I'm spraying accusations of anti-Semitism about someone who make a joke about am old Jewish woman using anti-Semitic stereotypes. The mods clearly agreed with me because it was deleted.

He did what

Yuck

@parksandrecs thank you for sharing your and your families experience with being Jewish.
My experience is different to yours. I have family living there.
We all have different experiences though and that's ok.

Agreed - I found the march sombre and dignified. I'm very glad that it was organised and to have participated. I haven't read the full thread, but I can see the direction in which it has been taken, and I'm sorry to see that.

Me too. So many people came together - Jews and so many others. I met such interesting, open minded empathetic people from several different countries, lots of different backgrounds, political persuasions. I hope thos real life interactions are more representative of most people than the twisted craziness of these threads here. I think they are.

Not to help me - I could say the same about your post! 'are one of you trolling'...

Apologies.

The rest stands.

In the realm of threads, a noble cause,
Against the shadows, fighting with no pause.
Antisemitism, the foe at hand,
United hearts, a collective stand.

A sea of words, a tide so strong,
Voices rising, against the wrong.
Thread commenced, with purpose grand,
To foster change across the land.

But alas, a twist, a subtle turn,
As discussions unfold, and passions burn.
Flags enter the stage, with colors bright,
Distracting from the cause, veering from the fight.

In the dance of words, the focus wanes,
Antisemitism, momentarily restrained.
Flags, like sails, catch the wind,
Steering the discourse, another kin.

Yet, let not the cause be lost at sea,
For unity's strength lies in you and me.
Gently, bring back the ship to shore,
Resuming the fight, as it was before.

Flags may flutter in the digital breeze,
But let not their sway your purpose tease.
Antisemitism, the true foe in sight,
Bring back the focus, reclaim the fight.

So in this thread, where ideas may clash,
Let understanding be the anchor, not the hash.
Against hate's current, let words stand firm,
In the face of flags, let unity confirm.

Brilliant words Giraffe

I won't join a march where I end up inadvertently supporting an Israeli (NOT Jewish) or Hamas (NOT Palestinian) flag.

Good night all!

Trulywonderful · 02/12/2023 21:27

All I can say is Omid Scobie's book extracts must be a damp squib.
I get the feeling we will be seeing more
of one of our resident teachers.

“The Jews of France are afraid. What can we do?” a caller who identified herself only as Martine pleaded on a breakfast-time news programme this week. Yonathan Arfi, president of the Jewish Representative Council in France, says he hears from parents who have told their children not to wear kippah skullcaps or Star of David chains in the street or on public transport for fear of being attacked. Some Jews have taken their names off letterboxes and doorbells or changed the name on their Uber account for safety.

One of the country’s most popular radio and television entertainers, who uses the stage name Arthur (real name Jacques Essebag), shocked many fans when he revealed that he had been living under guard since the day after the Hamas attacks. “This is France in 2023. I live in Paris and I have agents protecting me and my family because I’m Jewish. It’s crazy, no?” he said.

The interior ministry recorded more than 1,500 incidents in the six weeks following 7 October, ranging from the desecration of cemeteries to antisemitic graffiti and banners, social media attacks, vandalism against Jewish property, threats against Jews and a handful of assaults. This is more than three times as many as during the Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation in the early 2000s – the previous high-water mark for anti-Jewish hate offences.

As antisemitism soars, for many Jews in France nowhere feels safe | Paul Taylor

Macron is calling for unity, but the Israel-Hamas war has sparked a rise in hate crime that threatens a fragile social peace, says Paul Taylor of the Friends of Europe thinktank

Three? Ah bless, you must be very proud.

Trulywonderful · 02/12/2023 21:36

The above are the last three posts/links before the invaders arrived

My guess is they disliked one or more of those links. Therefore being the helpful little bunny I am here are the links again. Just to make sure people see and any attempt at burying them went to waste

Yes three in the last few weeks anyway

To be honest two of them make me feel a bit grossed out. The third is less creepy but still a bit strange.

I was a pain in many posters backside during covid as you know, however I didn't pick up stalkers even then. This is a bit weird really isn't it.

There you go.

Today pro-Palestinian rally in Brixton, south London

"People sat in the road blocking the path of the police cars carrying the arrested protesters, the Metropolitan Police said.

One man was arrested because of the placard he was carrying - police said he was detained "on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence".
Police did not release details of what the placard said.
Met Police said on X, formerly Twitter: "When officers tried to leave the area their vehicle was surrounded by other protesters. Some sat in the road blocking their path.

"Additional officers were deployed and the arrested man is now on his way to custody."
A male teenager was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage of a police vehicle.
People again tried to block the police van as it drove off and were moved out of the way by officers, police said."

You probably didn't hold your tongue as much as the rest of us. However see it as a badge of honour against the force of darkness that tried to cover us with their shadow from time to time.

I think I took all the stalkers in covid, with my magnetic charm. None left for anyone else. Happy to let you have these.

"Around 200 pro-Palestine demonstrators are marching towards Euston after gathering in Camden Town."

Pathetic little turn out for a protest. Obviously the dying embers of the Prop Palestinian marches. Hope they enjoyed their little bit of fun.
