Harriet Bradley an “academic”, socialist, ex Labour councillor & “gender” student is calling for terror attacks against Jewish targets. She has been reported to the police. She is calling to bomb people in Britain.

This the kind of thing people mean by appauling behaviour from the very left. Apparently they really do mean 'by all means necessary' when they hold up banners or signs saying this. The woman is more than likely just all hyperbole but this is a very very dangerous statement to make on social media. It puts ideas into the heads of others that could carry out what the act. Look what just happened in Paris, that attacker was know to have mental health issues

The Sociology Dept at Bristol seems to be a breeding ground for far left antisemites

stomachameleon · 07/12/2023 17:56

@Trulywonderful I hope something is done about her....

Oh yes of course Bristol University. I completely over looked that early.

That is on my list of universities my sixth-form son filling out his UCAS form isn't allowed to apply for even if he wants too. I have told him he can apply for any that are not on my list of ones that seem to be worst for Jewhate.

Well lots of people have reported here post to the police now. So hopefully she will receive a visit from them at the very least

I mean if someone from certain groups of are society posted such a thing they would likely be put on a watch list and arrested. I don't think she should get treated any differently

Trulywonderful · 07/12/2023 22:04

Looks like someone was as outraged we were

A very imaginative way to protest and get your message across, good on them

@Trulywonderful that's was an interesting article about the FA and it's response.

noblegiraffe · 07/12/2023 22:27

Are you sure that's a protest, Truly? Because it could be interpreted as someone wanting to reiterate what Harvard has already signalled.

Good point 😂

Who knows with these Jew hating idiots you could be right

Interesting fact MIT, Penn, and Harvard all had quotas designed to limit or deny access for Jewish students to their universities less than 100 years ago.

So this attitude towards Jewish students is nothing new.

Jewish people as refugees experienced similar treatment to this in other parts of their life in America too

etmoiandme · 08/12/2023 10:06

Yup, a lot of Jews came over to the UK for a short period even prior to WW2 just to enrol in university because of the hostility from American colleges, especially medical schools.

etmoiandme · 08/12/2023 10:32

This X thread is really fucking depressing. I don't think she's Jewish but her husband is, and they lost family on 10/7. The amount of abuse I've seen sent to her X account recently has been eye-watering.

I can't see a way back from this for Jews at the moment - the hate is so widespread and permeates so deeply that I think it's going to get a lot worse. The thing that especially worries me is that so much of it is coming from young people. If it was mostly older, ageing antisemites like Ms Bradley I would maybe find it a bit more bearable, particularly if they're views weren't gaining traction from younger folks. Are Gen Z going to grow out of this hateful ideology against Jews? I don't think so.

To be fair, I'm not seeing or hearing much of it really in my day-to-day, and in fact am finding there's quite a bit of negativity in general about the behaviour of a lot of protestors where I live. But these views might just be reflective of my own friends and colleagues (mostly not Jewish) so not sure how typical it is.

I'm so sorry.
There is definitely a hate campaign against Jewish people on X, and other social media platforms used predominantly by younger people.

Day to day levels of anti semitism has risen too. Schools needed protection for children in the UK. Jewish people feeling unsafe here. They aren't responsible for anything occurring in the ME.

They don't appear to garner the same interest for 800,000 deaths in Hutotos. Some of the wars, conflicts or genocide in Dafur merely passed them by. All the hated and rage directed at any Jewish people no matter where they live or the fact they aren't responsible for the problems in the ME.

etmoiandme · 08/12/2023 11:01

I think this thread is coming to an end which is a shame because I've found it useful, especially because on here I'm tending to just stick to conversations about antisemitism. The thing I'm struggling with is that I'm deliberately not engaging in any discussion about the conflict itself on MN because I do in fact agree with what a lot of 'Pro Palestine' posters are saying about Gaza. But it's beyond obvious that many of them are obsessive antisemites and hate Israel in general. So I refuse to feed their narrative by being 'that Jew' who agrees Israel is bang out of line and I certainly don't want to align myself with those very loud, self-declared anti-Zionist Jews (mostly young Jews) who in my opinion are doing massive harm to the Jewish community. But there are a couple of very 'pro-Israel' posters whose comments quite frankly make me want to weep and I worry people think their views are representative of British Jews. However the last thing I want just now is to go head to head with other Jews on MN when we're all trying to deal with the antisemitic fall-out of all this.

Oh that is so vile. I am going to posts what she says and the image here because it is worth showing to anyone that doesn't click the link

'I posted a Hanukkah hope that my husband’s cousin who is a hostage of Hamas would be released. A flood of antisemitism poured forth. Some were violent like this one of the ‘Happy Merchant’ being executed. Note the name “Zio goblin” and Hamas red triangle. This is hate movement.'

Can't you agree that Israel is bang out of line on some things while forcefully, and I mean forcefully, condemning any anti semitism?
As for the thread, I won't miss it - so much of it is entirely off topic on the declared title and much of it is simply an echo chamber for a small crowd - so no contribution to any hope of peace between communities in the middle east.
London will be as peaceful as ever this weekend. One of the world's safest cities. For all. (young knife crime aside)

School wise it is interesting. We do anti radicalisation training as staff and PHSE or tutor group talks for students on every exstemist issue. We did it for Andrew Tate, the Russia/Ukraine conflict etc

This time nothing at alallI think the generalthoughtis to handle individual cases as we see something happening. However not to stir up something or rock the boat by startinga conversation about the conflictor Jew hate. I meanwe are literally not talking about hate crimes of any sort in general at the moment so as not to upset parents or have the students voiceopinionsthat others may find controversial or hateful

This is all very well but it means we are not teaching about Jew hate and hoto stop it when sly or in properganda. It also means we won't spot any child that may get radicalised because we are not hearing their views in class. So we can't monitor them just in case their views get more exsteme. That means not talking about things in school a real problem, even though the alternative is a real problem too.

Horrid isn't it
Merely wishing hostages are released unleashes a slew of hate.

Sad.

I would disagree. I am a londoner, I have observed both sides marches. I am in London several times a week and know what it is like. I also talk to a lot of folk in London of all ages and backgrounds and know what they think. Many on this thread choose to ignore their take I fear. Without communication there is little chance of peace. Silencing people/misrepresenting people's honestly held opinions for online brownie points from a small crowd achieves nothing.

etmoiandme · 08/12/2023 11:30

This is a massive problem and I don't see how it can be addressed, especially if the response trickles down from some parents who are not on board, those who buy into and also promote the whole 'zionist propaganda' response @Trulywonderful

Trulywonderful · 08/12/2023 11:38

I have never liked the idea of pro anything to do with the conflict. Yes I tend to find some posters can have views that are very extreme or bias to say the least. That is the same for both sides whether Jewish or not. It does put you off commenting on some conflict threads doesn't it. I mean you know even if you have some useful information or knowledge about an issue they will jump on you if it doesn't suit their pro whatever opinion.

I think sometimes Jewish people are expected by some other poster Jewish or not to have the same opinion as other Jews. That there is some party line type thing we all must follow. However I don't know any Jewish people in real life that have this group think. We all have various different opinions about the conflict and everything else in life. I may disagree with you on some points but totally agree with you on others. I think every group of people are like this normally so why would Jewish people be any different

There is also truth in the saying:Two Jews and three opinions. I mean the Talmud is a book of arguments isn't it. A bunch of Jewish people debating things. Sometimes one of them is arguing two different opinions or sides at once. Actually I sometimes do this in my own posts when pondering on something....
