That's surprising

I saw the same footage and saw the exact same baby in the arms of an older man.

SomeCatFromJapan · 01/12/2023 17:42

I honestly don't know if it is real or not, I can't tell. I just wanted to caveat my post as if it is, then I feel terrible for posting that.

Ditto with regards to that footage.

I think we need to be really careful about sharing "fake" grief scenes, especially where there's no need to fake them.

Don't get me wrong, of course Hamas are cunning propagandists.

But images and vidoes from past (and completely different) scenarios, as described here, are widely shared as "the truth of Gaza." I can't find the details of it right now, but another "fake grief/death" video turned out to be some kind of theatrical event years ago.

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/martyrs-fake-death-video/

I think we have to accept that none of us has the faintest idea what is really going on in Gaza. I suspect even Hamas and the IDF have no fucking clue apart from specific projects.

Were Palestinian Martyrs Caught on Video Faking Their Deaths?

A video of a 2013 protest in Egypt is often shared with erroneous claims about false flag attacks and people faking their deaths.

HUGE TRIGGER WARNING

Lee Kern went to Israel and saw the footage assembled by IDF that was recently shown in Westminster in an effort to prove that yes, these atrocities did happen. He wrote a blog about what that video contained.

There are no images or actual footage, but the descriptions of what he saw was harrowing.
This is the footage that Ownen Jones complained "showed no actual footage of women being rapes...no footage of babies and children being killed"

As Gaby Hinsliff says in her article today -
The film, compiled from security camera footage and terrorists’ GoPros, includes only material that survivors’ families have expressly consented to publishing – not everyone wants their child’s last moments made public – and the IDF says some scenes judged too distressing or intrusive were excluded.

It seems for Owen Jones and his friends, if they don't get to ghoulishly watch, it doesn't count.

And Owen Jones watched the same images and then made his video. The man must be a complete moral void.

SomeCatFromJapan · 01/12/2023 20:48

Unfortuately it sounds like many of the child hostages were treated very badly in captivity, contrary to the propaganda claims. This is from Prof. Itay Pesach, head of children’s hospital in Tel Aviv, speaking to a news station. He said they were abused "psychologically and in other ways", with some being treated better specifically for optics.

Thank you for posting this, and for doing so with a trigger warning and clear description of what it is.

It honestly does make me understand the Israeli response better.

Awful awful awful.

Been saying from the start half would be kept well to keep western idiots thinking Hamas are the nice guys

The others I feared for about the way they would get treated

Really didn't want to be right on this one

Just think about all those posts from fuckwits telling us how Hamas was treating the hostages well. Beyond belief what some people will fall for.

Stomacharmeleon · 01/12/2023 22:26

@Trulywonderful you would have to be some kind of moron to believe that.

Xenia · 01/12/2023 22:32

I have been behind Israel from the start knowing what Hamas, Isis, Al Qaeda etc are like. Israel is doing the right thing given what Hamas chose to start.

Rezola · 02/12/2023 00:16

I have just realised my post from yesterday was deleted - this is what I said;

I said I was more terrified of the Hamas hiding in the general population, like the children's doctor and the teacher who has both been keeping Israeli hostages. I was terrified that apparently 75% of Palestinians support Hamas( I hope this is wrong). To me, these are the more scary people, the ones who can attack you at a bus stop on your way to work as happened in Jerusalem yesterday. I don't know why my post was deleted. Israel now have no choice what to do to keep their people safe from these terrorists.

theconfidenceofwho · 02/12/2023 00:25

I agree @Rezola & whilst I have massive sympathy for the people of Gaza, I can't for the life of me understand why anyone supports Hamas. They're more than a terrorist group fighting for a cause, they quite literally want to destroy all we stand for - freedom, democracy, equal rights for women, freedom of religion, sexuality etc etc. The whole thing baffles & frightens the life out of me.

HiggleDyPigGeldy · 02/12/2023 00:34

It’s pointless to try and compare what Hamas does to what the state of Israel does.

Hamas = group of terrorists, not representative of the Palestinian people, with extremely limited power and reach.

Israeli state / Israeli army = extremely powerful and well funded, committing atrocities / genocide against an entire people they hold prisoners in Gaza in retribution for the actions of a few.

Let’s just stop trying to gaslight the international community. The world now sees what the IDF is doing because there are enough means to document it, despite Israel cutting off access to fuel and electricity. And every legitimate international organisation has no choice but to condemn the barbarism of the “IDF”.

I for one will never be going back.

HiggleDyPigGeldy · 02/12/2023 00:36

@Rezola most Palestinians do NOT support Hamas according to the latest polls before October 7th. Not sure where you are getting your facts from but they are wrong.
Also, more than half of Gaza’s inhabitants are children…

The oppressed often love their oppressors. Or seems to.
Hamas can do what they like with international aid and blame it all on Israel. Stuck in a flat and can't leave. Blame the Jews. High unemployment blame the Jews. Political leaders living it up as millionaires outside of Gaza. Blame the Jews. There were people who genuinely seemed to love living in East Germany even with the Stasi, the controlled lives etc. No other option has ever been available for those who came to adulthood under Hamas.
Hamas executes and arrests those who they consider collaborators so who dares to speak out. As was said earlier, Gaza's population needs to be deradicalised, the poison that is Hamas has gone very deep and very far.

Rezola · 02/12/2023 00:45

I have just been watching videos of Hamas training camps...for teenagers age 14+...teaching children how to slit necks😭I would love all these children to be de-radicilised. I am just not sure how possible it will be in a short time scale.

HiggleDyPigGeldy · 02/12/2023 00:51

@Rezola the answer seems quite simple actually. Stop treating them like sub humans.
Stop killing them arbitrarily.
Stop imprisoning them without trial.
Stop confining them to a large open air prison.
Nobody who lives in dignity aspires to slit throats and live off hate.
Honestly, it disgusts me to see how many people feel they can just treat an entire nation like worms, and the world is supposed to turn a blind eye or somehow buy this nonsensical stuff about “they deserve it because they are radicalised”.
let’s just call this what it is: apartheid and genocide

I think the answer is to get rid of Hamas once and for all. Then everyone living in Gaza can have a democratic government. With human rights for everyone.
