For anyone who has time, this is excellent and nuanced analysis about what is happening with Hamas leadership at present.

A lot of distancing going on from Yahya Sinwar who is getting thrown right under the bus.

I apologise for jumping to conclusions before SomeCat as I went on to listen to him. He has a lot to say and in a lot of detail which is all very interesting.

But how is it he knows more than the newspapers (The Times of Israel, Haaretz and picked up by the Guardian etc) who have not written about all this?

“Hamas is now ripping themselves apart” he says.

The speaker puts this all down to the success of Israel.

”Continue the operation”

“Keep pushing. Hamas may collapse.”

stomachameleon · 15/12/2023 00:07

@ScrollingLeaves there have been articles about sinwar and the leadership throwing him under the bus because of his inability to think 'next steps'
I also get the impression that not all the 7/10 atrocities had been given the all clear by those in charge hence the denial of rape (something hard to dispute with footage)

stomachameleon · 15/12/2023 23:37

Hamas claimed responsibility for rockets that hit Jerusalem and a hospital In Ramallah today.

XRAYTHIS · 20/12/2023 17:03

I think most reasonable people realise that Hamas are cowards. They don't fight like men did years ago. They hide behind women and children and use them in any and every way they can including in PR to promote their sick aims. Yes they have apologists and excusors.

If everyone called them cowardly scum. They hide away whilst making demands. Blinken said they should just release the hostages but they hold them still whilst their own civilians die around them or in the buildings above their hiding hooles.nk lasting ceasefire will be agreed whilst they hold hostages and continue to send missiles onto Israel.

stomachameleon · 20/12/2023 17:15

@Jupitersstorm funnily enough the pro pals aren't so quick to repost that sort of stuff. That has been all over the news today reaffirming what Israel said all along that infrastructure is used by Hamas.

I mean what cowards use a hospital? Unwra and the WHO have a lot of explaining to do. They are more than aware of this. Condemnation is slow to come...

As we will hopefully soon be documenting the region post-Hamas, this is the latest proposed plan:
https://new.thecradle.co/articles/saudi-french-plan-proposes-exile-for-hamas-leadership

Exile Hamas leaders to Algeria.

  • Create a multinational Arab force to control Gaza by UN resolution
  • A 4 year technocratic transition government
  • The PA take control after

Saudi-French plan proposes exile for Hamas leadership

The plan calls for Hamas' Gaza leadership, Yahya Sinwar and Mohammed Deif to be sent to Algeria followed by the occupation of the beseiged enclave by an Arab-UN force

Sounds a plan. No hamas with Arabs running rather than a western peace keeping force which wouldn't be welcomed. Both sides ceasefire. Release hostages and individuals detained without trial or fair trial if there are charges.

Completely separate from each other. Define the border areas.

SomeCatFromJapan · 20/12/2023 20:46

It's not just the victims who died, and the hostages still in captivity - there are also many thousands of people now living with life-changing injuries. Many amputees.

Here are a group of young survivors from the Nova festival attack:

From the BBC.

Blinken pushes back on criticism of US support for Israel.

At a year-end-press conference, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken pushed back on criticism of American support for Israel’s military operation in Gaza.
He was speaking as UN diplomats scrambled to avoid another US veto on a ceasefire resolution.
"I hear no-one demanding of Hamas that it stop hiding behind civilians, lay down its arms and surrender,” he said. “This would be over tomorrow if that happened.”
“How can it be that there are no demands made of the aggressor and only demands of the victim,” he added, stressing that the Hamas attack on 7 October started the war.
Blinken said the US had been at the forefront of getting humanitarian aid into Gaza and wanted to make sure that the UN resolution “advances that effort and…doesn’t make it more complicated.”
He repeated the administration’s position that Israel must do more to protect civilians, but that it had a right and duty to fight this war.
“Understandably everyone would like to see this conflict end as quickly as possible,” he said. “But if it ends with Hamas in place with the capacity to do 7 October (attacks) again and again, that’s not in the interests of the region or the world.”

Well said.

stomachameleon · 20/12/2023 23:08

@Skyisthelimit7 absolutely and that's echoed on here. Lots of where Israel is going wrong and what it needs to do.... someone said to me to other day
' clever people come up with clever answers'
When I asked what Israel should do.

It is the right thing to condemn Hamas and ask what they will do to make it right. Not just what it won't do....

Indeed.

This was very telling too:
""There seems to be silence on what Hamas could do, should do, must do if we want to end the suffering of innocent men, women and children. It would be good if the world could unite around that proposition as well," he told journalists at his final briefing of 2023."

Lots of silence about this on the conflict threads.

I think this is the most gripping, frightening and moving film I have ever seen. Canadian photographer, describing (and sharing sickening footage from) his escape from Nova, his first ever music festival.

Towards the end:
"Hamas... didn't just kill Israelis, they didn't just kill Jews; they killed Arabs, they killed Palestinians, they killed Americans, they killed Canadians, they killed Italians... anybody who's not one of them, they killed. Hamas kills you, they win; Hamas dies, they win; Palestinian civilians die, Hamas wins. In every situation, they get what they want, because it all ends with people hating Israel. ... The reaction people are having to what occurred is not a reaction I would have ever even thought of in my whole life: what we experienced is like something out of a Quentin Tarantino movie, and the fact that people are saying, Well, you deserved it, fuck you... It's insane to me."

I didn't know that Ismail Haniyeh has three sisters that are citizens In Israel and some of their children served in the IDF.

Ironic....

SomeCatFromJapan · 23/12/2023 10:16

Seriously?! That's actually so bizarre.

This is a very interesting series of 17 tweets for anyone interested, it is the summary of a twitter spaces discussion of mostly Gazan Arabs and sheds more light on the current state of play with Hamas and the impact of 7 October and subsequent war.

That article pours scorn on other threads that deny children were killed.
I am shocked at the amount of propaganda on here today that's been allowed to stand.
You have to think, given what we know, why Queen Rania would do that? I can think of several reasons.

SomeCatFromJapan · 26/12/2023 22:49

I don't understand either why she downplayed the attack. I know her father was Palestinian so I could totally understand her wanting to support Palestinian civilians but why give tacit support to Hamas? They should surely be the antithesis of what she stands for given the work she does?

stomachamaleon · 26/12/2023 23:49

I think there are several reasons
She is prone to a bit of antisemitism and a Holocaust denier.

Jordan expelled thousands of Palestinians and didn't they assassinate the Jordanian king in 1951? If you read why... well it's late but put it's this way they could have had it all but not enough for the fanatics.

Geopolitics. She dislikes democracy.

There are loads...

2 of the 8000 children. If only Hamas wouldn’t use them as human shields whilst Isreal drops 2000 tonne bombs in densely populated areas.

It's amazing how long you are letting this line of reasoning run. Once the world recognises this genocide, you can look back at these pages and thank yourselves for your complicity.

Trulywonderful · 27/12/2023 10:04

Same types of people tried this manipulate of facts and emotion at the start of the second World War and may other conflicts. History always shows them to be useful idiots or emotional manipulative political propergandists

In the mean time some will fan their hate and properganda until others think they are on some sort of right side. No sides in any conflict where innocent people are dieing on both sides. However some will still try and tell you their is a just side of something. The whole situation sucks and some people should know better than the speeches or social media posts they are putting out there.

SomeCatFromJapan · 27/12/2023 10:21

@ritenuto there is a thread that documents IDF action, that your link relates to.

The children are being killed by Israeli bombs due to Hamas launching a terrorist attack on Israel. Israel know hamas will do the same again if not defeated. Hamas won't surrender to save the innocent civilians. Hamas don't appear to care much for the children just for their aim to wipe out Israel. Its a vicious circle. Independent mediation is desperately needed but hamas and Israeli leader entrenched in their fight.

@SomeCatFromJapan I have managed to collate several bits of info that debunk some of the more interesting 'stories' on there.
