That's the thing, the NYT article is based mostly on supposed classified documents, and as you say where did they get them from? And how do we know the legitimacy of them as I don't think the IDF themselves have published this information?

@Humdingerydoo last post as I'm off to sleep, but just to say that I hope the above posts are not taken as backlash to your post or in a mean way but just some of my thoughts which I may be right or wrong about

No, the replies so far have been perfectly reasonable and respectful! I wouldn't have responded otherwise. I was more weary of the angry retorts that are so prominent on this board from both sides. I'm just not in the mood for it tonight, I'm feeling anxious just at the thought of it! So I hope any future replies to me on this matter remain calm and measured. Have a good night!

FOJN · 13/02/2024 22:55

At this point I couldn't give a fuck if they found nukes under Al Shifa. There is nothing they could find there which would make me think the death and destruction the murderous IDF have inflicted on Gaza is justified.

Hopefully every last one of them, who have committed war crimes, will end up in the Hague, along with Netanyahu and his fascist friends as well as Biden and Sunak.

@Humdingerydoo night 😴

Parkingt111 · 14/02/2024 10:45

The reports on Nasser hospital are extremely concerning
I saw last night that evacuation orders were given, but the medical staff said there wasn't a safe way to evacuate many of the patients and would not abandon them either.

Efacsen · 14/02/2024 10:51

Agree Totally grim what's happening at Nasser hospital - it's also the last hospital of any size in southern gaza

I follow one of the doctors on social media who is based at Nasser hospital, who gives daily updates. The last one was 18 hours ago where he mentioned the Palestinian detainee who was sent in to the hospital to deliver the message that they need to evacuate the hospital who he said was then later shot at and killed when leaving with other displaced people.
He mentioned he was trapped in one of the buildings as a usual safe corridor they normally use to get to another building was no longer safe, as people who tried to use it were sniped and killed.

  • Face-recognition cameras set up at Nasser Hospital gate

Within the past hour, the Israeli military ordered people – 300 medical staff, 450 patients, and hundreds of displaced Palestinians – to leave Nasser Hospital.

They destroyed the northern gate of the hospital and blocked it with piles of sand and rubble. Only the eastern gate is open now.

There are tanks and armoured vehicles stationed in front of that gate. There are face-recognition cameras installed at the eastern gate of the hospital.

From past experience, setting up face-recognition cameras and hi-tech equipment means raids and mass arrests are soon going to happen.

It's all so predictable now and no matter who appeals they are ignored

WHO Chief just posted this now

Civilians killed, orders to evacuate people seeking shelter, the northern wall demolished: I am alarmed by what is reportedly happening at Nasser Medical Complex in #Gaza after being under siege for around a week.
Hostilities have reportedly destroyed storage facilities for medical equipment and supplies.
Access to the hospital remains obstructed — there is no safe corridor for those in need.
Two @WHO missions have been denied in the last four days and we lost touch with the hospital’s personnel.
We have seen before how depriving hospitals of resources and access halts lifesaving services.
Nasser is the backbone of the health system in southern Gaza. It must be protected. Humanitarian access must be allowed.
Hospitals must be safeguarded so that they can serve their life-saving function.
They must not be militarized or attacked.

Update on Nasser hospital

Medical workers and patients still trapped in Nasser Hospital

The situation remains critical at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis amid reports of Israeli forces consistently firing on the facility after issuing evacuation orders.

“The Israeli forces have been completely surrounding the medical facility as they are also telling people to flee from the hospital under very intense bombardment in the city of Khan Younis,” Al Jazeera correspondent Tareq Abu Azzoum reported from Rafah.

“There are still people, alongside medical workers, trapped inside the facility and the medical complex as they continue caring for patients,” he added.

A bit more 'detail'

  • ▪️Sewage water is flooding the emergency department and we need coordination to maintain the sewage network. Medical and non-medical waste accumulates in departments and hospital courtyards, which threatens a health disaster.
  • The countdown begins for the electrical generators to stop within 72 hours at the latest.
  • A severe shortage of drinking water, personal hygiene water, and dialysis as a result of targeting water tanks, their breakdown, and the inability to maintain them.

It’s awful, to already be in such a vulnerable state and then be told to evacuate with no way of knowing how that is actually feasible. I remember being a patient in hospital once and while I could have managed to drag myself out if there was a fire I couldn’t see how a lot of people would be able to do this without assistance, and even with assistance to get them simply outside the building, it would have been an absolutely massive task. I don’t really understand what is happening here or where these people are meant to go.

Efacsen · 14/02/2024 21:49

@PeasfullPerson the IDF have a unique interpretation of the word 'evacuate' - to them it appears to just mean 'get out of the building' rather than move away to a place of safety - it happens over and over again

i think there's still about 350 patients left in the hospital who are too sick to move

2 news from Al-Amal hospital

  1. A video shows the Israeli occupation targeting a Palestine Red Crescent ambulance directly with gunfire and brutally assaulting its crew while they were attempting to transfer oxygen cylinders from Nasser Hospital to Al-Amal Hospital about a week ago.

Israel's military released a photo of kidnapped medical workers and elderly patients at the Red Crescent's Al Amal Hospital, claiming that they are "terrorists".

All 3 hospitals in Khan Younis are under some kind of assault - and unbelievably injured patients are being sent there from Rafah because the hospitals there are only small and completely unable to cope

It's difficult to articulate my thoughts right now at what is happening in the hospitals. This latest attack on Nasser has been brutal and i fear that there is worst to come.
Prayers for them all 😔

Parkingt111 · 15/02/2024 12:02

This is the latest

These were the messages from a nurse in Nasser hospital before communication there was cut:
The occupation soldiers arrived at the second floor of the emergency building in the Nasser Medical Complex and called on all those on the upper floors, including doctors and nurses, to come down to the lower floors.

The occupation [soldiers] released a large number of dogs that spread throughout the departments, buildings and courtyards of the Nasser Medical Complex.

The complex was completely stormed."

The IDF sent one of the kidnapped men to give the evacuation order then they shot him on the way out!

@Parkingt111 are the dogs related to this?

Israeli military say it has 'credible intelligence' that Hamas held hostages at Nasser hospital

The Israeli military said it had “credible intelligence” that Hamas had held hostages at the hospital and that the remains of hostages might still be inside, reports AP.

IDF spokesperson R Adm Daniel Hagari, said forces were conducting a “precise and limited” operation there and would not forcibly evacuate medics or patients. Israel accuses Hamas of using hospitals and other civilian structures to shield its fighters.

“would not forcibly evacuate medics or patients. “

not sure whether that’s what I’m seeing from of the videos coming out from Nasser
