Unfortunately I am unable to be there this Sunday, prior family commitment in the north, but will be thinking and supporting you all, and hoping that the march is a peaceful one.

SharonEllis · 25/11/2023 07:37

I hope it will be a large outpouring of support for British Jews and some comfort for them. I do know a lot of people who are not natural marchers who are coming.

I so wish I could attend this but have a commitment I can't get out of tomorrow.
I'm not Jewish but I'm horrified by the anti-semitism on show since the Oct 7th massacre.
Please know many will be there in spirit.

MonkeyHarold · 25/11/2023 12:26

I'm sure there'll be a great turnout from the Mumnetters who claim "I'm not antisemitic, but..." or the equivalent.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 25/11/2023 12:45

Thanks for sharing this :) I hope its a good turnout and helps jewish people in some way.

Stomacharmeleon · 25/11/2023 12:51

@SharonEllis thank you for posting.

Lemonsorbeteater · 25/11/2023 12:53

I cannot find a similar protest in the north west which is a pity.

Confuzzleduzzled · 25/11/2023 12:55

Shockingly BBC staff have been banned from attending.

Yes, I saw that. They seem to be muddling up British Jews & Israel!

I had the best time today. What a March! Well, more of a stumble as it took forever due to the amount of people...
I had the pleasure of being adopted by a lady from 'the Jewish part of London' who grabbed onto my arm at Holborn and said 'you are coming with me'
She walked round with me and made sure I got Back on my tube..
If you are reading thank you sally x

Cashncarry68 · 26/11/2023 16:34

Looking forward to hearing more positive stories from Mumsnetters who went today. 😀

sunshinesupermum · 26/11/2023 16:36

Just left it. 105,000 attended from all over the UK.It was an amazing and heartwarming experience. No hate filled banners. Proud to be a British Jew.

Lamelie · 26/11/2023 16:39

It was wonderful. No idea who was allies and who was Jewish except on the bus back now talking to a black man who’d travelled up from Kent. I’d swithered about discarding my banner and then decided to hang onto it as what’s the point of going to be counted if I don’t.

etmoiandme · 26/11/2023 16:50

@Stomacharmeleon Just watched some videos of it on Twitter, which made me feel quite emotional. Glad you enjoyed it.

Gosh, I heard it was 60,000 earlier which I thought was impressive, but 105,00 is amazing. That was a similar number to the one held in Paris a few weeks ago.

Flowers4me · 26/11/2023 16:53

Sending solidarity to you all and hope the march went well.

Cherrysherbet · 26/11/2023 16:54

I’ve just seen this on the news.
Heartwarming to see this. Everyone should be free to live in peace. My heart goes out to Jewish people living in fear. It’s wrong and it must stop.

Shockingly BBC staff have been banned from attending.

Don't know if the case.
Do you have a link/reference?
If it is so I can understand the BBC's position.
So not shocking in my book.
Your post maybe explains an odd largish prominent banner I saw on the march.

Stomacharmeleon · 26/11/2023 17:01

@FordAnglia if you are on about a bbc/ Hamas a4 homemade poster it was neither largish, odd or prominent.

Google "BBC not allowed to attend antisemitism march" and choose a source of your own, just in case you don't approve of my source of choice.

It is definitely a shocking as well as disgraceful decision as this was not a march for Israel, it was a march against anti-Semitism.
