How will they treat the wounded without water and electricity??

Update on Al Awda

  • Israeli forces have turned the hospital into a military barrack.
  • They have detained 240 people, including 80 medical staff, 40 patients, and 120 displaced persons inside the hospital.
  • Israeli forces have arrested six hospital staff, including the director of the facility Ahmed Muhanna.

This was really upsetting go hear. There are so many abandoned buildings and they choose the hospital to use as army barracks. Its another example of cruelty that really does add salt to the wounds.
Plus nobody ever knows what happens to the medical staff who get detained.
Like the director of Al Shifa hospital. Does anyone know if he is even alive?

stormy4319trevor · 19/12/2023 12:36

No functioning hospitals is going to really accelerate the already dire situation.

Efacsen · 20/12/2023 11:36

@stormy4319trevor Now there are no functioning hospitals in northern gaza the wounded appear to be being taken to health centres which i understand to be primary care clinics - it's maybe a bit more than first aid [depending on staffing/medical supplies] but totally inadequate

''Forty-six killed and 110 injured people have been brought to Jabalia Medical Center since morning in northern Gaza, the director-general of the Ministry of Health in Gaza said in a post on X.

Dozens were still trapped under the rubble, Munir al-Bursh added''.

@Parkingt111 the whereabouts and welfare of the medical director and 4 other members of staff from Al Shifa are unknown - can't remember if WHO or UN who tweeted their concerns yesterday. So many medical staff in same dreadful position

This is a new and grim departure in the destruction of healthcare in gaza Sad

The PRCS ambulance centre in Jabalia is besieged and surrounded by tanks

OP posts:
Parkingt111 · 20/12/2023 12:18

I have just seen the same. The latest development is extremely concerning

The Palestinian Red Crescent (PRCS) says its ambulance depot in Jabalia, northern Gaza, has been surrounded and besieged by Israeli forces.
It said the depot had been besieged from all directions and there are 127 people inside the centre including workers, displaced persons and injured people.

Parkingt111 · 20/12/2023 12:19

I have been seeing the aftermath of the strikes in Jabaliya and it is beyond words.
Just body parts everywhere
I don't know how the hospitals are coping at all
Even the staff must be so traumatised by what they have seen, I don't know how they continue

Parkingt111 · 20/12/2023 12:24

There are air strikes happening right now in the vicinity of the Kuwaiti hospital in Rafah

Efacsen · 20/12/2023 13:17

Kuwaiti hospital not big enough to handle large number of injuries

More ambulances and paramedics are coming back from the site of the attack with more injured people.

The problem with this hospital is that its of a small size, and will not be able to take this large number of injuries.

It’s mainly for basic medical intervention procedures, and eventually the injured will have to be transferred from here to other hospitals. - like where???

Still doesn’t give anyone the right to kill children and sick people and doctors and nurses, mate.

Efacsen · 20/12/2023 20:48

The 127 paramedics, injured and displaced people at the PRCS ambulance depot in Jabaliya are still being besieged by IDF tanks and snipers

This is where the 'evidence' that hospitals were being used as military bases by Hamas.

No legal representation, no actual evidence presented. Just an obviously frightened man saying things that may or may not be true and may or not be his own words.

How can anyone watch this and say it's legit? We don't know what they've threatened him with or whether he's been tortured. It's about as valid as a witch trial

Gaza hospital chief admits to being Hamas commander, using clinic as military base

The head of a Gaza hospital has admitted to being a senior Hamas commander — and detailed how the terror group transformed the medical site into an operation...

Absolutely. Surely people aren't so stupid as to accept this as evidence in this day and age. Ridiculous.

MandyCandy · 20/12/2023 21:38

This comments was made under interrogation and no other proof has been provided. It is widely documented that the IDF threaten those they interrogate.

We have seen so far that Hamas has not used these hospitals as bases such that international law to be broken.

Hamas fighters need to be firing at the IDF from hospitals. That isn't happening.

MandyCandy · 20/12/2023 21:39

Tbh we have gotten so far past the point of even arguing that now. It's clear the IDF is ethnic cleansing and destroying infrastructure.

Efacsen · 20/12/2023 22:08

I've not watched the Youtube or read the DM article but I have slogged my way thro' the New York Post piece which I'm assuming is where the DM scraped the copy

I'd really like to read an account in a 'proper newspaper' like the Times, Guardian or Telegraph, or by the BBC or Channel 4 but wonder if that will happen because it's unverifiable testimony and possibly/likely obtained by torture.

Really fear that the accounts in the bottom-feeding rags will become the accepted un-questioned 'truth' as to why Israel has systematically removed almost all healthcare from the civilian population of Gaza

Nobody has the right to do that, but see, I don't think this is deliberately happening.

Australian MSF doctor confirming unacceptable numbers of dead and permanently maimed children in Gaza and targeting of hospitals and MSF ambulances. She says MSF has been accused of not being neutral by reporting this.
More attempts at censorship imo.

Gaza children being killed or mutilated in ‘very extreme’ numbers, Australian doctor says

Reporting what is being directly witnessed by MSF healthcare workers does not indicate loss of neutrality, Natalie Thurtle stresses

PRCS ambulance depot in Jabaliya remains under siege with IDF shelling and sniper fire

WHO visited Al Shifa and Al Ahili again yesterday trying to keep what little remains supported/alive with hope to restore in future

WHO have said there are no functioning hospitals in the north again

Parkingt111 · 21/12/2023 10:42

Since Israel's military assault began on 7 October, at least 300 healthcare workers have been reported killed. This is more than the total number of health worker deaths recorded across all countries in conflict last year, and in any single year since 2016.

Parkingt111 · 21/12/2023 10:43

The above sadly just says it all

barkingmel · 21/12/2023 10:45

@Parkingt111 so sad and this kind of stuff needs shouting from the rooftops.
