Isn't it about time MN started dealing with the usual derailers and minimisers?

There are literally hundreds of threads on mn. Yet many come along to minimise, derail, disrupt and in the end shut down what are often important issues.

It makes me wonder if some people just seek out threads on subjects they don't like and purposely do it.if the topic is so important to them then surely discuss with others on the appropriate thread. Its not that difficult.

Think it might be time for the board to be divided into two.

I don't understand why people come on here to do that. The same people. Over and over again.

I often think the people who spit blood most about 'the IDF' couldn't pick Israel out on a map...

stomachameleon · 05/12/2023 11:48

@Humdingerydoo I didn't realise we had sunk so low now that we justify rape as long as it 'didn't happen in a vacuum'

We should be championing women's rights. The condemnation of Hamas should be deafening. The fact a thread got taken down with that title leads me bereft and wondering what we are coming too.

Xenia · 05/12/2023 11:50

If Hamas shorted trades in my view that is likely to be insider dealing perhaps if the man linked to Hamas had prior knowledge of Hamas killing 1200 Israelis. I wonder if the profits can be clawed back and the £1bn given to the victims of Hamas. At the last bank accounts should be frozen until the truth is investigated.

They didn't give a damn about Palestine before!

stomachameleon · 05/12/2023 11:57

@Xenia that's a good suggestion: at the very least you can prove it was a pre planned and orchestrated attack. Not sure you should be profiting from that.

The London GP is connected to the group Hizb Ut Tahrir which I believe is banned in Bangladesh but not the UK according this report which also says

"According to Swedish broadcaster SVT, Hizb Ut Tahrir has been distributing leaflets at many homes in the Rinkeby area, with the agenda of encouraging Muslims in joining the group. Locals in Rinkeby has lodged complaints with Swedish police asking whether the contents of the leaflets are legal. Martin Marmgren, group manager for the police in Järva, commented on the pamphlets, saying: “Some people are worried. This is an extremist message from an extremist organization”.
Hizb Ut Tahrir has been operating in Sweden since 2011 and has been running for years in some other European countries, such as neighboring Denmark. As the group opposes democracy, back in 2015, Hizb Ut Tahrir called upon the Danish Muslims to “abstain from voting”, after claiming democracy was not compatible with Islam. It also opposes participation of women in politics and social activities.

In a leaflet distributed in 2015 amongst the Danish voters, Hizb Ut Tahrir said: We are committed to being active participants in our society, but it has to be on Islam’s terms, without compromising our own principles and values. Democracy is fundamentally incompatible with Islam, and it is a sinking ship.
British authorities in 2018, accused Hizb Ut Tahrir of using children to spread extremist literature that provided justification for suicide bombings and stated that women who leave home “uncovered” [without burqa] should be punished..>"

UK turns into safe haven of Hamas-Palestinian terrorists, Islamist bigots

While long ago London has turned into capital of dirty cash, Britain now seems to have already been hijacked by Islamist bigots, jihadists, anti-Semites,

@Depdawg agreed. I suspect none of them can even tell us how Israeli democracy works, they are just parroting what they’ve read off Xwitter. I don’t read any of the threads if I see certain names now.
It’s complex, it’s tragic, mind boggles how what Hamas did has been absolutely minimised and have somehow become on MN a resistance group.

I agree. I avoid threads started by certain posters because they are variations of the same thing.

I attempt to champion women's rights and I am disgusted to see a site that is predominantly women shutting down threads on rape. The constant whataboutery, minimising, deflection and wanting other women not to discuss the vile crime of rape, a heinous act is disturbing. No idea why the thread was pulled surely the best way is to just remove posts breaching the guidelines.

Rapists deniers should not be allowed to shout womens rape claims down.

You're right

Same people, same shit, over and over again

pickledandpuzzled · 05/12/2023 13:01

It’s beyond ‘interesting’ how people can conflate IDF response to a bestial attack by its neighbour, with the organised targeting of civilians for mass scale rape, murder, desecration of corpses, mutilation and more.

How is bombing the people that organised and sent those animals to their task, reprehensible? Is Palestine a people with an identity and a government, or not?

pickledandpuzzled · 05/12/2023 13:03

@XRAYTHIS you can’t tag Mumsnet like that. It doesn’t go anywhere. The individuals with names can be tagged, but not the generic Mumsnet (unless things have been changed).

No idea how to contact admin to ask why the thread was pulled. Wondered if that might work. Thanks for letting me know it doesn't work.

There are many threads are here where people insult each other, spread lies, numerous x, Instagram or Tic toc stuff and yet they stand. I didn't start the thread but it was asking why the rapes of women on 7th October is being called out.

A thread on documented rape of women is pulled. Strange.

XRAYTHIS · 05/12/2023 13:13

It is back up. It will be interesting to see which posts were removed.

Anotherdayanotherdiet · 05/12/2023 13:25

Is Palestine a people with an identity and a government, or not?

No not really. As the pro Israelis are found of pointing out Palestine never really existed. They don’t have a state. And a government? Well if you count Hamas. They’re certainly in charge.

Livelovebehappy · 06/12/2023 09:18

It could, but not a good idea for them to put it out there. It’s now given Hamas warning to vacate or reallocate. It would have been better if they’d just done it.

pickledandpuzzled · 06/12/2023 09:39

It’s dreadful- if they don’t warn they catch out ordinary people.

If they do warn, it prolongs the action by allowing Hamas to regroup.

Hopefully flooding will deny Hamas movement and infrastructure.

I would have expected the tunnels to be full of sheltering ‘ordinary Palestinians’ though.

What if the remaining hostages are also down there? Is there knowledge that they are not?

AInightingale · 06/12/2023 13:06

If there are no 'ordinary Palestinians' down there now, there soon will be. Hamas will see to that - human shields their speciality.
