If there are no 'ordinary Palestinians' down there now, there soon will be. Hamas will see to that - human shields their speciality.

Proof of their cowardly actions.

What if the remaining hostages are also down there? Is there knowledge that they are not?

Weather they make it public or not is not going to make any difference to the hostages. Whether they bomb or run water through the tunnel isn’t going to take into account the hostages I’m afraid. Hamas are savages and will do what they need to do to keep their cowardly arses safe.

Thankfultoyou · 06/12/2023 19:59

And what happens to the hostages that are probably in the tunnels? Doesn't sound like Israel care for them very much if they're willing to flush Hamas out.

Xenia · 06/12/2023 21:51

Israel does care but since the start of this it has had the difficult job of protecting the entire nation of Israel by dealing with Hamas and it cannot be held to ransom by terrorists so it is not as simpler as they kidnap an Israeli and then in exchange loads of Hamas criminals are released from prison.

On the tunnels they may have announced the possibility of using sea water to help ensure Hamas leaves the tunnels. The hostages are valuable so Hamas probably does not want them dead as they are bargaining chips in Hamas' eyes. Sea water is not the ideal weapons to use although I think Egypt used it in Hamas tunnels being used against it for smuggling. It can get into fresh water supplies.
Destroying tunnels longer term is a better solution but there are an awful lot of them and it is not easy to do.

stomachameleon · 06/12/2023 22:12

@Thankfultoyou do you honestly believe that? The hostage situation is causing immense pain in Israel.

What if Hamas has the hostages in the tunnels and leave the hostages inside them to drown if they think Israel is about to flood them?

It doesn’t bear thinking about.

Exactly. Which is why the information shouldn't be out there. If they were going to do, they shouldnt announce it first.

Xenia · 07/12/2023 11:54

I think it was announced to make Hamas leave the tunnels (and the one thing Hamas would remove from the tunnels would be its valuable asset - the hostages). Hamas chooses to put Israel in awful situations because Hamas is a terrorist body. If israel floods the tunnels as Egypt did in the past then the acquifers could be polluted. Israel does not want to pollute local water supplies because unlike Hamas it is a reasonable democratic nation built on the rule of law, but it may be left with no choice. War is full of awful hard choices.

I agree but suspect that getting ready to flood the tunnels would involve activity that would be visible from Hamas drones, and from people on the ground, who are scouting IDF activity in Gaza.

Oh and for the it didn't happen brigade, there is mobile phone footage.

I've seen comments on X saying that it was the IDF soldier that was stood there who shot them. There is literally no proof that some people will accept short of being there themselves watching it. Even then if Hamas terrorists had masks on they'd claim it was the IDF in disguise

ScrollingLeaves · 07/12/2023 12:56

Here is a good Haaretz article about flooding the tunnels (pros and cons). I was able to read it without paying.

https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2023-12-05/ty-article/israel-debating-using-seawater-to-flood-gaza-tunnels-report-says/0000018c-3909-dc03-a9ec-3d7b120a0000

I noticed in a DM article about the hostages posted a bit earlier, one hostage is horrified by the idea as her
husband is being held in tunnels.

XRAYTHIS · 11/12/2023 22:06

Wow.

That money should be shared around the people of Gaza.

For a bit of dark humour, how is this for propaganda?

What do you mean by the "way it was moderated?"

By MNHQ. I ddi dont agree with deleting posts calling out antisemitism, one included, and not removing a lot of things that fuel hatred in general, bothers me. I found this whole thing and what's happening to jewish people quite frightening.

If Hamas shorted trades in my view that is likely to be insider dealing perhaps if the man linked to Hamas had prior knowledge of Hamas killing 1200 Israelis. I wonder if the profits can be clawed back and the £1bn given to the victims of Hamas. At the last bank accounts should be frozen until the truth is investigated.

Tel Aviv bourse says no unusual trading ahead of Oct 7 Hamas attack

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange said on Tuesday that a report by U.S. researchers suggesting there were investors in Israel who may have profited from prior knowledge of Hamas' Oct. 7 attack was inaccurate and its publication irresponsible.
