people who want to show concern for the hostages.

You were for some reason unable to show concern for the hostages without at the same time showing sympathy for the terrorists who took them, which is why your comments are being challenged. That's all. Don't make this into something it isn't.

Scirocco · 07/02/2024 19:59

@User12795 you may think you're being very funny and edgy, but some of us have lost family, friends and colleagues in this war. Your efforts to win at the internet just aren't funny here. Maybe try Reddit.

PeasfullPerson · 07/02/2024 20:04

@Humdingerydoo No. You labelled me as sympathising with terrorists when I explained why I thought that people with life sentences were now more of a risk and that it was understandable why people would be anxious about it

It was not me that made this more than it was.

A group of you then appeared to enjoy getting all worked up about it.

You were being sympathetic towards terrorists. You were being understanding of their plight. You were showing them sympathy ie sympathising with terrorists. You then also went on to say they're not monsters at which point I pointed out that they are, in fact, monsters. You then doubled down on that with an incomplete definition of the word monster and I provided a correction.

You can't just say inappropriate or inaccurate things and then get upset when people challenge you on it. That's not how life works and it's definitely not how the internet works.

Scirocco · 07/02/2024 20:22

I think @PeasfullPerson makes a valid point that some already very risky individuals are unlikely to have become less risky over time and the current situation is likely to feed into this mentality. If you take a group of criminals, who have already demonstrated significant violence, then liberate them in circumstances which may well (based on their own thought processes) increase the likelihood of stronger loyalty to what is a proscribed terrorist organisation, without any form of supervision, monitoring or limits on them, then it's a recipe for disaster.

It's awful. Not even pretending either.

Am fine thanks. Was gonna have a G & T but I just decided to have a cup of tea instead and read a silly book. 🙂

Two of those on Hamas's "wish list" are the Bhargouti cousins. Between them they were convicted of around 100 deaths, plus hundreds upon hundreds of people being injured, often in life changing ways.

I'm not sure how much of a further risk you think they could be. And that's just two of them.
