Good to see this thread. There's s lot if aggressive propaganda on these types of threads normally. And lots of apologists for terrorism. A bit like the weekly London protests. There was a lovely calm vigil in london at the weekend, from the Israel aspect. Like chalk and cheese. Pro-palestinians exist in their own echo chamber I'm afraid.

This is so baffling. You'd think a thread about the attrocities a terrorist group have committed would have everyone in agreement. Specially after being reassured over and over again that no one on MN supports Hamas or denies how awful they are. Yet here we are. It's almost like some people on here think Hamas aren't murderous terrorists?!

Keep doing what you're doing @Brumbies what HAMAS THE TERRORISTS did was and continues to be abhorrent.

They murdered more today. Their aim is all out bloodshed and their actions and words show they don't actually care about anyone.

It's literal evil ideology acted out in the real world and like with the Holocaust, because its happened to mainly Jewish people, it doesn't seem to upset the radical left as much as some things do.

To me, the more worrying members of Hamas are people like the children's doctor and teacher who were helping them hold the hostages....if Hamas are spread through the population like this ( and if they have the support of up to 75% of Palestinians) then how can Israel ever be safe?The most terrifying thing to me is the crowds of "normal civilian Gazans" cheering at Jews being dragged through the streets naked and their behaviour in the streets when the hostages are being released. How do you separate out good people from terrorists?

Problem is, the terrorist apologists, can't actually deny what happened on 7th October. They tried. But there's too much evidence to disprove it, so they are now taking to pre texting anything they say with 'yes, what Hamas did was appalling but..'. It probably sticks in their throat having to say it though......

@Rezola I agree with you wholeheartedly. It's very convenient to make them sound like a separate entity but it's clear from available footage that they are well ensconced with the general populace.

You only have to watch the footage
of spitting and cheering on Shani Louk's paraded body to see how easy it is for Hamas to hide within the populace.

And now we can add filming a man who has lost his whole family and releasing it. Are there no depths they won't go too?

I don't need to be told how evil Hamas are. I know. And we don't need to quibble about the details of how many / exactly what happened. It's tinkering around the edges of what was a truly horrific assault. But it's not being a terrorist apologist to say that IDF have also committed atrocities - not just now but over the last decades. Balance and context is needed on both sides.

I think we should also talk about how Hamas have engaged in the propaganda war. I'm not pro Israel nor am I pro Palestine - I think the conduct of Hamas, the IDF and parts of the system in both cultures leaves a lot to be desired. However, we have never been exposed to the depth or breadth of distressing, humiliating and graphic/abhorrent content that has come out of Gaza and the Israel border attack since October 7th.

That's on Hamas - the lack of consent from victims to release such graphic, harrowing footage shows such a lack of...I can't even find the words. Morality? Basic respect for a human? Decency? Filming and releasing people's deaths is vile. Most of what we have seen has at best invaded children's privacy and at worst has stripped them of dignity even in their death. We, as viewers, don't have a right to this footage as a vehicle for 'truth' or propaganda. I don't care if Palestinians couch it as journalism. The way we are bombarded with these deaths as some form of entertainment or consumption or justification or means of manipulation has been a disgrace. It's naive to think this isn't a Hamas strategy and that should tell you who the world is dealing with.

There is a dedicated thread to discuss IDF, in the form of racism and torture.

I don't see why condemning Hamas can't go hand in hand with condemning the IDF for bombing the shit out of innocent kids in Gaza. It's all sickening. There's no justification. One sickening act doesn't sanction another.

Hamas are terrorists and their behaviour in all kinds of ways is dreadful, including their display of the dead etc. This of course as if from the play book of ISIS and Al Quaeda and nothing knew - public beheadings, child soldiers, cubs of the caliphate - it is a completely different set of values from Israel and the civilised world.

I can't get over the stories coming out tonight. Filming a father being told his young family is dead. Branding child hostages using the exhaust pipes on their motorcycles so they could be recognised if they escaped. Keeping them drugged. Being operated on by a veterinarian.
