IDF says they didn't target the 4 dead ambulance crew

Not in the area

It’s horrible, relentless. I have nothing particularly useful to add. Leave the bloody hospitals alone.

Efacsen · 12/01/2024 19:02

@PeasfullPerson it is indeed all horrible and relentless Sad

Al Asqa has run out of fuel - lack of electricity means that incubators and ventilators can't function putting prem babies and adult ICU patients in great peril - again

Fuel was supposed to be delivered yesterday lunchtime but did not arrive

Hopefully they will be evacuated

Parkingt111 · 12/01/2024 19:27

That's terrible 😭 oh those poor babies, I really hope they are safely evacuated

Parkingt111 · 12/01/2024 19:31

I read yesterday that the WHO said they had not been given assurances by the IDF for a safe passage to deliver aid and that they have had to abort their delivery 5 times now
This was to the north

Parkingt111 · 12/01/2024 19:34

The PRCS also tweeted this awhile ago

For the past three hours, communication has been completely cut off with our teams operating in the #Gaza Strip due to the Israeli occupation cutting communication and internet services. 📍This disruption increases the challenges facing the PRCS's emergency services 🚑 in reaching the wounded and injured promptly.

Efacsen · 12/01/2024 19:35

@Parkingt111 even UK Foreign Office was tweeting about lack of food/starvation in n gaza today

Efacsen · 12/01/2024 19:43

A little bit of good news - the Head of the PRCS centre in Khan Younis who was arrested 51 days ago whilst on the road evacuating Al Shifa was released today - no other details given

Parkingt111 · 12/01/2024 20:01

@Efacsen thank God for that.
Shows he was innocent the poor man, I remember when he was arrested at the time

Efacsen · 13/01/2024 08:37

Information from Al Asqa is a bit patchy - full scale battle raging on their doorstep and another telecom blackout

Possibly some electricity from solar panels keeping oxygen flowing and ?ventilators functioning - prem babies [?at least12] are being bundled up in blankets to keep them warm. Pics of hospital in total darkness last night and staff using smartphone flashlights

Not a sustainable way to run a hospital for any length of time

The vaccines [above] were provided by the World Bank and UNICEF and are slowly beginning to make their way into Gaza

PRCS provided medical services to 4,800 patients in the southern Gaza Strip

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has provided medical services to 4,800 patients and injured individuals in the southern Gaza Strip, it said.

The national humanitarian organisation is providing medical services to patients and displaced individuals in its Al-Mawasi clinic in Rafah and in two mobile clinics in Al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Yunis, reaching those unable to access hospitals.

@EasterIssland great to see, especially because there is a dire need after the killing of many health care workers,

Parkingt111 · 15/01/2024 08:06

WHO’s online platform covering attacks on healthcare indicated 304 attacks in the Gaza Strip since 7 October.
The attacks affected 94 health care facilities (including 26 hospitals damaged out of 36) and 79 ambulances.

Absolutely no excuse for this

Jordanian army accuses Israel of 'flagrant breach of international law' after field hospital in Gaza damaged

The Jordanian army said on Wednesday its military field hospital in the city of Khan Younis in Gaza was badly damaged as a result of Israeli shelling in the vicinity.

In a statement, the army said it held Israel responsible for a “flagrant breach of international law”.

Fears are growing that Nasser hospital in Khan Younis, the largest hospital still partly functioning in Gaza, may be forced to close due to Israeli attacks.

Palestinian health officials have said seven people were killed by Israeli airstrikes on homes near the hospital overnight to Wednesday.

The aid agency Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) said Israeli forces had “heavily bombed the area close to the hospital with no prior evacuation order, causing patients and many of the thousands of displaced civilians, who had sought refuge in Nasser, to flee in a panic”.

The UN agency OCHA said that Israeli forces withdrew from the area at around 7am on Wednesday and that initial reports and video footage showed that the nearby Al Namsawi cemetery had been destroyed and some graves empty, with bodies reportedly missing.

The remains of Al Quds hospital, so much destruction
I don't even know if there is a single fully functioning hospital at full capacity left anymore

@Parkingt111 those photos are really shocking

Read yesterday that only 6 of the 36 hospitals remain partially functioning and talk that the ?system has collapsed - hopefully the recent medical aid negotiated by Qatar+ France will improve things a bit - think it includes oxygen, gas n air, antibiotics

And now more injured people are dying after an attack than during it because there is no treatment available - which explains low deaths from reported attacks but high daily death rate Sad Plus ongoing severe suffering of pregnant women and new born deaths

The account of bodies being taken from cemetery near Nasser hospital in my post yesterday was confirmed by IDF = looking for hostage bodies - not sure that's okay

It's all totally grim and relentless - and nothing is being done to stop it despite almost daily info from WHO/UN/PRCS etc

Oh and Al Shifa is limping on - they seem to have acquired one or more surgeons and are doing surgery using gas n air rather than GA [?!!!]

That is horrific. I watched a interview with a doctor yesterday who said the situation is unlikely anything she has ever experienced. She said they no longer even have pain relief at times for dying children, so the most they can do is sit with them and comfort them in their last moments

Humdingerydoo · 19/01/2024 09:15

Nasser hospital is the one that released hostage Sharon Cuoni says her and up to 30 hostages were held in, so it's not impossible that they will find bodies of hostages nearby.

I'm not going to comment on anything else to do with hospitals in Gaza, I just recognised that name of the hospital from when I read this interview the other day so thought it was worth a mention.

Edited to add: as in, I'm not trying to minimise anything that the people of Gaza are going through at the moment. Obviously having surgery with just g&a is absolutely horrendous. I'm not trying to get in to arguments with anyone about it or trying to justify anything. I'm just stating that the intelligence shows hostages at the very least have been held there even if they're not anymore.
