WTF is going on in universities there and here? They’re no longer places where the young and impassioned say things and adopt views they later regret but that are generally harmless and idealistic. They’re turning into cesspits of hatred.

The majority of the time Jew haters and properganda use the word Zionist to replace the word Jew or Jewish people. Therefore anyone seeing a sign at a protest or a post on social media using the word Zionist will assume you are antisemitic

Also around 84% of the world's Jews are Zionist. In its most basic form it is just the idea that Jews should be allowed to self determine and live freely as Jews. This is what the average Zionist wants. Therefore not what most people think the word means thanks to social media. Zionism is part of the daily pray religious Jews say every day. So much like with any other religion it is offensive to criticize that part of the religion. There is something referred to as political Zionism and that was a movement started to aquire the homeland. This is really what most protesters what to criticize. So in reality they should shout about political Zionism or the Israeli government and not sprout rubbish or abuse Zionist.

It reminds me that in the US they regularly have Nazis openly marching carrying swastika flags where here that would obviously be banned. Is this considered a freedom of speech first amendment thing?

The uni chiefs clearly thought there was a difference in calling for the genocide of Jews and doing something about it, I don’t know what the law in the US says?

@noblegiraffe I think due to the First Amendment the US does have pretty much absolute freedom of speech, hence the Nazis, Klan rallies etc being able to take place where they'd be illegal here and in most of Europe.

However I'd certainly expect tertially educational institutions and other private institutions to have more robust misconduct rules than that.

No I have posted this on different threads quite a few times now over the last few weeks but worth watching if you haven't seen it. It talks about American politics but is also very relevant to the conversation about what is wrong with the very far left in this country too

Harriet Bradley an “academic”, socialist, ex Labour councillor & “gender” student is calling for terror attacks against Jewish targets. She has been reported to the police. She is calling to bomb people in Britain.

This the kind of thing people mean by appauling behaviour from the very left. Apparently they really do mean 'by all means necessary' when they hold up banners or signs saying this. The woman is more than likely just all hyperbole but this is a very very dangerous statement to make on social media. It puts ideas into the heads of others that could carry out what the act. Look what just happened in Paris, that attacker was know to have mental health issues
