It's so dark because there's so little information coming out because Israel murdered so many local journalists and others understandably have stopped working. So things are probably 100 times worse than we know.

Unbelievable! A hospital they have already occupied back in December now has to be evacuated again. Is it just sheer incompetence on the part of the IDF?

Those bloody hamas fighters just keep moving around 🙄strange that.

What this shows is a lack of coherent strategy for 'eliminating Hamas'. If an area has been cleared of enemy combatants, then there needs to be a way of keeping it clear, otherwise it's just a cycle of destruction. Urban combat is hard, but it can be done far far better than this, if there's a genuine desire to do so.

I think it's more strange that the IDF, after occupying Al Shaifa, were unable to keep it secure. They have more boots on the ground, better firepower, better intelligence how did Hamas fighters get in? I mean half the humanitarian aid can't get into Gaza but Hamas fighters don't seem to come up against the same security checks?

I'm hearing some really horrifying stories coming out of Al shifa hospital

10UsernamesNotAvailableTryAnotherOne · 23/03/2024 21:54

Gazan journalist, Jamila Al-Hisi reports that the IDF have been raping and killing women at the hospital. 😢 I just want this horrific madness to stop, it has gone WAY too far.

"The most moral army in the world..."

Horrific reports, and entirely plausible given the combination of angry men, a dehumanising organisational and political culture, power and weapons, and opportunity. There has been a long history of dehumanising and attempting to sexually humiliate and harm Palestinian and Muslim women, and this has escalated during this conflict.

But I'm sure if we give it a bit of time, people who have insisted the world must believe women will be along to tell the world that in this case "let's not jump to conclusions".

If we accept a position that we should believe women when sexual violence is reported and take investigations from there, then we should have a starting point of believing all women.

Well said.

Scirocco-I hope the world will reach the stage where people really do believe all women, including Palestinian women. Watching the support for Palestine grow, I am sure it will. The eyes of the world are open now. It's only the the governments and the mainstream media of the west let us down. The world is enraged by what's happening in Gaza and when it will finally come to an end (it seriously can't happen fast enough), there is no going back for those responsible.

Parkingt111 · 24/03/2024 04:16

@Scirocco well said, I just listened to Jamila Al Hissi's interview. I can't understand how this is allowed to happen. It seems like most of the men in and around the hospital were automatically assumed to be Hamas and either kidnapped or killed. Some infront of their families. And for days they were under siege and denied food and water. It's a atrocity

TakeMe2Insanity · 24/03/2024 07:03

The reports are horrific. How much can they endure?

anotherlevel · 24/03/2024 07:59

I read about a horrific incident that happened to a group of Palestinians at the hospital. The men were made to watch by the IDF as they stripped and raped women including a pregnant lady.

It was written by a journalist on Instagram.

Scirocco · 24/03/2024 09:31

Maybe we should start a separate thread for the discussion and sharing of information regarding sexual violence against Palestinian women?

anotherlevel · 24/03/2024 10:29

A Palestinian woman describes what is being experienced by them all. It's a hard listen.

What's happening at Al Amal is understandably going a bit under the radar

  • All displaced Palestinians and patients who could move independently were evacuated towards the al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis after the Israeli military directly hit the hospital and issued an evacuation order.
  • Hospital staff remain, along with nine patients and their 10 companions, and a displaced family with children who have disabilities. All need to be evacuated safely.
  • PRCS staff member Amir Abu Aisha and a wounded individual who was being treated at the hospital after being shot in the head by the Israeli military were both killed, and their bodies need to be removed.
  • Israeli tanks and armoured vehicles have completely surrounded all entrances to the hospital, and control any movement in and out.

Another woman who left Al shifa also says the same. The men were all being shot. She says they shot her uncle and her 15 year old son and beat up others. She says the same thing that there are just dead bodies everywhere.

From the many different interviews I have seen of women leaving Al shifa hospital, they have all been consistent on one thing. And that is that the men in the hospital and surrounding areas were either indiscriminately killed, tortured or kidnapped.

More monstrous behaviour at Al Shifa - can't see how the hospital will ever be able to function again

Tanks crushed bodies, ambulances at al-Shifa Hospital: Report

Palestinians who fled the ongoing Israeli siege of al-Shifa Hospital have described what happened as Israeli tanks and armoured bulldozers surrounded the hospital.

Jameel al-Ayoubi, who was one of thousands of Palestinians sheltering at the hospital, saw Israeli tanks and armoured bulldozers drive over at least four bodies in the hospital courtyard, The Associated Press news agency reports. Ambulances were also crushed, he says.

One of the last remaining 'functional hospital' in Gaza

Doctor says conditions inside European Gaza Hospital ‘unimaginable’

Konstantina Ilia Karydi, an anaesthetist at the European Gaza Hospital near Khan Younis, has described the situation inside the medical facility in southern Gaza as “unimaginable”.
“This hospital had an original capacity of just 200 beds. Now, it has expanded to 1,000 beds,” she said.
“There are around 22,000 displaced people sheltering in the corridors and in tents inside the hospital because people feel that it’s safer to be here than anywhere else.”
Karydi is a member of an Emergency Medical Team (EMT) working with Medical Aid for Palestinians, the International Rescue Committee and the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.
In a press release, the groups said their staff have witnessed “horrific scenes” at the hospital – one of Gaza’s last functioning medical facilities – with patients “dying from infections with evidence of serious malnutrition”.

UN request to evacuate injured from Al Shifa denied

''Touma said Israeli authorities on Sunday also rejected a UN request to send a team to Al-Shifa hospital in northern Gaza, where fighting has flared for almost a week, “to evacuate people who are injured”.
